  1. Just to caveat what I posted above. Providing we are all together and we are working for the same thing, defeats when they come will be easier to take. I'd love to see wor flags having their flags from places on the walk up to the ground, a celebration of us, win or lose, all in it together and when we lose applauding the team because they gave their all, its all we can ask for.
  2. I love at the minute, match days, going in earlier than I have done the last decade plus, the carnival atmosphere, the game itself, the afterwards are like New year's eves of old, staying out longer because I want to celebrate, talking to strangers like I've known them for years. I don't want this to stop. I hope we never treat it as the usual, like we should have it, like it's our right.

I'd still say no. I want ours conditioning, playing controlled behind closed doors games rather than playing league games down the ladder. I'm all for other teams doing it.

but we'll all stil do it like fans do all over the world, say who we'd pick and why the manager got it wrong/right.

Not even alternate. Horses for courses, pick the best team for each game, maybe Wilson, maybe Isak, maybe both. We won't be far off doing that for most of the team.

To be fair, thousands may have walked away.........but were replaced by more. Or may e the North Sea was quiet that year and there was a year of fewer deaths on Wearside.
  7. You know, I wouldn't believe that of most people
  8. Look at the changing roles so far this season with Joe, Willock, Longstaff, even Trips has changed roles depending on opposition. I don't mean how they've evolved, I mean how they change game to game depending on what Howe plans for that game. Imagine doing it with a better squad. Few guaranteed starters and everyone drilled to that games plan.
  9. I go back to an Athletic article from a little while back about the transformation from positions to roles. Yes we play with a high intensity and I think could be drilled for most players, one thing we are lacking is players (plural) who can be creative from several positions and add goals. So far our staff have been fantastic at identifying players and getting more out if them than seemed possible. I'm happy yo let them get who they think works.
  10. That's off the ball. In possession we have much more room to improve. Do you not think someone like Maddison could be an effective presser under Howe ?
  11. While I get that what's the end point ? Should we cut off ties ? We'd also need to do it with most of the Middle East and China. Could our economy handle that ?
  12. That's assuming we continue to try to replicate the way we play now going forward and he doesn't have the ability to take on new tactics.
  13. Does he suit our style ? Probably not right now. More importantly would he fit the way Eddie sees us playing in the future ? Has he the capacity to change his game the way Eddie wants it given that the way we play now will not be the finished article.

    Garang Kuol

Using the example of Garnacho (again) who came over after Brexit from Spain without even any Under 18 caps at the time. How would he be allowed to play but Kuol, Commonwealth citizen and full international wouldn't?

We know that's not really the case though........ and so do they

    Fabian Schär

Got to put Longstaff in there as well.
  17. It's going to be interesting watching if/when the likes of him move on. Will they take the attitudes that we have developed here and pass them on at their new clubs. Will they be able to pass on a kind if Trippier effect elsewhere ?

    Garang Kuol

I'd have thought full international even for Aus would carry more than being a Spanish youth player without a first team start or even Intl cap at even under 18 level ? Anyway, I'm confident we'll get him. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he was sent out on loan anyway, I know Portugal was mentioned but his brother plays in Germany.

    Garang Kuol

He came from Atletis youth team, joined Man Utd before he even had an Under 18s cap. Kuol is a full international. Edit but as you've just said above, Big clubs get away with the exceptional talent bit. We can do that now.

I don't see why ? You'd think being an Aussie (commonwealth and all that) would currently carry more weight.
  21. TBF I'm fairly sure we'd have done the same in that situation.

How did Garnacho get in ? Pretty sure the larger clubs have ways of getting what they want in these situations "outstanding young talent etc"
