Annoying though because we still struggle - we can't keep the f***ing ball for a start. Luckily we have the best collection of goalscorers in the league and the best collection of goalkeepers in the league and that's what makes the difference more or less every week. Or it might just be we are well organised defensively and goals scored tend to be worth their weight in gold. both kind of what i'm getting at.

i'm asking about this as today i ventured into a new and eerie place.....match time newcastle city centre. unable to avoid work much to my chagrin i had to head for the city centre for 3pm (at least recently on my horrendous run of missed games i've been starting at better times) the ammount of people on the bus going to the match at half 2 was amazing. "right pet am off to the match" 2-15........bus 2-30.....SJP 2-50. and i'll bet they came home straight after. on a good day (ie non work) the routine is..... 8am wake 8-9 brekkie 10 swimming with kids 12-15 bus 12-50 pub 14-45 leave pub 14-58 enter SJP 1700ish arrive back at pub somewhere between 1900 and last orders leave pub.

i'm just wondering if the 'switch off' in the second half isn't down to having the game game won and closing it out and in this league, knowing they have the experience to do it. same thing seemed to happen against posh.

bidding and having the cash to pay are two entirely seperate things.

Taylor, who else. He's got the best delivery but I don't remember very many decent balls in from him this season (in open play at least). Guthrie's got at least two assists from crosses that I can remember (blackpool and plymouth). Was Nolan's goal against Preston from a Guthrie cross too? In any case he's 4th in the league for assists with the second best ratio: Burke 8 in 16 Dorrans 8 in 14 Bothroyd 7 in 15 Guthrie 6 in 11 stats for assists mean nowt. you can mis hit a shot and still get an assist for it.

Hughton is handling it badly IMO. Ranger should be getting the odd start every now and then, Harewood has done nothing to justify an automatic place other than sulk with Hughton if he's dropped to the bench. ranger shouldn't be getting the odd game now and again. he should be in the team if it's for the best possible line up. with carroll and ameobi out and given harewoods form, ranger should be starting. -
for the vast majority of clubs that all the clubs are about and the best part of them. talking with a mackem at work the other day and he was saying they were very impressed with our crowds. i even pointed out that it was made up partly of those who had bought into the 3 year things and we've been top of the league all season. he still thought it was great and put their own to shame.

theres always the option of keeping nolan in the middle and playing mcloven up front. (guessing the obvious of ranger up front isn't on due to the pilko/elma exchange earlier) -

Have PM'ed you. Cheers, although with all due respect I hope you've got it wrong. i guess that means nolan playing off harewood and carroll out ? -
Supermac is worse. All week he's been going on about Mondays game as being a brilliant game of football. Andy Townsend and Robbie Earle piss me of the most for some reason though. Supermac is f***ing terrible as a pundit. I'd probably go and tell him that, but there's no way I'm waiting outside the Strawberry in the freezing cold till chucking out time to do so. you could erm, you know like,possibly...........go in ? Screw that, it completely ruins the joke. he's already been runied. (see what i did there?)

malcolm macdonald, paul merson and rodney marsh are proof that someone can play at the highest levels of the game yet not have a fucking clue about it.

Jobs for boys as far as I can tell has only been complained about when they've had no obvious role i.e. terry mac did f*** all as far as anyone could tell. Who's told you beardo isn't a good coach? Girl 1 going through the system? the beardsley stories have been around since the days of terry macs sons time at the club and his reputation hasn't got better. terry macs role was to be the middle man between manager and players. in the training sessions i saw he spent more time individually with players than keegan did.
-
this is hilarious. everyone squeals about jobs for the boys but seem happy for gazza to be involved and as an aside i've heard a lot more bad than good about beardsleys coaching. what they had you couldn't teach. wharton,beardsley,gazza......the croneyism everyone is supposed to want rid of.

can you tell me the name of 1 player who hasn't deliberatly cheated in a game regardless of wether it's a handball, shirt tug, obstruction whatever. this has been blown out of all proprtion because of what was at stake. had it happened in the group stages at 3-0 to france and the resulting cross had went out for a throw and wouldn't have even got a mention. so this shouldn't matter as much? no it shouldn't. it's a ridiculous situation to get into if the seriousness of something can only be decidied on the outcome and not the intent. and as it is ,the same intent is involved in every act of cheating that every pro footballer does from pulling shirts, obstruction and pushing.

rumour on mersyside is moyes wants steve taylor...if we swap taylor for kilgallon then no as it's unlikely everton will splash silly money.
