more than just the result's important here. keegan had 2 days before bolton (not much chance to do much though i did see a massive change in style) then arsenal away twice. sunday is really the first game where he's had time to affect things. heres hoping
-
always liked the looks of (i think) braga's ground and the place where the faroe isles play. with both, one end of the ground is just a sheer cliff face.
-
lol you wouldnt belive how much i wanna go. just scared summit gonna go wrong!!!it costs so much money to get off this shitty island wanna have a couple nights out too. i can imagine paying all this money to get off the island taxi to newcastle too late for friday night out then game gets canceled. ill of travelled all this way and money just for a sat night out !!! bbc weather says snow today, dry saturday, rain sunday. remember in britain 12 flakes is heavy sniowfall. get a train instead of a taxi(roads tend to shut before rails)

Good post. It seems people are envious of Wenger's achievements at Arsenal yet don't want to see the same set up implemented here. Strange. Iz becoz we canna parayde dem lyek. If dey not heard of dem den they must be s*** innit?! seems like deja vue here. Under Souness we were told that it was fine to clear out the bad eggs because Alex Ferguson did, now we are being told its OK buying a load of 17 year olds because Arsene Wenger has. Quite incredible the complete rubbish that people get suckered into believing, and all because the fat b****** ate all their pies or something......... Not to mention, that Bobby Robson has been down the same path and didn't match Wenger ie Bramble, Ambrose, Viana, Gavilan, Cort, Cordone, Jeanarse, Lua Lua, Bassedas, O'Brien.............. his best buys for the club being Woodgate, Bellamy and Robert by a country mile. a big pile right there...and desperation to attack the new regime and defend Shepherd. Blatantly as well. FYI: Bramble, Ambrose, Bassedas, Cordone, Cort, O'Brien, LuaLua and Viana were not obscure 16/17 yr olds when they were signed. The only youth signings that Sir Bobby made were Gavilan, Bernard and N'Zogbia, and I'll add Jenas to that list to an extent. Bramble was a premiership player who finished 3rd with Ipswich. Bassedas was already a full Argentina international when he joined (and was 25?) LuaLua was acquired for over 2 million pounds, and was an established player in the first team of a lower division side Cort...we paid 7 million on him as he was also a premiership player at Wimbeldon O'Brien was a first teamer at Bradford (not sure if he played premiership football before they went down) Viana was young european player of the year Cordone was an unknown, but he wasn't a 17 yr old nobody If I'm not mistaken, bar Cordone (who joined on loan), the rest all cost AT LEAST a million pounds if not more. Jenas cost 5!!! What the board are doing now is plucking youth players to develop them here as part of the youth academy/reserve team. The players you mention ALL went into the first team squad. Still think you know your stuff LM...just think your argument here is a tad bit desperate and illogical. No one here is saying we don't need big players. We do. But in the meantime, if we cant get them for whatever reason, we might as well play our hand at grabbing whatever young talent we can from all over the shop, and take a chance. Haven't read the rest of the thread, so I don't know what else has been said. I'll crack on now and try and catch up interesting you talk about a big pile of s****. Because from where I'm sitting, the condemnation of a board who backed their managers and qualified for europe more than anyone else at any time in our history, more than any other team in the country bar 4, bought major international players instead of selling them, sold out the ground to 50000 people [who were actually attracted by something despite what you may "think"] is the biggest heap of absolute biggest s**** I've ever read. I am very pleased for you if you are happy with the ambition ie the transfer policy of the current board as against the old one. Because, you shouldn't be. Its been absolutely abysmal, and 2nd rate. End of. But that's not the point LM!!! What I'm saying is, if in the meantime we can't get those big players to come, what's the harm in bringing some promising prospects in parallel? Also, keep in mind that at the time you speak of, NUFC was a fashionable club, as you correctly point out qualifying for europe etc... We're a different proposition now, and are a club in turmoil. Until we steady the ship and have a clear path forward, imo we'll never attract big hungry players. We'll only be able to bring in mercenaries who've already done it all, living off of reputation and looking for one last pay day. I don't accept or believe we can't get the best players to come. I think any player worth their salt would want to play here. Our european standing and profile is also massively and totally superior in comparison to what it was, through qualifying regularly for europe, especially since 1992 when the old board finally took over and put the club on the right lines again. The judgement of a players character is down to the manager when he talks to him etc ne5 your first 3 words sum it up. as for getting the best players, always unlkey in the jan window (though to improve should be able to) oureuro standing etc mean nothing now. the one thing we have is spending power...if it is real and flexed come the sumer. convince one big money and the rest will follow if we want to spend. will it happen ?

OK ...you are now called "pizzle guzzler"

fookin hell leave it till the last minute and its too late then more than likely loose him in the summer well done mort . sorry getting angry now s*** timing I totally agree willow, why couldnt we have struck up a deal last week or earlier for this player, same with Giles Barnes, and Alvaro, what is an extra couple of million to a billionaire? fair enough he might have put £250m into the debts and the club but if he wants success he must know that we need players I'm inclined to doubt that he became a billionaire by throwing the odd million here and there at random things that he may not have needed. TBH I reckon if we actually wanted this lad and have made a botch of it in the way it would seem we have then I'm not overly impressed with Mort and Co. either. I just really can't stand the "Ah sure we're loaded, may as well throw it around for the laugh" attitude that some people seem to be adopting. what like buying a football club for £250m? if the management team wanted the lad then they should've been backed and we should've paid more, the price was lower than most would've expected anyway. if we're being stingy over one or two million here and there, to the extent that we'll go a whole window buying no-one and missing out on 3 or 4 targets, then it suggests reports of us having a big fund stashed away are as mythical as el dorado. Quite obviously the same thing, yeah. not the best of arguments. ashley got rich by scrimping and saving, cutting back on all costs, piling budget crap high and selling it at markups. if he takes that approach with newcastle we're heading for perennial mid-tablers, or worse. btw i'm not saying that is the approach he will take as NUFC is a lifestyle choice for him not simply a business investment. tho he shouldnt think he can sit back and relax after paying £100m paying off debt as to be successful a club has to speculate on players and infastructure rather than rest on laurels. owing nothing to banks means little if the money saved isnt then plowed back into the club and translates into increased success. but regardless, we had an opportunity to get barnes at what most would agree is a pretty bargain price, only had to offer one or two million more. we couldn't even bring that to the negotiating table, not exactly a good sign. and if the management team wanted the lad, then it is hardly "throwing the odd million here and there at random things he may not have needed". it's called backing the manager. the Kalouda deal might be down to Wise et al coming in late in the window which i will charitably put down to teething issues, but it is something they need to get sorted as similar (or one of the above) appeared to happen with the Woodgate deal too. errr. no he didnt that was his most visible outlet (sports world) others "karrimor","lillywhites" etc didnt pile it high ,sell it cheap. not to mention what he has made stock trading ie adidas, umbro and theres another recent one whos shares he sold months ago (at a profit) and has again went back and bought into again. so what you really mean is that he did, only he also owned other brands. and i didnt say pile it high sell it cheap, i said pile it high sell it at a markup which is what his stores do. they buy the premium brands (nike, adidas etc) in bulk and can sell those cheap but his own brands is where he makes his money. of course thats what i mean. as part of his portfolio, and where he started out he had the lower end of the market before expanding to other parts of the market.

it's the FA we are talking about. surprised it's not triplicate parchment sent on horseback

he was decent till the man citeh (a) game. always a sure touch and cleared his lines. when he had time he used the ball well. he was scapegaoted by allardyce after that game for allardyces wank tactics. he may well be a defensive thomasson.......if that shot had went in he may have made it (JDT V sheff wed-----roz V derby)
-
if he was quoted as saying such he'd get a hammering so i doubt it. more probably spurs enquired, not even a bid, we said no.
-
same with woodgate then ?
-
unhappy at not getting a regular game......which fotballer wouldn't be ? unhappy at being played out of what he considers to be his best position...what footballer wouldn't be ? more media frenzy out of little story

there still may be a major difference between us and arsenal. getting the players s one thing...developing them is the clever part
