Interviewed at a FIFA 10 press event I think, it's not like he's come out looking for this. Didn't realise. Still think he'd have been better of keeping things like that to himself though tbh.
-
Needs to do his talking on the park rather than to the Times. Admire his honesty but think he should have kept schtum until something happens.
-
We need a striker who can score 20+ this season. We'll create chances but I've got no faith in Ameobi or Carroll to get in there and convert chances consistently.
-
Chin up mate, try not to worry about it, it'll all come right in the end. Fucking worked though didn't it, eh?
-
We'll fit in quite nicely then, won't we? We'll fit in very nicely indeed I reckon. Certainly won't be half as bad as a lot of people are making out. I hope you're right. I'm expecting us to struggle for the first few games though while we get used to things. Going to be a real culture-shock for some of our lot.

It's also a valuable CB option gone. True. Just got to hope that the young lad who'll inevitably have to step up to replace him in the squad has enough about him to compete in this league. Just got to wait and see.

Same feelings as when Bassong left yesterday really. It's a blow but we need to concentrate on the players who want to be here and move on. Can't say I'm happy about him going because he would have been a very good RB and a bit of experience for the young lads but there you go, he's gone and that's that.

I really fear we're going to get kicked off the park every week this season. Just don't think we've got the energy or enthusiasm to compete physically. Some of these sides will be woeful but they'll battle for 90 minutes and I think a few of them will steamroller us.

Still waiting to hear.

This confirmed?

Sebastien Bassong signs for Tottenham Hotspur, fee undisclosed

He's a good player who'll probably get better but he's not our player anymore. Yes it's annoying but I would have thought most people knew this was going to happen as soon as the final whistle went at Villa Park. The implications of going down were always going to be huge and losing players like Bassong were just part and parcel of it all. It happens every year. We need to replace him as best we can and concentrate on our own shit. -

It's a blow but we all expected it. We move on. -
Make absolutely no mistake about it when Ashley does go the supporters you think 'can get back to supporting the lads' quite simply will not. They aren't the rank and file, they are the spectators NOT supporters. Your sentiments are admirable but you'll find in fact it will not happen. Just want to get back to the actual football.
-
Not sure who's got a bid in or how much it's worth but I get the feeling that things are coming to a head and we're going to be sold very soon. No idea who is going to take over but Ashley's on his way out and that alone will remove the black cloud hanging over us. From what I gather, the fans just want him to go so they can get back to supporting the lads on the park.

Very much doubt we'll see the full £12m like. The £8m upfront will please Barclays but we're now short. I can totally understand the need to bring in a bit of cash and slash the wage bill but we do need to start bringing a few bodies in asap. The squad was thin before, it's fucking anorexic now. -
Ah it was better when the post was like my theme song. Going to change your name to 'Michael' to avoid confusion

Exactly. This club could be a goldmine if it's run properly. Just a relatively small sum of money and a bit of stability cold put us back in the hunt to get promoted this year. Get the fans onside and get a bit of momentum going and we could piss this league imho.
-
Well even if this story is true, any deal relies on Ashley accepting the bid. I'd imagine SP have recommended bids before now. Exactly. Still think he'll dig his heels in and hold out for more. Seems likely. I can envisage SP pulling out before long though if they're recommending bids and Ashley is ignoring them. Harris sounded thoroughly pissed off with it all to me. Also can't see Harris 'telling' him to accept it either. He may have advised or recommended he should accept the bid but 'told' Ashley to do it? Nah.

He doesn't need loads and loads of cash. He just need to care about the club and run it properly tbh.

Not the worst idea I've ever heard. Just need someone to appoint him - which is the problem.

SSN: £10m offer from Spurs for Sebastien Bassong rejected
midds replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
The club can afford to play hardball on Bassong because he's not taking loads out of the club every week. If they can draw a couple of teams into a bidding war for him then that can only benefit the club. Spurs want him, Arsenal have sold Toure and possible Senderos, City are hoovering up all manner of shite...etc. Let them all outbid each other and get as much for him as possible. I'm saying this in the expectation that we actually spend some of the proceeds on a replacement.....
