This will be heresy on here but in the wider world Rafa isnt seen the way he is here and why would Ashley offer him 1 years contract ? To keep things steady (and probably in the prem) till the sale goes through, then hes easy to get rid of. I realise many see any sale as a joke but the offer of a 1yr contract only points that way. FWIW I'd guess that's Ashley hedging his bets as he'd be happy to wing it .

After all that I'm still pretty much in the same place, there has been contact from a large and respected company and Ashley may be stringing us and them along, word of heads of terms being agreed and we'd expect, if it's done competently that it wouldnt be played out in the media. Im still expecting an announcement, whether its Ashley to say it's off or BZG to say it's done, for all Odins antics, little has really changed.

Such as the loss of a major asset will affect the sale of an organisation/business/club. Not if he wasnt who they want, could also explain the 1 year contract offer. As in they don't want him...but actually they do want him for a year? Your optimism is quite something at this point. By having a year he can keep things going and hes a lot cheaper to get rid of if they actually finalised the deal from both Ashley's side and any prospective buyer........and I'm far from optimistic. Thing is, after what was made public by BZG, if it was being done competently we wouldnt know anything, it wouldnt be played out in the Sun etc. However if it was dead and nothing was happening, it would be to Ashley's benefit to keep it all quiet to keep the fans hanging on in hope.

But now he is wanting £150 million up front. Surely that wouldn’t be a show stopper for BZG if the reports of their assets are true. Would be if they didnt think it was worth that much. I can afford to pay £20 for a coffee but I'm not going to. Not really analogous given what he said was about payment structure not overall price/cost. True enough. Is there the same "proof" of another bidder as there is BZG ?

Which is significantly different to "there is no takeover". As it stands it looks like something is happening but no one would be surprised if its scuppered by Ashley pushing for more and more.
