  1. Never said scrap the academy, ffs! Pointless trying to explain my position. As usual TT just wades in with insults. If we get £3m for Campbell I will eat my hat.
  2. Very fair point and I see the likes of Townsend as the exception rather than the rule. The way I see it we seem to be setting oursleves up to fail rather than succeed in relation to youth development. Shays Given was making the point about scrapping the youth set up..what I am saying is lets have one that actually functions properly. One that functions without sentimentality and that expects and demands to succeed not fail. If we can see that these kids arent developing to the level we need them then YES I think we shouild be binning them much sooner than we are and have done in recent times..What's the alternative " Oh boss we have this kid. I reckon in 4 years time at the age of 21/20 he will be good enough for league 1!"...which is largely what is happening now and has been for a few years...If we can't spot how a player is or isn't developing in 1/2/3 years then by christ there is something wrong with whoever is evaliuating that progress surely? Our youth set up isn't for developing players who can perform at Darlo. Kilmarnock or Hartlepool in 3/4 years time and we should be able to spot this sooner imo, react to the non developing players, get rid of em and focus on trying to get the 5% 0r 3% that actually will make it... I would add the likes of Sammi Ameobi to the mix..not good enough..imo. Time will tell with Campbell. For me hasn't got it in him.
  3. Its pretty obvious after having seen a kid play a few times if he's gonna make it or not. or if there is something about him that makes him stand out... Anyone who saw Gazza, spotty Mcdonald, Watson, Elliott could see they had something. I would imagine out of 100 you may get 5 that are gonna make it. all I'm saying is why fanny about for 4/5/6 years with someone who clearly hasnt got it. How long did we piss about with Huntington? Tavernier etc.. Of course you will always get an Ian Wright who burns everyones fingers..but surely the job of the academy is to spot potential, develop it, review it and assess it..if it isnt meeting the standard get it out and get the next one or next batch in.. Im not saying they arent all gonna have careers or even some make it at the level we are supposed to be operating at. Just that those responsible should be making decisions faster, moving the dead wood out and get the fresh kids in to look at sooner. Krul was obviously good enough. I saw the lad a lot up here for Falkirk, that was a good loan , a good development progression...He clearly and visibly had that soemthing. I just dont see the point in delaying the inevitable with some of them..thats all.
  4. Yep would sell Dummett too tbh. I expect campbell to do quite well up here in all honesty, cos the level is pish.. Doesn't mean I think he will vere be good enouhg for us or to play in the EPL How many of these type of 'kids' have we had that have actually gone on to get into the 1st team in recent years? whats the point? I just don't get the point in fannying about with them..so to speak..in a non Ian W way..
  5. He isn't good enough, he wont ver make it. its virtually guaranteed. OK maybe we wont get a massive fee, we never will, cos he ain't very good. Couldnt agree more we need 1 or maybe 2 strikers. Remy, Cisse, Shola and ANother for next season..Ideally no shola but that isnt likely is it, he's here forever... Remy: we have to sign and if we don't, if we IE the manager, directors and owner can't sell NUFC to him them they should all be shot at dawn. at this stage in his carreer we are perfect for him. Lets be honest here, what is the more likely?......... Campbell plays for Spurs, Chelsea, Man Utd or ANother high ranking EPL side (EPL, English Premier League; for TT (as usual at his insulting and disaparaging best), or he ends up playing for St Mirren, Falkirk, Dunfermline, Wolves, Peterborough and eventually Hartlepool or Darlo?? I know where my money is on..and if I am wrong then so be it. I will pop down/up/across/over and buy pilko all the beer he can drink for a night..
  6. You could say the same about most of our youngsters at this point. I've still got high hopes for Campbell, personally. I have little or none for any of them..Save for them hanging around for a while when they are cleraly not good enough or lack the particular attributes to make it in the EPL.
  7. Aye, let's get a pittance for someone who could still be a decent player/fetch a canny fee in a year or two so we can buy Phil f***ing Jagielka eh? sounds like a plan. lets sell Brayson,Dalgleish..(add young striker who was clearly never gonna make it name here...) sorry...Campbell, a stirker who WILL NOT make it at PL level and sign a centre half to cover the most depleted part of out squad/postion. Good idea mate like it
  8. Just sell him. Get him off the books and let the lad find his level in the SPL or the Championship/League 1. Not ever gonna be good enough for us.
  9. Pity cos he would be very good signing imo. Always been a big fan of his from his early datys at Bramall Lane.
  10. Easily gonna lose this now that fuck face is appointed. Loss by the odd goal now imo. May be blessing in disguise.....nah, would have liked a cup run and for us to take the FA cup seriously. Fucking hate, actually detest that 'pixie faced' cunt. Hope Tan goes all mental on him......... Ugh Cardiff and that tosser, what a fucking nightmare.
  11. Yep. he always reverts to type and shows what a limited manager he will always be when it comes down to it. 8th should be our league position, if he fails to deliver that then he has to go. but of course he won't. As for the ludicrous optimism of the likes of this : "Also City is by no means a full gone conclusion, they are still poor away from home and usually more often than not games at SJP are close..... you would think after all the big game performances this season people would be a bit more confident." You better get ready for a big disappointing start to 2014 mate...I f we dont ship at least 3 to City I will be amazed!...and you know how Pardppop is gonna line us up for that one....
  12. Agree. Now what we really need most is a new manager then......
  13. 8th for me too. 'par' season. I'm interested to see if anyone thinks we can actually move up the league next season even with 'a bit of financial backing'..? the way i see it the top 6 is pretty much solid. spurs have done themselves a favour in getting rid of AVB and will appoint better than Sherwood I would imagine. I had hoped Everton may struggle to bed Martinez in and Manure wouldn't start and get things right but they have both done or are doing things to suggest this ain't gonna be the case... I can't see which of the clubs above us are gonna 'fuck up' or drop out of the top 6... Chelsea: will only improve under Mourinho. Man City: will only strengthen Arsenal: wenger looks rejuvinated Manure: moyes settling in and they will invest undoubtedly Liverpool: Rodgers building his own team and with Suarez, they aint dropping down anywhere soon. Spurs: big boost in getting rid of AVB and they have the edge on us at the moment. Everton: Martinez proving his credentials and I expect them to invest again.... So realisticaly even if we get a few in ( 1/2 centre halves, wide player/creative type and Remy + maybe a shola replacement ( hey you can dream!)..I still don't see us breaking into the top 6. Unless its massive investment ala Freddie style of' splash the cash'... personallly I blame the C.L and UEFA. the emphasis on the CL has left a huge gap between the regukars in the CL and enevn the bigger clubs in our division.. Even 1 season in the CL isn't enough to close the gap.. We have a definite big 4 (man City having broken in cos of huge investment) and really even liverpool, spurs and Everton can only dream of a title or a sustained top 4 place IE 2/3 seasons on the trott. For me its almost a closed shop. The best we and clubs like us can hope for is 6th/7th/8th If UEFA were to upgrade the UEFA cup again, give it status and meaning then maybe we could see some end to the CL 4 domination.. ??
  14. We aren't as good as you think. imo. They arent as bad as theyre results to date either. again imo. In reality I see us as the 8th best side/team in the league and WBA should be aiming for between 9th-12th as a 'par' round for them... hence a draw away is actually quite a decent result..for us at them... except we will lose. again imo. They have won 3 games all season ffs. How can you say they aren't as bad as the result? 3 wins from 19 games! That's BAD. What I meant is they are underperforming. Once they have a new manager I expect them to be much improved. Yes they have hasd a poor season, can't deny it, buit they arent as bad as their results imo. (9th-12th) is where I woudld have had em at the start of the season.... by contrast we have been over performing imo...recently. Though we are on course for our 'par'..IE 8th place. hence a draw would be a good result... but we will lose. imo.
  15. We aren't as good as you think. imo. They arent as bad as theyre results to date either. again imo. 16. They may well have a new manager in place by then. Draw would be very good reslut imo. Loss for me though.
  17. Ending the year with top quality as per N.O
  18. Andy Carroll for a bag o chips and some jellied eels...
  19. A joyous Noel to all We may disagree on Pardew, Mike Ashley, Kinnear, players in general and players specifically. There may be disagreements over Politics, Graeme Swanns departure, the Royal family, TV shows, facebook, which ladies are munters, which ones are lush lasses and whether munging is ever an acceptable pastime.....but there ain't a place like N.O Merry Christmas to one and all.
  20. or its wearisome to read the Pardewistas all lining up to suck his cock cos he's managed to be half competent for a string of games. You pays your money ya takes ya choice....
  21. Far from, Laurent Robert is my favourite Newcastle player in recent times and i hated it when they would try and force him to track back. Did more harm than good he was that s*** at tackling or tracking back. I think if the talent is in you, just concentrate on what you do best and let others do the dirty work for you if you have a good team spirit who happy to accept that. Fair play.
  22. Still a cunt, but fair play to the shit. Merry Christmas Alan.
  23. Probably because he's lazy as f***, for the most part. Premier League and it's work rate Go on a spurs forum and ask the same question. "premier league work rate" is such a lazy comment. He just can't be f***ed and will turn up when he wants. Spurs fans I know hate him and wish he would f*** off asap. I'd have him here in a shot given the chance, still got a good couple of year in him at the highest level. Players like him and Berbatov just go at their own pace. When things are going well people say they are a touch of class, when things aren't going well, they say they can't be f***ed. You take what you get from them. Both will have their fare share of off days but when on form they are class acts. dear fucking lord. Adebayor.....His contract must be nearing its end man, the lazy cunt only plays when he can be arsed and when it means something to him. Team or club means fuck all to this twat. The epitomy of a mercenary, lazy cunt. Nowt to do with "work rate" or not wanting " flair" players... Thought as one of Pardews mates you woyuld be all for "work rate" over flair anyway...
