There really wasn't anything to separate Smith, Nolan and Butt though last year. All absolutely woeful. And Barton was either injured or suspended. Smith looked better than the other two in the fleeting appearances he made in central midfield. Butt was awful for pretty much every single game bar about three, and Nolan just hid from the ball and took no responsibility. Did he? I can't say that he did to me. Butt looked more mobile than Smith, which says a hell of a lot. Despite Butt being finished, he was at least one of the few who tried to take responsibility last year, despite being nowhere near enough to do so. i was saying that all last season. butt at least looked around and mad an attempt to get forward, smith, supposedly more mobile made no attempt at all and created sod all. i still see little or no difference between smith and butt.

Watford are playing again tonight 2 days after they faced us. the team thay are playing played on saturday aswell so it's quite even (well they turned up) Yeah I know, still a short gap though, considering they both played at the weekend. granda hat on.......... "i remember when there would be 3 games in 4 days over easter and regular back-to-back games over christmas.

http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2009-2010/table http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/division-one/1992-1993/table/1992-12-05 Seven points behind. Doing better at home though. When Wolves had 19 games, they had 46 points, so we're four points behind from last year. it's relative though. how far ahead of third place were they ?

It's normal practice when you think someone is "wrong on so many fronts" to offer up an argument that contradicts what they said, rather than backs it up. All of that is about scale. Some clubs have always bought success, it's [again] just on a bigger scale now, hence why it's harder for a well run small team to win something. You can't take the influence of money out of football, it's simply not possible, people who think it is are deluding themselves. There are ways that it could be made more competitive - perhaps a restriction on senior squad size or something like that - but a wage cap isn't one. true in that you can't take the influence of money out but never in the history of the game has it been set up in such a way, via the competitions and the media so the rich get richer and the possibility of a lesser club to reach the heights deliberatly lessened. from the champs league money to the way attendance money isn't shared to the medias over the top coverage of the top league and therein the big 4 creating a s elf fulfilling prophecy to continue the hegemony of these clubs.

my guess is the rumour was misheard and it is really "haemorrhoids"

grenoble man....fucking hell!

Actually Malky, we got Pancrate for free (which is also what we got our other goal scorer Lovenkrands for). and it wasn't in the top corner.

Two comments from the match thread that seem to be following a trend this season. I honestly don't think he's been anywhere near as bad as some people claim he has been. Today, like I've already mentioned, he came up with some nice touches and generally looked dangerous. His positioning is 'poor' because he isn't a winger and if he didn't move inside, we'd have nothing being created through the middle due to the lack of movement from Nolan and Smith. What I don't understand is how those two always seem to get praised for their performances but Guthrie gets overlooked. If we didn't have Guthrie in the side, we'd have hardly any movement. He plays a big part in a lot of our attacks due to him being able to pick out a good ball and the way he gets himself into a position to be given the ball back. He can also play a ball into space and in front of who he's passing it to rather than straight to the man all of the time, which is an area we're fairly poor in although it does seem to have improved a little recently. If Guthrie was to start in the middle, rather than having to drift inside from this wing, I'm sure he'd have many more assists to his name. People knocking him for being poor on the wing need to remember he isn't a winger but for me, he still looks one of our better players when getting forward and if they really don't think he should play on the wing, then they need to decide which one of Nolan or Smith they drop from the side to accomodate Guthrie starting in the middle. I'm not saying Guthrie is a poor player. I love him in the middle. But on the wing, his performances are poor, simple as, hence my poor rating. I think if we want to play someone out there give Ryan Taylor the position - it's more his style. Or Pancrate, of course. A Simpson/Pancrate pairing with Enrique/Jonas on the other side could be this possibly sums up nufc for the last few seasons. are we good ? are we not ? when the probability is that it doesn't matter if you don't prove it on a regular basis.

Honestly, on GH there are some of the bitterest c***s in existence. The whole place has stagnated in the last year or so, since two persons have started posting their tiresome rubbish rather prolifically. sounds familiar.

i'll go for it. what the hell ?

Just got in? i'm guessing there's about 90 words in that post. one wrong is a damn sight better than my usual rate. been home since 6pm. she's out.............. but of course next week, the positions will have changed, she'll be by the tele. i'll go out and get deranged. So it's because you haven't had enough to drink. which is the reason for most things.

Indeed. It could go two ways. We could beat them as they fail to get over their Boro thrashing, or it comes so soon they bound back immediately. Hmmm. draw it is then.
-
has it been mantioned how bad a refereeing performance was that ? not biased either way, taylor plays a chip up then charges at the man leading with his arm and we end up with a free kick on the edge of the box, nicky butt slides in for a deliberate foul but cant muster the dstrength to actually bring the player down, ref waves play on but doesn't go back and book butt. ref warns wtaford player for throwing down jonas three times yet on neither occasion gives a free kick.
-
not only that but having someone in the shearer position would be a good idea. he cleared loads because it was a great position to take up and everyone knew it. in other sports they retire players numbers, we retired shearers defensive position from corners. also what is the point in sending the like of jaons towards the box for our corners when he'd better off half way between the box and the half way line with danny simpson behind him.

we came close with pav.

When you add together his good performances & the games where he's played about average but had instances like that you'll find the reason most think hes done better than you do. He's had a lot of moments of showing a good amount of potential & i expect if he played more he'd improve further. There ya go good performance (singular!) and when i add up all the good stuff i think " he's a good prospect but why are people going way over the top about him ?"
-
You go off in all directions then you question me about it. You said he did badly against Cardiff, i disagreed. You're now saying he was useful & wondering why theres any confusion. What you've just agreed with is what you just spent the last 4 pages or so arguing with me over ya nutcase. Thats the only reason the we kept discussing it. When you're going out of your way to disagree with why a players done well, it comes off as you not thinking a players done well ? i said he was useful in general if not particularly in that game even though he had a minor role in the goal (if he'd scored the winner it still wouldn't mean he'd had a good game). you could even say he done well in that instance without doing well throughhout the game.
-
bur carroll has played better as a forward.
-
and referring only to strikers who have played regularly (3 of them) Referring to the fact that hes done well consistantly and id give him credit for that over players who havent proven they can yet. You two you'll see i don't think he's proven anything yet, 1 good game and one ok game does not a star make or mean consistency. for what it's worth after carroll, nolan has been our best forward when he has played off a front man.
-
So you'd have Ranger in the team against Cardiff then, because he helped create a goal. You just dont think his performances deserves any credit either, at the same time ? Do i really have to go into why Ranger has been useful for us when upfront, as a side thats played longball football. It should be massively obvious. who said he hean't been useful ? i've already said i'd have been starting him instead of harewood. just because i don't think he has been as wonderful as some are making out doesn't mean i don't think he's any good. why are you trying to make out i think that ?
