Bassong who has never really spoken and has no reason to lie or Llambias who is a pathological bullshitter? - hmmm.... Fair enough - just saying I always thought it was a Xisco/Gonzalez combo that upset Keegan. at around the time of xisco/gonzalez there were lots of rumours from and about both sides of the argument. i'll believe one side when i get harder evidence.

Considering the managers we've had during Xisco's time I'm not sure I'd trust any of their judgments (except perhaps Keegan but to be fair, Xisco was one of the rumored transfers that went above Keegan's head so he was probably being quite spiteful). Not according to Xisco himself. You keep banging on about this as the article said at the time he was presented to Keegan & KK told him his plans. I would imagine KK talked to all the incoming 1st team players joining club. I reckon Pellegrini at Real Madrid talks to players when they are joining Real Madrid but it is pretty much nailed on he didnt pick those signings. you'd think if he didn't want them he wouldn't talk them into coming. He'd already signed when he met Keegan. So the summary is that the players actually signed by Keegan (Bassong and Guthrie) turned out to be either excellent and sold at huge profit or a decent squad player and all the players signed by Vetere/Jiminez/Wise turned out to be f***ing s*** time wasters who want to get away as quickly as possible. Who'd have thought. both sides are claiming the credit for bassong. anyhoo, i was just replying to the spences idea that keegan talked them into coming but had no say in who came.

You'd think if he didn't have an excellent case for constructive dismissal, it would have been sorted by now. not nececelery (sic). it's possible the club are dragging out to build its defence. as yet we just don't know.

think you'll find it's "shut up shop" That would explain why he's never understood it "set up shop" is used but not in the given scenario. "set up shop" is often interchangable with "set their stall out" as in "it was a first date and i knew that, to get into her pants i'd have to set my stall out early doors"

only when he had made it and knew he didn't have anything to prove to his managers. as a youngster he gave it everything accoring to ian branfoot.

is that true ? HTL you were around then can you verify ? i thought he left in the close season after the cup final, unless you are meaning his cup final appearance.

it's the way he went about it. players today are saying that their contracts are there to protect them only but also that they can unilaterally tear them up. when players admit that their contracts should be altered if they turn out to be crap then it may be fair.
-
according to some paper today they have a 36yr old previously uncpped centre half in the squad and have set a 15yr record for the ammount of home based playes in a squad (they have england/holland/czech rep syndrome in that they have some quality well known players back up with average joe's)

maradona sacked aas argentina manager.....what price SJP ?
-
"i thought she was on the pill, she thought i'd had the snip, we were all at sixes and sevens"
-
bearing in mind that is about how much he has loaned the club is he just wanted the loan paying back ? as ever i'll wait till getting a bit more than tabloid tails about the deals and prices .
-
i honestly think he'd take less than that but thinks the prices set (and agreed possibly by moat and sheard) are the going rate with the club in its present state. except they cant get the money. If you use the ratio of the FTSE 100 index in May 2007 to today's index (about 70%), then the current price of the club if had still been on the stock market would be about 95m. Whether that is fair or not isn't that clear as it depends on debt etc. if you're going to be like that then we also have to quantify what "an obscene amount of money " is ?

absolute hogwash of the highest order. if you sign a contract you stick to it if you expect the other to stick to their side. lets say he was s***, would he have admitted it and said, "nah sorry newcastle, i've been s***, you shou;ld be well within your rights to slash my pay"...but no it doesn't work that way. the club have to pay him as per contract regardless of performance...he shouls fulfill his side of the contract likewise. So what would you like him to have done then. fulfill his contract and if he doesn't like it go through the official channels with a written transfer request. Signs for a foreign club with the prospect of playing Champions League Football (that's what they told Enrique at least), a decent Spanish Under 21 International, turns up and the manager is wondering why one of the ball boys is wearing a training kit. He got shafted from the word go. It cannot be assumed he's a slacker, he's good enough to play for his country at U21 but not at relegated Newcastle. The fact the top brass were trying to flog every one of our squad and he didn't go obviously tells you that no-one wanted him back after his year out. It would have been safe to assume on his part that a Spanish side would come in for him. No-one did and he thought his career was over. Don't know why people are being so harsh on him. It'd be far worse if he insisted on rotting in the reserves. he shouldn't be insisting on the reserves . he should be doing his all to get a regular place or putting in a transfer request. if players want clubs to uphold their side of contracts then they have to do likewise. sooner or later players will be in for a shock when a club "does" a player over it. Look I'm not here to score points in a petty forum squabble, but you cannot assume that he wasn't doing just that. IF he wasn't then I'm sure he'd be sent packing by whoever was running the club/team at the time last January, let alone this transfer window. it doesn't matter. if players want the clubs to uphold their contracts no matter how shit they are then the players ought to uphold their side of it.
