I'm happy to trust my own eyes on game I watch (and the xG is usually in i e with that) trusting my eyes doesn't help much on games I don't see but want to get a handle on what happened ie for gambling purposes. Say if team A has won its last three games 1-0 but had an xG of 0.1 against 5.0 in each game, I may not be so confident on them being in good form as opposed to maybe Bruceing a game or two.

Re the "could have played all night and not scored" stuff it's a football fan thing to say that as a team misses chance after glorious chance. .........then when one goes in "it was coming, we've had the chances".
-
You'll have to get me the stats, if we largely restricted them to wild shots from 20yds their xG woukdne have been so high. I'm struggling to believe you've never took part in one of those " how did we win/not win with all the great chances we/they had compared to ours/theirs" conversations, it's the essence of the smash and grab, the we woz robbed that happens the footballing world over.
-
Totally agree. We get into to our seats as the teams are coming out then I'm totally absorbed, usually grab a half time pint, reach seats as teams are coming out for 2nd half and absorbed again.
-
So you've never took part in one of those conversations like I described earlier ?
-
I probably wouldn't go if I had to go straight there and back either side of the match. It's much more than that. It is the social bit, it is the pre match pub, it is (for the most part) my social diary. It starts the day before with a text off a mate deciding how we are getting in and the afterwards largely depends on the result.
-
It's not like, have you never came out the match and said to mate "how did we not win that, we had 6 great chances they had 1" that's basically what xG is, all fans do it. The accountancy thing is crap and verging on corruption.
-
And two weeks down the line if Spurs do OK the line changes completely. It's all for clicks and to get people to ring in, the more outrageous the better.
-
He'll be happy then.

Do they sell Haribo in the US ?
-
Man City league cup game I think and once in a friendly in Japan.
-
Gordon would go there when Barnes is back or even Gorson over there again with Willock/Joelinton doing their lefty bromance.
-
I've said similar re Hall moving further forward a bit in a low risk game, as much to satisfy my own curiosity as anything else. He seems to have the skill set and we have tried him in midfield a couple of times but before he settled up here.
-
Should hell have a capital 'H' ?
-
I mean if he was, say 22/23. Looking at recent England squads and the options for wide right haven't had great seasons.
-
If he was younger, on this seasons form, would he be pushing for an England place ?
-
These guys have still got to be in the mix.

I just think that in situations like that it's difficult and he probably done the right thing in staying with Onuachu, playing percentages staying with the tall striker. The more I've watched it the more I get annoyed with Joelinton.
-
He's actively trying to cover 2 or 3 attackers. Shown more awareness? He's attempting to cover all bases If it's a deeper cross to the 2 he's covering then he can make a stronger challenge but for some reason you don't question why he's left alone with 3, Joelinton seems to follow Bednarak a bit then stops at the edge if the box, Tonali never attempts to get goal side or close to a man. It was a massive collective failing of which I'd say Tino was least at fault.
-
Rewatch the goal and tell me what on earth Joelinton is doing.
-
He was on his toes for the other two attackers he was left to mark. Making the adjustment leaves you flat footed. You kind of hedge your bets in that position and he gambled on the two attackers with him as opposed to the one who strode through unmarked. I'll add in he ends up with Onuachu on his back
-
Even their allowed goal I think is being ultra critical of Tino. As the ball is played he has 2 attackers, no one track Badnerak. If anything he's caught a bit flat footed, naturally as he's also covering the other two. More so it's a massive Joelinton failing
-
I've just watched it back 3 times and you are saying he have gambled on Schar leaving it ? You see Tino step up as much thinking Schar will play it as playing offside. Don't get the Tino criticism here, it's all Schar in my eyes.
-
Caught between two stools. Tino comes in and the cross is deeper then he's criticised for that. For the offside goal he played the offside itself perfectly and probably wasn't expecting Schar to leave it and no was was he getting anywhere near their scorer. Sometimes all you can do is stand and hope.

Re earlier conversation going on.......The real world ? Wtf does that even mean, everyone is in their own real world, psychotics undergoing an episode are in their real world.
