  1. Brighton away in the cup. Coach dropped us in London for a few hours, Chelsea were leaving from St Pancras, West Ham from KX.... 2 Coaches of NUFC in the middle. Chaos.
  2. The 80s was me being the perfect age, 13 to 23, it was literally formative. I grew up there, from a kid who wouldn't say boo to a goose to hitching to games, jumping trains and fighting for survival. It was so much easier, bump into friends on Friday night and deciding to go away the next day, no applying for tickets just turn up but running the gauntlet on each trip.
  3. We were middle of the scoreboard when I went with my dad. I've no recollection of people pissing in pockets but remember gaps opening as blokes just went on the terrace, that was mid 70s. Starting on my own with mates aged 11 nearly 12 (first game on my own was a 0-0 draw with Fulham, i think John Brownlie missed a pen) but we'd go to the E or A wing paddocks, like yourself just about first in the ground then and pick a concrete barrier to get on closer to KO. Not sure it was the best times, yeah it was easier to get to games but most of what was good about it was because of the age we were.
  4. One or the other, they've used both in the past.
  5. I said 442 for Palace. Doesn't matter which wide players, play two, tell them to give it full jets and change them when tanked.
  6. I have a muscle reflex to shout "Leave it Woodgate, just let it go out".
  7. I always get this way at this point of the season. Worn out with it and want it over.
  8. Anyone have an idea what Hopkinson was like with the press at other places? He didnt say anything particularly bad but the way our press plays on things and likes to set things up (we've no plans to sell someone=didnt say definitely not for sale then goad them into making a definitive hoping to drag them down later)
  9. My recent knowledge of Italian football isnt what it was. Haven't Fiotwntina been poor for a number of years and last season was a flash in the pan ? Also I'd expect most English middle table clubs to do Italian counterparts these days. Thats TV money for ya.
  10. I did (and Im sure anyone that played regularly did).....and we paid for the pleasure.
  11. Youth team keeper in for Norwich wasn't it ? 3rd or 4th choice at least.
  12. We played up to 10. If the keeper lost he stayed in. Stopped him letting in goals to get out of goal. Me and a mate also had a variant (which the keeper wasn't aware of) called "Ooooomph" in which the aim wasn't to score but to hit the keeper, which was fun from about 10yds.
  13. You went in goal after 1 volley wide ?
  14. First to 10, forwards or keeper. If the keeper wins it was the forward who gave the keeper most points who went in goal.
  15. No, had to be true volleys. We also played the keeper could get points if you volleyed or headed wide
  16. Need an explanation how thats not a pen like.
  17. Love it when commentators dont know the rules. Gomez dangerously in from behind, doesnt matter if he gets the ball.
  18. World Cup singles or doubles.

And our pathway might have been better had we better players to follow any path. Its not like the Premier league is full of our ex youth teams players.
  20. Probably just me but where as other top teams have defined styles and organisation, Real Madrid always seem to be just "play the best players"
  21. And Daniel Cordone, though we didnt sign the soldered earing'd one from them.

Its not just getting them, we've brought in highly sought after youngsters before but never developed them. Here's hoping.
