I honestly don't think Moat ever got close to subsidising the deal. it wouldn't surprise me to hear this being resurrected in the next few weeks. Do you know something we don't? loads. nowt to do with this though.

So, its not relevant imo what everyone else does. This is a case about Newcastle United, our club, our identety. I dont give a flying f*** if Spurs, Everton, Man u whatever club does it, so be it, let em flush down everything that is tradition. We wont accept it, we are proud of our stadium, and its legacy. It would simpley be a direct hit at the spine of the club and city. Cant belive people take so easy on it, just bend over and let Ashley bumfuck the living s*** out of the supporters and club... unfortunatly that sort of tradition died the day a big blue star appeared on the shirt. Eh? i don't see a great deal of difference between renaming the stadium and having adverts plastered over the strip. (in fact the renaming of the stadium, when everyone will still call it by its original name, is probably the lesser of the two evils) No, far from, compare it to change the clubs name or relocating. I liked football a lot more when everything was not just about the money, kind of sad really... i think my comparisson is closer and i agree with your other sentiment. unfortunatly football has always been about the money only now it's more cynical.

Yeah, bring it on. I'm getting so annoyed with all this posturing. i'd hope at 20mill it's a fixed term deal, not a life time thing.

that happened with adbvertsing on tops, moving games at a moments notice for TV,and not being able to kick off till the tele man says the advert for gold converters has finished.

i'm supposed to be decorating the front room. i may well go on strike.

I know that, but it's not just small clubs who sell the rights. Ohmelads point seemed to be he didn't like the tackiness of it and that it was a small club thing, but much bigger clubs than us do it. Fair enough, you're probably right. Did Bayern sell the rights to an existing ground BTW? No idea. allianz arena

easier said than done wouldn't you agree ?...then again arsenal tend to live within their means. of course. It was rather tongue in cheek but its didnt take Wenger long to create what he wanted. Arsenal planned, sought out and chose the manager that they wanted and it paid dividends. (although i genuinely believe that it wouldnt be so easy to do that at a club that isnt based in London) i agree in the most part though wenger is an exceptional case.

lets be honest. a lot of the fans didn't give a s*** about tradition and feelings till 1993 and when sir john hall origianally gave the fans the chance to have their share in the club. if he sells the name now then he's a mug unless he gets a deal that bumps up if we are in the prem next season. Speaking for myself i care about tradition going back to our formation in 1892 and i in no way want to see it eroded ,if the ground was built in a different location than fair enough but not in this way ffs would everyone just accept red and white stripes cos i certainly wouldnt put it past him . i see it completly the other way. if the ground was built elsewhere then the new name would stick (emirates) as it is the old name will (gallowgate,leazes)....totally right about the strip though.

Our fans have blatantly done similar or worse in the past. Not that I agree with it, but it happens with all clubs. not to that extent in the modern era....that i know of.

Yeah because apparently we're the only football club that has operated at a loss and loaned money from the bank. Big Mike saved us. That's why players are sold for profit and the first team lacks any investment - it's all about balancing the books so we can be like all those Premier League big boys, cos they're all totally sustainable. Until Big Mike came in it was just us operating like that - he sorted the books out and even put us in an easier division so the youth players could get a chance. It's all about a youth system you see, that'll make us successful. Who knows maybe we can be like Southampton or Ipswich and have a famous youth academy. That's why he's putting 20m in - the first team doesn't need it because a youth system will get us out of this mess. west ham and portsmouth aswell as ourselves and leeds prove unsustainability is real. just watch liverpool if they fail to make the champs league. as has been pointed out once or twice on here it's not so much having debt but having debt whilst continually making losses and adding to it....sooner or later those lending are going to question the ability to of the lender to finance more lending..

I'm sure this idea has been aired as a thread before. It'd be inetersting to see what folks views were then. for me....not really bothered if the cash goes on the team. it'll still be SJP in the same way as it's still the leazes and gallowgate instead of whatever the ofiicial names are now.

never ever bet on demestic cup comps.

I agree - they all had soul, and seemed full of history. The concrete and glass monstrosities have neither. For example the builder of Goodison Park was the same feller who did Ibrox Park and Roker Park, and you could tell by the wooden lattice on the stands of all three. archibald leach i think. he had a design for SJP around that time aswell. i loved those grounds. villa park (that old stand) is of a similar style but not one of his i think.

was there a 100mill offer and was it straight down or in installments maybe with provisos.

pledges ready to go is different to cash in the back.

i honestly don't think they line up LCB or RCB. more so marking specific players. ie taylor to the stronger target man type player and colo to the trickier rely on movement type.

based on what ? Personally, I think Strachan is a bit of an arsehole. I have never got away with him trying to be "zany" in his interviews i ofteh like the interviews. i just don't think he's a very good manager.
