  1. i'm backing up the part that i doubt he walked for want of a left back. after that you are on your own.
  2. strikers... owen-regularly out injured martins-recently out injured, may not be fit for tomorrow viduka-always injured ameobi and smith--i don't really need to do i ? yet keegan walked about a left back. i doubt it.
  3. Who says he did?, we got a striker. we didn't at the time the left back thing came to light. unless of course he knew we were getting a striker, who it was and was happy with it ? Obviously he wanted players in a few positions and was told that certain positions would be filled, left back being one of them. it's just the way the article puts it,almost as if keegan walked because we didn't get a left back. seems bizzarre that left back was almost exclusivly the position keegan talked of when it was possibly the last position most would have been thinking of.

  5. Seems like Keegan wasn't happy with signing this fella. Will be interesting to see if he was right. the fact that it is still trotting the left back thing makes me doubt it. i can't believe keegan would actually view a back up left back as a higher priority than a striker given the present squad.

    Jonas Gutierrez

how long will he be out with that ?
  7. general comment. it was a reply to the post i quoted, particularly the second sentence of the first paragraph.
  8. KK as aplayer worked on value terms, his transfer fee was very low. the problem the club has is in paying mega bucks for players past their best.

got the blues (waving shoes....metz away first time i recall)
  10. Why do we have to be run like a business or be run like the previous regime. What is wrong with spending some of the £40m Sky give us every season like a normal football club? We'd still be living well within our means. Ashley drinks the sky money for a laugh. As you say...but why Coloccini? Don't think he's a big drinker. Do you have an opinion with regard to the original post? I know this is all one big larf to some, but since there is such a militant mood at the moment serious replies would be appreciated. I'm sorry I know nothing of the 'Evil Masterplan'. :-[ now those are words i never, ever thought i'd read.
  11. It's 1.4 billion now. Financial analysts are also compalining it is hard to unravel all his intertwined business stuff..... are you sure of sentence 1 bearing in mind sentence 2 ?
  12. don't you reckon didier will know this and hang out for the french job ?
  13. half decent team isn't good enough. Keegan broke the record transfer fee for the club for a defender when he bought Darren Peacock, in fact. He also did it again when he bought Warren Barton. Gullit paid big money to buy Marcelino and Goma when the club needed defenders. Then they did it again when they bought Woodgate. Didn't stop them buying strikers and forwards as well. But continue defending the fat b****** for all that your'e worth and ignoring these facts. Why did we sell Woodgate then if it wasn't a good deal? Or Les Ferdinand for that matter? I seem to remember a certain "fat b******" chairman describing both deals as exactly that. Les Ferdinand was sold before your scrapegoat was chairman. And Woodgate was a good deal. If you are trying to say the club didn't back its managers, then your on a different planet. Aside of this, you'll never get it, until one day you are looking at a half empty ground of a club that sells its best players. And even then, you'll never admit that you were wrong. Mike Ashley is running this club into the ground, and its extremely sad that people like you have not seen the blindlingly obvious. He doesn't care about the club, and doesn't particularly want to be successful on the pitch, so long as he makes a profit from ticket sales, player sales, TV Revenue. etc etc. Wake up and smell the coffee. oooohh more cherry picking. fred was still a major part of the decision making process when ferdinand was sold to balance the books was he not ? you only ever come back with "back the club"....you can't do it for ever with poor managers and build up debts and have a wages ratio that was stupid. sooner or laterthe finances had to rained in unless fred was going to push his millions into the club (oops sorry..he just took millions out...my mistake)
  14. Would it really be healthy for the club to have the 2 of the most important roles, staffed by 2 people who were almost to a man, hated by everyone one of our fans because of their arrogant, cocky, nasty manner when they were players? i agree with the not having wise or poyet as manager because i don't think they are up to it more so than their "previous". look at roy keane and his previous contrasted with his present demeanour. I can respect that, there's reason behind it rather than "cockney c***", "horrible b******" etc. Both are rated as up and coming managers though. Before everyone throws their hands in the air in disgust, we might reflect that the two managers chosen before Ashley were Souness and Roeder. don't really see how. poyets never managed and wise said he wanted to get out of the day to day running if a team. Didn't realise you were talking about Wise, I meant Poyet and Ince. I know Poyet hasn't managed, but he seems to be well regarded wherever he's been involved; Swindon, Leeds and now Spurs. Ince just comes across as a loudmouth t*** to me but that's just my impression. ince has done a roy keane since he moved into management ie grown up a bit, but i still don't think he;s ready for us yet
  15. Doesn't that contradict one of the basic arguments of the Ashley critics, i.e. we are operating on a buy to sell policy? Coloccini was signed before Milner's sale. In any case, if you were looking purely from a profit point of view, why spend £10m on an international centre half from a major league? For a third of that you could probably buy a defender from Africa "with potential" and a good re-sale value. i said all summer we'd probably see one 'big' signing and i think coloccini was it. i think the potential thing is a general policy that you can see through our other transfers more so. at that point i thought the board was beginning to show some balls, but almost immediately Faye left, and it started going downhill again. doesn't it strike you as strange that they'll spend over £5mill now and possibly more later for a relativly unknown spanish forward that the manager didn't want ?

  17. Exactly, that's my point FFS So why bother talking about it?.. We felt we had to move on a player so we made Milner put in a transfer request? Common man, he asked to leave and a club put in a ridiculous offer for him that not one person here would have turned down even without the request. he put in a transfer request because a club put in a bid for him and we felt it was too low, so milner asked for more wages to reflect his 'worth'. i think he saw it as a way to get the money he thought he deserved, rather than to specificlly get a move, as despite milner asking the club to keep the request private, we publicised it, basically advertising his availability. i don't know if it is true or not as im just filling the gaps with an educated guess or speculation, though it's not essential to my argument, more a devil's advocate if anything. everton's interest died down a couple of days before milner left, though i think it was that Castillo lad who was the more likely alternative to Smith, given that everton needed to replace a backup central midfielder, whereas theyd started to look at Obinna and Saha upfront. And ameobi's move also fell through a while before because of a hamstring injury. think about how much we were due for those two, the club may have budgeted in Shola's £3.5m move to Stoke (500k already paid) earlier in the summer, and Smith was to go for £4m-£5m. that matches the fee Keegan allegedly mentioned in regard to Milner's value. just something to think about. is "villa offered more than he was worth and we were after schweinsteiger" not a simpler version

  23. How do you propose he's going to make it worth £100m more than he's spent? Not by losing his number1 assett...KK So he isn't selling up then. i believe he will, when the right offer comes in... call it...a feeling i get....an educated guess...an opion based upon life experience...im sure you will quote me soon enough if i'm wrong. if the right offer is a £100mill profit there will not be a "when"
