I think that's an incredibly harsh assessment of a player who is doing very well for us. is a harsh assessment but he is not doing very well for us either . What exactly are people expecting from the guy? He's leading the team, putting in a fair amount of ball winning tackles, he's giving good protection to the back four and just keeps the midfield ticking over, he never billed himself as anything more. i'd say putting in a large ammount of tackles, not necessarily ball winning and i don't think he's protecting the back 4 all that much either. the midfield isn't ticking over, it's spluttering. He's not Earth shattering but he plays within his limits, I didn't see him give it away much last night and he is decent in the air. I've been one of his biggest critics last year, but right now I can't fault him. coloccini and enrique both got further forward than him and I honestly can't remember saying "good ball alan" or him even attempting a through ball. its nice to have someone who cares and is blood and thunder but he's not playing well and his passion shouldn't disguise it.

Irrespective of such conjecture, it would still have returned to the finer points of the contract of employment; If the club had stipulated that he would not have the final say regarding the acquisition of players, they would have won. They didn't and subsquently lost. then again did the club stipulate he would have the final say ? Again, the burden of proof such it were, typically rests with the employer rather than the employee in such cases. Therefore, the bit in the contract about how he would be expected to perform the duties usually associated with the role of a manager (the clincher being the but not limited to). Very careless really, and I suspect the club's legal team knew they were fighting the proverbial lost cause from the outset. quite probably and i've spent the last few months telling people that managers quite often do not have the final say.

probably overall for the best but i'll bet in time this idea will change about what the managers role is and reflected in the contract.
-
Would have led to the same outcome, as it was a legal technicality the case was decided upon. Happens quite often in employment law, whereby employers fail to grasp even the basics of a standard contract of employment. but the mater of what constitutes a mangers role may have been gone into a bit more and it may have came out that managers often do not have the final say on comings and goings.
-
it surprised me at the time that NUFC went to a tribunal as opposed to a court of law. i'm not so sure a court of law would have saw the managers role in the same light as the panel.

The long road ahead. What next for Newcastle United?

i honestly think had we been midtable we'd have been sold. ashley will be thinking if we do up with what we have he can get a lot more. -
Pile of s****. If you fancy dipping into your own pocket for my football and tennis equipment in future, I'll happily avoid the place. You do what you like. I haven't bought anything from there for over a year and won't be as long as Ashey is being a c***. Pile of s****. Buy from who you like. Personally I don't want to put the money into Ashley's other companies, but obviously you don't mind. but you'll buy nike and such who use child labour etc. And if she didn't, and other didn't, it would mean those children wouldn't have a job, wouldn't get the little money the do get, and would probs starve to death, it's not other people fault other countries don't have minimum wage, working hours control's like we do here. Does the problme lie with the consumers?, the companies who exploit the lack of laws to prevent it from happening, or the countries who refuse to take note of it, allow it to happen? could the company pay more than the 20p a day to them ?...Hmmmm I guess they probably could. They could, but why would they, the company you work for could possibly pay you double what you actually earn, but they don't need to, so why do it? it doesn't make good business sense. They would actually prefer to pay you less, and no doubts would love to pay you less then minimum wage, but can't because it's the law. Other countries don't have that law, hence there workers get exploited, it's not my fault is some kid in Asia is the victim of relaxed rules and labour laws in there own country. But also, what happens if these companies didn't pay that child 20p a day?, it maybe little, but it's the little they need to survive, they don't have a social system like ours to keep you alfoat if you don't have a job. my company couldn't afford to pay me double and still make a profit as they'd have to pay others that do my job the same wage. funny isn't it that before we had the minimum wage the majority were still paid above where it was set. in fact my pay had little to do with the minimum wage. in most cases that company could afford to pay a lot more than it is and still make a healthy profit, quite a few do in fact.

Agreed. The crowd was very influential and the ref wasn't strong enough. Not only did he let them get away with some bad challenges, but every time one of their players fell over in our half of the field they got a free kick. He was a typical homer. Ironic that our goal came after one of our few fouls that he missed. At the beginning of the season there were quite a few favourable comments about the relaxed standard of refereeing in this division which I had my doubts about at the time and this has just been confirmed in recent matches. Chris Morgan and his ugly friend's "marking" was bordering on cheating yesterday. Served them right that our goal came from an illegal challenge by Nolan. The refs are f***ing hopeless imo. Was it an illegal challenge? Looked pretty good to me. When Sky slowed it right down it showed Nolan didn't get the ball, would have been hard for the ref to see though, as the defender plyed the ball just as Nolan fouled him. did it matter if he won the ball or not providing he was making an attempt fo it and it wasn't dangerous or from behind ?. should it be a foul every time players clash in the air for headers if only one actually touches the ball ? i've seen pens given for morgans pulling and clambouring on carroll from that corner.

if we get promoted we will be a much better proposition to buy. it all depends on how much ashley wants. -
where have i said this league is s*** we are lush etc. i think we have the best squad in this league, as do a lot of people who don't support us and haven't been playing well often due to team selection. Barton -- Guthrie -- Smith -- Jonas is the best midfield in the league on paper. As has been pointed out before, we dont play on paper. and we are where we are deservedly whilst i still think underperforming. thats on the pitch, not on paper.
-
What an incredible piece of business Sunderland have done !!? unless of course sunderland did pay the sum originally publicised.

where have i said this league is shit we are lush etc. i think we have the best squad in this league, as do a lot of people who don't support us and haven't been playing well often due to team selection.
-
how is it blind arrogance ?. someone in the league will have what is generally considered to be a better squad in that league than the others in much the same way you'd say chelsea have a better squad than the masjority of the premiership..is that arrogance ?
-
little has changed in my expectations. i think we have the most talented squad in the league and i have money on us winning the league but i still think we are underperforming given the standard of the opposition.
-
thats looking purely at stats. how many times have you seen games where the stats say 1-0 but the losing team were the better team, had more chances etc. only 3 away defeats.....thats more away defeats than every other team in the top half. Apart from Blackpool. who haven't lost more than us.
