I think when managers work with them on a day to day basis and see their commitement etc in training their vision of their on the field performances can sometimes be blurred. It's alot easier for Butt to look class in a training session which is obviously not at the tempo of a league game and managers always want experience in their sides. butt is very similar to david batty. wins the ball, organises and keeps his ditribution simple. if he has no options and is forced into trying hoddle style passing he'll look worse than he is. There are only two ways Butt can be effective in midfield for me: 1) He has three other highly mobile midifelders around him who will provide lots of options. 2) We bypass the midifeld and go long ball in which case he just becomes a ball winner to break up the opposition play. I've a feeling Kinnear will go towards option 2 if he's talking about using Shola. He obviously hasn't realised Ameobi has got a head like a 50p coin. the mobility has always been the thing for me. all the good teams and football at its best to watch is built on movement and the player with the ball having options. not just from the midfield but the forwards and increasingly in todays football, the fullbacks.

Yes and so is the UK. I wouldn't go to Australia to have my ankle looked at just like you wouldn't come to the UK to have your ankle looked at. Anyway, I'm not talking about the NHS. Can you imagine a footballer on a six month waiting list for an operation? People are talking bollocks. Private e.g. BUPA hospitals (like the one's who do all the player medicals for transfers) is where these players go. Are people trying to tell me the UK isn't one of the top 10 countries for medicine? Don't be silly. oook... im telling you, UK is not one in the top 10 countries in the world.... when it comes to medicine there will be some things we have speciailists in the UK who are top in their filed, for other things the aussies will have the top people in their field. however unless he is going to see a world renowned specialist i don't see the pointing of him going round the world to see someone when he could get just as good in the UK or europe. This. As i have read, the team comes from a little town, its amazing they have enough players to even play, and on top of that they have all chances of advancing. Amazing is half of it The team is originally from the Turkish-occupied north. Essentially, it's a refugee club. One hell of an achievement is being witnessed here. Tbh I didn't even think they would get 1 point from 6 games, let alone 4 from 2. Old Temuri's got them tactically spot on, and playing with their hearts on their sleeves. Beating the greeks last night was all that much sweeter. Thanks to copious amounts of celebratory tequila, i'm sat at home this morning having called in sick at work. Love it!! they've gradually got better over the last few years and now that players will move countries more readily they have a quite cosmopolitan squad. the days when the "minnows" teams were packed with their own nationals have gone. been a nice little earner having backed them to qualify against rapid wien, and to beat olymiakos at home, then last night...........however i think thats it for this season unless some unexpected value crops up.

very conservative really. tonights winings were overall (taking into account the offsetting) about 5/1.
-
just backed donetsk at 2.22 to offset any loss.(the bad scenario is barce come back to win but chelsea lose or liverpool draw)
-
just laid off on famagusta at 2-1 so i can't lose. wish i'd have been home when they went 2 up.
-
it wouldn't be a 30 sec delay though. it would a 30 sec delay every time there was a tackle, every corner would see each push analyzed and a game of football would last as long as an american football match.
-
so by the time the ref stops to look at 5 different angles, bearing in mind he's either stopped play, possibly for no reason,or play has went on till it breaks down for him to check, maybe a couple of minutes down the line.

What a bunch of thieving Cockney bastards I loved the way Shepherd & Co were declaring dividends when we had no transfer funds, and then buying more shares in the club with the dividend money. the lid of the crypt grinds it's way over. a gnarled claw of a hand reaches up to drag the rest of the body up from it's deathly lair.

fits right in with the last half dozen or so posts

He's a full blooded player and a mouthy get but he doesn't dive or play act. That's just bullshit tbh. watch how far he throws himself when challanged from behind for a header.(any slightest touch from behind for that matter)

Hmmm... your point ?

got what he deserved for years of leaving studs in,elbowing when in for hearders then squealing like a little pink piggy with a black donkeys dick up its arse when anyone so much as looks at him.

£10 on stabaek (monday),man utd, villarael to win, arsenal not to get beat (tues) awaiting liverpool win, barce, chelsea not to lose (weds). £10 famagusta win on weds.

Of course it was about money, stop trying to change history. If anybody doesn't know then have a look here as this is how I remember it, it looks like at least two of us are wrong. http://www.toonarama.co.uk/managers/dinnisfall.html mick also said : see the season before the link you provided. re the strike, and also this http://www.toonarama.co.uk/seasons/1970s/1976-77/1976-77_diary_jan.html http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=56230.msg1515143#msg1515143 No reply I take it ? mackems.gif mackems.gif that board must've been a success though, european success, two cup finals and at the time you're talking about recently finished 5th. clearly, you have no idea, just like mick. You're not having some sort of a relationship with him are you, defending him like this ..... or as he has clearly been shown to be spouting bollocks, does he still have his tail between his legs... You're another person who insisted we would be so much better off without the fat b****** aren't you. wouldn't say insisted but given the choice of where i could see us headed with that board i thought it was worth the risk. what i do and i'll keep doing when you spout "champs lge.....top 5 in europe etc" is balance things up by pointing they appointed souness, roeder and allarcyce and were taking us backwards on the pitch whilst racking up debt off it. well, europe only once in 3 years is pretty catastrophic like, were you in a coma for those 3 years ? We're going backwards now, and fast too, since the fat b****** left. We will soon be in the position we were when the fat b****** found us, 16 years, a revamped stadium, and getting on for 100 games in europe later....... Shame you keep answering when mick is the one being asked. europe once in 3 years. not even automatic entry but the intertoto which you have to apply for. i suppose technically mcfauls 8th place finish was as high as roeders because there were more teams in the top division then. still doesn't mean that either of those teams were any good. remember 2 of those euro outings were on the same basis that millwall had theirs. ie a poor team being fa cup runners up. in short getting into the uefa cup or intertoto does not mean you are a good team. about answering when you were asking mick ,but that comment just confirms what i already thought in that you aren't bothered about any truth but are more concerned about being seen to win an argument. to use an oft used term of yours..."pathetic" All you have to do is admit the facts. Which are that the board was run like a crappy corner shop for decades until 1992, was transformed massively into a top club by the Halls and Shepherd who have left it a million miles better than they found it, and it will be very difficult to find an owner to match never mind beat, what they did. No personalites, just the facts and the legacy which is a club with higher expectations and one of the best stadiums in the country. It isn't the worst time actually - yet - but unless something changes fast its heading the same way as the period that is. And its only gone this way because they started behaving like a 2nd rate club again. Admit it, and have done with it, although I don't expect others to do the same. yes i admit they were better than what came before. i've never said any different. can you now admit that from 2004 onwards we were going backwards with little to make anyone think it was going to change? but they finished 7th in 2006 ? I've no qualms in saying that I'd have been quite happy if they were replaced by better directors, none at all, but they weren't were they ? And there is no reason why they couldn't have appointed a good manager again, and as they showed they were prepared to back him, you simply can't say that they wouldn't have bounced back. I'm not making any excuses for the damage Souness did either, I spent months telling people like Ozzie and numerous others who thought he would transform into the new Alex Ferguson just for getting rid of the "cancer" like Ferguson did at ManU that it just wouldn't be the case. I'm not bothered that the Halls and Shepherd went in essence, only that the replacements have got it all so wrong [and they have proved preferable to Ashley]. Better luck next time, and we need the good luck too, because the situation is the same. Nobody buying the club has a right to show ambition, we just have to hope that they have it and understand how its done. Of course it was about money, stop trying to change history.
