The 80s was me being the perfect age, 13 to 23, it was literally formative. I grew up there, from a kid who wouldn't say boo to a goose to hitching to games, jumping trains and fighting for survival. It was so much easier, bump into friends on Friday night and deciding to go away the next day, no applying for tickets just turn up but running the gauntlet on each trip.

Not sure it was the best times, yeah it was easier to get to games but most of what was good about it was because of the age we were.

We played up to 10. If the keeper lost he stayed in. Stopped him letting in goals to get out of goal. Me and a mate also had a variant (which the keeper wasn't aware of) called "Ooooomph" in which the aim wasn't to score but to hit the keeper, which was fun from about 10yds.

First to 10, forwards or keeper. If the keeper wins it was the forward who gave the keeper most points who went in goal.
