There is plans to the west end, quayside, team valley and metro centre. Be years of even if they do come into play, which depends on mass finance from the government. There are other plans in consideration also for other areas. I'd have though the west end plans would've been from Central station. If you see at my post above, you have to take into account the engineering side and what is more what is most practicable and cheapest way of building the infrastruture and laying the track for any possible extension. If you built it from Central the knock on effect in terms of mass disruption to the city centre and the probable effects on the national rail network at Central for an extended period of time would imho not be allowed. You have to lay track, signalling, points overhead line etc. and in terms of an engineering, commerce, local and political aspects this would be a nightmare and I just can't see it happening. That's why the potential plans in place go a totally different direction. There was little disruption to heavy rail during the original building of central station metro. Throw in the easily accessible corridor west of the Central, that would make more sense using the existing track bed that's now a cycle path as opposed to going through Arthur's hill ? This was discussed and found not to be feasible. The disruption would be heavy as the original work was mainly adjacent to the national rail and running parallel in the direction to Gateshead and Monument. Going to the West End wouldn’t be. It would also stop all Metro services into the city centre and heavily disrupt bus services also. It’s not only Nexus who make these findings, the feasibility studies were done in conjunction with Network Rail and the Council. Going via St James (which apart from events at St James) has one of the lowest patronage on the system would be the most feasible and have far less impact by a massive margin. You then have to look at the effect on commerce in the city centre. I'd like to see their workings out on this as theres already existing line down to Forth yard. It would mean joining that up with the Central metro line. Work on St James' metro will be easier but the rest of the line , even a link from there to the riverside branch would seem to be more hassle than joing up to Central station metro.

Have there been any plans to expand the metro from St James' ?

Commentary sounds a tad biased.

You missed out the grim reaper.

You get the feeling it's actually just dawning on them they may be stuck down there.

Ex NUFC midfielder with a dodgy reputation, not particularly liked by many Newcastle fans puts stops SAFC getting automatic promotion. Next up quite possibly Lee Bowyer.

Think Ajax can do them.

I'm a romantic and have fallen in love, again, with Ajax. So want them to win Champs league.

Fulhams centre forward looked decent at the weekend.

The night we stopped over there were a few Blackburn fans as they had played that day. Impromptu games of street football. We used a football to guide us to pubs. Punt it down the street and go in the nearest pub to where it landed.

That semi we stopped overnight in Gloucester. Drove there then train to Cardiff. Same coming out but no overnight we made Wetherby and I rang a mate to see where he was........."Still in the fucking coach park in Cardiff!"

Fairly sure HTT never stopped going. Best of both worlds, still go then come on here and slag of those that still go. Why didnt I think of it ?

It's amazing how they rewrite history about their sewpa hard fans, as I went to a few games at Roker in the 80's/early 90's when football hooliganism was in it's pomp, and our lot wandered around with impunity and absolutely took the piss....they were literally nowhere to be seen. Sunderland was a stroll in the park compared to most grounds back then (especially Boro) but reading their threads on RTG, and it's about how they smashed everybody and anybody there. We were there in the 92/93 season (Liam O'Brien over the wall) and we basically took over the place and there was nothing they could do about it. Not only did we have the entire Roker End but they also moved their own fans out of the Clock Stand Paddocks and handed that over to us as well. I remember we parked up about a mile from the ground and it was NUFC everywhere, in fact we barely seen a mackem until we got inside. It was just one big pisstake and something they've never been able to do up here. Officially we had 7k there I think but in reality it was a whole lot more than that. Boro on the other hand was very dodgy. Only went to Ayresome Park once (beat them 3-1 in the league cup) and that was a pretty intimidating experience. Even the first few years at their new ground you had to have your wits about you. Roker park was a breeze I was there for the 0-0 in 90 (Burridge pen save, 91-92 liam obrien in the fog and the over the wall the year after. The worst shit we got was bricks being thrown on walk from Seaburn to the ground. Boro and Ayresome park on the other hand was a Different beast entirely you risked your life going there especially by train with the subway in the station Boro on the train. It would stop at Thornaby, cops would get on and point to a patch of wasteland where their "lads" were and tell you if anyone wanted to get off for a fight by them they ( the police) wouldnt be around to be involved........no one got off the train. When I grew up and worked down that way I was told it only really happened when we went, consequently others (Danny Dyer voice) "took liberties"

Desperate to beat Shola's European goals tally. To put it into perspective Sunderlnad have scored 4 european goals in their entire history. Titus Bramble, Lee Bowyer, Lomano Lua Lua and Antoine Sibieraki have 4 euro goals a piece for us.

Am I not right in thinking that you only qualify for that if you've genuinely gone for the ball? (apologies if this has already been discussed today; not checked the thread...) Is It? I thought they wouldn't get the double penalty unlessit was violent conduct. Probably wrong like. -

Was it not the perfect example of the double jeopardy rule ? And I'm astounded at our winner, must be at least a couple of years since that sort of decision went for us. Looking at last week then today I wonderif teams have sussed out our 3/5 at the back but we adapted well. Next line up could be on interesting -

The mugging won't be in the price. I reckon the price he's put around has been fair enough to get interest. It's what goes with it that makes possible buyers alter their price or walk away. It'll be on going advertising, Rangers style merchandising deals and probably more.

Perez showing his early season form. Muto for him and Ki for Hayden please.

Just watching midweek MOTD and their keeper is hilarious after Schar's goal. He's off the pitch doing a shoulder stand.

I get the Carrick comparisons but only inn the coolness and tempo way. Reminds me a little of Woodgate defensively in that he just edges opposition out rather than blockbuster challenges. Got to wonder if Rafa would have used him if he wasn't forced ?
