Jonas knuckling down? He looks like he can't be arsed most of the time. he just seems to hold the ball up long enough for enrique to get past him most of the time. Yup. I remember the first couple of months last year he did look like he had a nice turn of pace and could beat people. What happened to that? Totally lost any zip whatsoever. He probably spends more time running than any other player on the pitch & you think he looks like he cant be arsed ? He did well with that goal he scored if he cant run past players, let alone all the crosses he gets in after going beyond the fullback/winger. He is one of our most effective players by a long long way. Criminally underated on here for everything he gives us. spending time running means little if when you get the ball you wait for support even when there is a chance to create. that goal he scored (thats the only goal hes scored) and i'd doubt he puts one of those crosses in per game. you make him sound like keith gillespie.

Thats because a lot of supporters, although not all, actually advocate playing weakened teams because they see the Premier League, promotion to it and survival in it as the be all and end all. Its very sad unfortunatly it is the be all and end all in these days when the finances are as important as anything else. on a personal level i always had the cup as a second rate comp as poor teams can and do win it whereas with a league the best team wins it the vast majority of the time.

I don't disute it, but Babatunde comparing Barton beating up a scally charva and Mccormack and Hughes being complete brain dead imbiciles and driving when drunk and killing people through their actions isn't a fair comparison. I know I am coming over as a Barton apologist, and I don't want to really (I think he should have been sacked by Newcastle when he was jailed and think we shouldn't have signed him initially because he was known to be a bad egg who lost his temper far too easily) but he has spent two years reforming his character, he stopped drinking as he realised he couldn't handle being drunk and that he got into trouble through it. I think the lad needs to be given a little bit of credit for that. but the attack on the training pitch wasn't when he was drunk. you could argue he's used the drink as an excuse.

Colo is the total opposite to him, if you play alongside someone repeatedly turning on the ball infront of you rown goal and getting caught, whilst getting the crowd on his back, you would perfer to stick the ball in to row z....i think its just the combination of the 2 tbh totally disagree. defensivly another players limitations may have you covering more etc but i'd very much oubt that anything cocl done would have taylor stopping bringing the ball forward when given time and space. just seems more like he's strolling to be honest.

they had in the the NASL some while back (and in subbuteo)

Only trouble with the second one is if a player is offside and unfairly blocking the view of the goalkeeper, but not actually touching the ball, hence the interference rule that's used. Without bringing in video playback there's no accurate way to judge offside due to the human element of mistakes... but I don't mind it on the whole. It's ridiculous when these decisions go against you, but then again you have some going for you. I'd hate football to become too stop-start, with replays and timeouts. but everyone knows where they stand with it as it is a hard and fast rule with no room for subjective interpretations.

to clear the rule up it should be either an offside call given everytime a player is in an offside poition regardless wether interfeering with play or not.......or a player is only deemed offside if he touches the ball when in an offside position.

agree with the first part. taylor movement in the first half was very good. is there an alan smith overhead kick thread yet ? just as pointless as butt's and followed up seconds later with a completly free header directed straight back down the pitch into the one place on the pitch that was furthest away from all our players.

it would be interesting to see how colccini performs in the prem and see if last season was a settling in thing.
