did he go to man city from here ? thought he went to scotland both times...hibs and someone else
-
also he is extremely stupid to go there. £££££££ Sunderland are going nowhere but up, unfortunately, and getting players of the quality of Chimbonda and Malbranque in (even on big wages, which they can afford), can only help them push on. EDIT: Bit of a step up from the likes of Andy Reid and Phil Bardsley, aren't they? The pitty thing is that we are not progressing neither in the transfer market neither as a club in the recent years. I think we are million miles away from what we used to be under SBR and when you think about it,it was only 5-6 years ago... Great times... Now the reality is far more difficult to accept, especially when you see teams like Spuds,Portsmouth and even f***ing everton above us... well we have a line of managers and our previous chairman to thank for that the reality is, we need to get into europe to start attracting players again, money isn't everything and anycase, it's about time we stopped signing players on reputation long past reputation shurely ?

back in the 70's when they said "rimmers on the goal line" it meant something totally different.

For us? Easily. Still wish that shot v Liverpool went in. or the one against Chelsea.. that one stunned them proper His best is obviously the 90mph shot against Spurs under Roeder, but the dummy was nice, as was the one in he scored at St. James' in the UEFA cup (againts Levadia Tallin? left foot from the edge of the box). what dummy ? he mis controls it with his shin and this commits tainio and he then knocks it past him...there is no dummy Maybe dummy is the wrong word, but I definitely wouldn't call it mis-control. He takes it one way then brings it back with the outside of his foot. watch the side on view..there is deffo a touch in there that isn't deliberate . my mistake about it being off his shin though.

for fucks sake!! the season can't come soon enough

I take the point mate, but I'm curious as to where mick saw what he says he did ? If he can't give the link, then I'll leave it at that. He's quoted in this article as saying that he bought the club to "have some fun". He's not in it for the money. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/1301_ashley.shtml Now can we drop it? Please? Let's move on. just won't do...he said "if he can give the link"

Hope your right just spent £1000 pounds on a sledge for the kids :-[ the best sledge ever is from cosco and is £15 so i'm assuming yours came with a £985 snow machine. Is that the place you go too near the metro centre when your pissed . and when i'm sober.
-
what do you think of this board compared to the old board mick ? and what say you NE5 ?
-
course it's a piss take...i organised it for you as a welcome back present. Well it's better than the usual s**** craic you knock out. awwww i've missed you

One arranges the accommodation/mortgage for new signings, his information is normally very reliable. The probability is that the easy part (getting a bid accepted) is done, getting the players to agree to the move within our salary structure might be more of a challenge. MJ, on a side note, do you know if theres any truth in us hijacking Sunderlands Malbranque bid? I've only heard of Villa and Everton as alternative destinations for him. If the rumours that he (and Chimbonda) have been offered £80k pw by Sunderland are true, I think Newcastle, or anyone else for that matter, will be struggling to sign him. struggling or stupid ?

Try playing on the wing and hitting balls to Smith. try playing in the middle and hitting balls to smith
-
I can't think of any player who gave away the ball as much as Butt did last season. How often did he play the ball to the opposition who then had a run at goal? bit harsh and smith gave the ball away more...geremi early season and barton till fulham at home.
-
If he's on one of the wings he can either run at a defender who is probably quicker than him so he's got no advantage doing that or he can go inside. If he's in the middle he'll have players in front of him and probably to both sides as well as behind. It's easier to defend against somebody when you have a fairly good idea where he's going to make his run. That's not the case going through the middle when he can go left or right and the defenders, or opposition midfielders will not be able to read his game so easily. the last few years even the players playing in the middle have had few options due to no movement. quite often wide players get as many options due to full backs over lapping which centre halves rarely do (ie push up past the midfield)

masking tape.....not a patch on..... http://www.avfc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/2/48/0,,10265~3426306,00.jpg type sweat bands. (sorry lads ..tried to find a pic of him wearing nufc sweatbands prominintly)

I think it could be his best position as like others I think his lack of pace means he's unlikely to do well on the wing and make the position his own. I don't think he's that bad when coming inside but sometimes runs into dead ends because of his limitations. I think his limitations will be reduced if he's got more options as he can run all day and will get better as a game goes on and the opposition start to fade. Being able to run all day is as much an asset as being able to break records over 30 metres early in a game. Very few players can play on the wing and be effective for 90 minutes, I think Milner is a 90 minute player but hasn't the pace to get past too many defenders but he's not thick and could adapt. That's fair enough. I think he's fairly good at a lot of things but he's not exceptional in any one area of his game. A quality CM, like Fabregas, is excellent in virtually every area which makes CM an ideal position for him. I just think he'd get found out if you put him in there every week. Against the lesser teams it would be a good move but his versatility works against him when he's trying to cement a place in the first XI. A bit like Steve Watson, only higher up the pitch. not putting him up with these but manu petit and mendieta were jobbing full backs till someone thought they could do a job in the middle (hell man i'll even throw barry venison in there). not saying it would work but it may be worth a try.

I considered that possibility. But why do wingers like Pennant, Lennon and Downing have a much higher % than Milner? Young is comparable, but he has 14 assists to Milner's 2, so at least he's doing something with his 69%. Petrov is passing sideways is he? think of the players they wefre playing with and the style of football they were told to play (ie that lot...pass to your team mate as opposed to milners orders for most of the season...knock it there and we have a 63.8% chance of either getting a knock on or winning the 2nd ball then a 22/24% chance of getting out of our own half after that) milner looked a better player in NUFC teams that were playing better football......but everyone has their price and i don't see milner in the middle of midfiled. could see him playing as a behind-the-main -striker type.
-
i'm not too fussed. yes i'd like to have him here but seems a bit pricey for someone that age whos never played outside russia before.
-
His movement isn't fast enough you mean Aye, I suppose. He's a plodder who'll not stop running......just not quickly enough to get about the park. Personally find the idea that Milner is so slow that he can't even play in the center of the park laughable. The man's not a tortoise FFS. Slower players have played at CM just fine. you're not allowed to say that, pace is everything, technique, vision and reading of the game are pointless if he's not an olympic standard sprinter.
