last season when i got used to him i'd just think"he'll not get past him" when anyone had a go at him. defensivly much better than warnock and hopefully with a bit experience under his belt and a more natural and settled line up ie someone orthadox on the left he'll go on from that.

common sense say a lot of clubs haven't made their major moves in the market. i'd be happier had we concluded more deals by now but i can see a lot of clubs making their deals well after the season has kicked off.
-
lots of quotes fron an ex pro who knows as much about what is going on as the rest of us.

keegan may well be the same bloke with the players but the messages he is sending to the fans aren't the confident, let's at least have a go sounds of his first spell in charge here. yes times have changed but you don't say "we'll never win it in my time here" when you can say "i don't know where we'll finish but we'll give it our best and then look to improve on that each season".

This. That. the other

i've been thinking that for a while. the s*** press are whipping places like this into a frenzy (can't understand why as everyone on here slags the press off and claims not to believe a word they print)
-
just as i say "don't buy the shit papers" and it'll kill the oxygen (advertsing) they need. same goes with talk shite radio. if you want shit journalism like this to stop, the only way is to turn off,no-one listening...the advertisers won't pay...the station shuts. alternativly...listen and complain...they'll still make their money.

think back to the season we finished 3rd with robson. how many times did we come back in the last 15 with very few from set pieces. We had a good team which had the fitness to tear the oppo to bits when the oppo were tiring.
-
no earthquake due then ?

that a serious opinion or am i missing the sarcasm? either way i'd tend to agree, especially if you consider benfica might have an outside chance of a title challenge too... It is an opinion, but it only applies if we have missed out. If so, it is the fault of the previous chairman for playing in a market that was unsustainable in the long term. james, i'm gonna resist the urge to respond to this with "what the f*** are you on about" and instead say: unless this is an attempt to be witty i'm gonna assume you mean that we could only offer aimar 40k a week (for example) due to the extravagent wages FS and his board laid out on players, if that hadn't been the case we might have offered more wages to aimar and he'd have perhaps come? if i'm right with this interpretation that is so far beyond common sense & logical reasoning there isn't even a word or measurement for it if that's not what you meant or you were being funny then what did you really mean? My point is that the club can't afford to be paying the type of wages Shepherd was handing out, and thus when we offer players a fraction of Owen's wage, they are likely to be offended. in the style of kyle from south park: "reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally?" so shepherd was handing out wages & that was bad, yet if he hadn't done that ashley would be able to offer aimar high wages to tempt him to the club? i was right in the first place, are you kidding me man? you can see that makes no sense right? you've invented your own version of catch 22 Shepherd created a market where any proven player would expect to get at least £50k. Had he not done so, expectations abroad would be lower, and therefore we could compete with Monaco and Benfica. Fact is that he was throwing cash away with only the short term in mind. that takes some believing.........if we offer more than benfica or monaco then if the player is after money alone he'd come regardless of wether he expected more or would have gor more a couple of years ago

Looks like that. The league's unpredictable anyway, but I'll make a prediction nonetheless. We will not be anywhere near promotion. after yo posted the initial story i quickly zoomed onto betfair to see if there was any value there...........5/2 alongside doncaster with blackpool and barnsley being favourites for the drop.

watford now joint 3rd faves to go down on the back of that

how far is VDV away from the end of his contract ? 2 years I read a while ago Real Madrid just taking the piss. £65m for Ronaldo and £4m for VDV how about a bid to unsettle someone to agitate for move....or maybe just meeja bullshit

KK said we are waiting for things to happen like a lot of other clubs. How much more do you want him to say? The reason we are not hearing anything is because the club has moved away from the wankers in the media and stopped leaking stories like the fat one used to. You'd better get used to it as it will be this way for a long time. Here we go again, another "Oh it's just the wonderful way we are doing business now" merchant. Fact of the matter is that we are somewhere close to 7 or 8 players short in numbers and the collective quality of those that we can field is average at best. There are less than four weeks to the start of the season and we've still got a huge amount of work to do. Action speaks louder than words, but all we are getting here is lack of action and lack of words. Your rant is misdirected. None of the "Oh it's just the wonderful way we are doing business now" merchants, as you put them, would deny we are short in quality and numbers. To attribute that attitude to them is disingenuous and incorrect. The "merchants" are just of the view that since 99.9999999% of everything the newspapers print is bollocks anyway that it doesn't matter if they're not saying anything about us and to not be concerned with the silence in the press, who, after all, had sweet f*** all of an inkling about gutierrez and only half of a tenth of an idea about guthrie. A tighter lid is being kept on things these days and so a lack of ridiculous player links is to be expected. That is all. Again, NO ONE who is unconcerned with the silence in the press thinks our squad is anywhere near where it should be. load of rubbish mate to be honest. Those who accuse others of believing what they want to think ie signings aren't around the corner, but in the next breath insist they are optimistic because they are around the corner........ Baseless optimism is all it is. The facts are that the club is nowhere near signing the players needed, or attaining the quality of team and footballers that Newcastle should have, and the worse thing of all is that nobody at the club is actually telling us what their ambition and targets is. Public Relations nightmare, is what it is. And lack of action, and sadly , actions speak louder than words. And there isn't even any words. Has Keegan been gagged I wonder ? you know we could argue all night and forever about most of that but the very last bit "Has Keegan been gagged I wonder ? ".....do you think keegan would allow himself to be in that situation ? not a dig....i've had one thread already about keegan not being what he was,but better than the recent past.

so he was playing for falkirk and our goalkeeping coach at the same time ?
-
shut up man...it's took us bloody ages to get shot of him. we've had to ramp up prices, force vodka down the necks of 14yr olds to make them kill people. we've had to hire 1 third of poland to come over here just to get shot of him.....don't go putting him off

its not like we've spent bucketloads though, a bit more for one player that has shown quality wouldn't go a miss, surely? Its like treating yourself to a new expensive pair of jeans, you only do it once in a while as to not break the bank too much, whereas if you did it every week you'd soon come to regret it. ....if you get me drift. true to a point........but what if you weren't sure about how long the jeans would last, not sure even if they lasted they'd be very unstylish ina year or so and cost £300 ? I suppose thats part of the risk, and perhaps something that has crossed Ashley's mind. If he's not prepared to spend big on an older player, fair enough. not just ashleys by the looks of it

then again...if someone bought him now. let him have a couple of months out,he'll not be cup tied and will be fresh for when it really starts. i just don't think anyone wants to risk too much on a player that age who's never played in the "major" leagues before.

Haven't we been linked with Warnock over the past few days with their chairman admitting they turned down a bid? thats the story but i haven't seen anything from either side quoted

i think he was goalkeeping coach on his 3rd stint here. but packed in when he moved on.
-
I think, if he was coach here, when he went to city, it wouldnt show up on wiki that he was here, im not certain of the facts, but feel there was something unusual about it. soccerbase has him leaving falkirk and joining citeh on the same day http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=1156

he's thankless shinawaddywaddys defence lawyer.
