  1. very interesting interview just been on 5live with paul kelmsley (?) who was hinting strongly that ashley already has someone lined up
  2. we are fucked if the glimmer of improvement is an unrealistic expectation
  3. if allardyces team had improved he'd still be in charge with his 27points
  4. it's not really the reaults or where we finish but the feeling that we are improving (as in under robson the first couple of years). admittedly the football throughout the country has changed in this respect and listening to radio5 this season i've never heard so amny "booo's " from fans, no,no not just us
  5. wobbie wotten Wibble wobble. well you may have seen them. i couldn't possibly comment
  6. a preparatory season for next surely
  7. Well obviously; that'll be the reason why Sam'll have gone most probably - they've got money to spend but they don't want him to spend it. But to get rid of him and give it to Harry would just be senseless. Not entirely, if they didn't believe Sam would spend it correctly. For all the positives he was apparently bringing behind the scenes, on the pitch (where it counts) we were f****** turgid for the most part. A win ratio of 33% also has to be one of the worst, if not THE worst we've had, since Keegan? 3rd worst, Souness 2nd, Guillet 1st souness improved us to start with and coped (maybe craeted) massive injuries....allardyce goes above guillit
  8. If given time and money i think Hughes or Redknapp could turn us into a good team on par or better than the likes of Everton, Villa and Man City, but Big Sam might have done the same who knows. We all know they won't get that time before the idiots with their deluded fantasies of Shearer/Mourinho being appointed and instantly turning us into Barcelona are calling for him to be sacked. There would be a huge backlash from the fans if Hughes or Redknapp are appointed though, while Sam was here he had his haters and his backers and i was a backer myself. To appoint a manager who isnt much better than Sam would be a disaster waiting to happen, if it went tits up like it did for Sam, the usual crowd will want rid and those who backed Sam last time will want rid aswell because they will be thinking "well what the f*** was the point in sacking Sam? who we backed!". expectations now that we have a billionaire owner....i'd take redkanpp or hughes but would prefer others
  9. So why let it last that long... why delay the inevitable (or the very likely), why not just get on with it and try and make the nightmare stop? With respect to booing making us look like a laughing stock, I think we've already set new standards for that. We're already such a joke, booing isn't going to change much. At least we'd look like we had some clue as to the type of manager we don't need. oh the booing has been creeping back in for a while, not just at SJP
  10. Isn't that the exact same line of thought when Sam and Souness joined us? Look at what they did with that small club, imagine what they could do at our club with a bigger budget. So, how'd that work out for you then? Any reason it won't be the same again this time? What Souness, Roeder and Allardyce have proven to me is that there are 3 tiers of managers in the EPL. Those who manage clubs that move between the Championship and the EPL and specialize in getting teams promoted but can't go on with it, those that ensure their clubs stay in the EPL and will play whatever style of football that takes (long-ball, hyper-defensive, conservative, boring), and those that ensure their clubs stay in Europe (attract the super talented players, can spot talent no one else can, maintain an excellent scouting infrastructure, etc...). None of the managers we have had since SBR have been the type to keep us in Europe, but neither is Redknapp or Hughes. rather them than allardyce from what i've seen...hopefully none of them
  11. I know this sounds like a wind up question, but it is genuine.... why? Given its fairly obvious that Redknapp would also be sacked inside of 18 months, since its unlikely he's going to do any better, why not boo him and let the owner know that he's fecked up and has to do better than that? Getting behind him and backing the appointment will only give Ashley and Mort the delusion they have done the right thing (either in sacking Sam or in appointing Redknapp). why is it fairly obvious ? Comparison of relative records. I think its fair to say that Redknapp's record is not better than Sam's, at best it might be classed as equivalent. Redknapp brings no unique skill sets that are better than Sam's, he has no additional capabilities beyond those of Sam's. So given his record isn't better, his skill set isn't better and his experience isn't better, why would anyone think he's going to be better than Sam? he has over recent seasons and who is to say what will happen when a manager form a club with "x" spending power steps up to a club with better (hopefully) spending power. i've watched pompey and allaryces bolton/newcastle...........one of them plays football

  13. i honestly don't think he could make up lies like that....well he could but wouldn't get them into copy, but he could embellish the truth, build on a simple story..suppose only time will tell

    Jose Mourinho

Hadn't Chelsea just finished second, got to the semi-finals of the Champions League and had an owner who had proven the previous season he was willing to spunk more cash than anyone else in the history of the game? Newcastle is a small fish in a big pond, Mourinho is a big fish in a big pond. We're not going to get him. and what if the newcastle owner was to say to mourinho he would spunk as much money and keep out of playing affairs ? would he come ?

Wow. Your superior "I'm a smart arse" skills have really flattened me there. I feel like a right berk. Here, have a biscuit and f*** off. Was merely bringing up a small known fact. JM declined because he knew SBR would never step down as manager as was proposed in the deal. so really he wanted a managers job for himself
  16. You're a piece of work. It wasn't "blindingly obvious" it was a barely plausible scenario that I chose to dismiss based on prior history of the man. When liars speak you tend to doubt them. If he's right he's right and I hold my hands up and say I was wrong. Sorry, but I think it was blindingly obvious something was happening. As you said "prior history of the man". You should learn to take such things on face value. Whatever you think of Oliver, and as a journalist he has to find things to write about and so will produce articles to fill space, but the FACT is that very few people are in a better position to know what is going on at the club, and this particular one was such that he just would not have printed it if he had not felt able to substantiate the information. ALL journalists print s****, but it doesn't mean everything they print is s****. As people have dismissed Shepherd on the same basis ie he's a fat b****** over the years even when he did something right, I'm not really surprised though at the lack of judgement and consistency. good point but the last paragraph gives you your reputation. To me, it simply proves that a lot of people are unable to make a measured judgement. I don't see what "reputation" it gives me, other than I look at the facts and don't let personalities influence what I can see of how people can be good for the club or not. If people don't have good judgement or don't understand what is important and what isn't, then its their problem. the reputation that everything has to return to "that" same argument even when you are posting on unrelated matters I don't think its unrelated in the slightest. I think it proves conclusively that people's "opinions" are completely based on their perception of them personally rather than looking at things through hard logic. "so ne5 what do you think about the bay city rollers contribution to popular music ?" "well madras, i think like freddie shepherd they took more stick than they should have got"

more chance houllier or lippi than jose no because lippi not proven in premiership (lame i know), houllier, already tried and ultimelty unsuccessful at a premiership club so we are only after a manager succesful at a prem club ? ferguson,wenger,mourinho...........................or dalgluish then
  18. it's already been covered about suspended betting...it happens when bookies get a sustained run of bets on one option or a big out of the ordinary bet....betting was suspended on dave jones and glenn hoddle becoming nufc manager a while back

The Krankies? morweena banks used to on "absolutely" Now she could quite probably have my body to use and abuse if she played her cards right. its true its true it is
  22. spookily harry has disappeared off oddschecker and mourinho has came into 10's from 16's. don't think the bookies have a real clue and are reacting to bets placed (betfair may be skewing the odds as some may bet on and lay off)
