  1. When his name was first mentioned a couple of month back, was there any mention of who his backers were ?
  2. ’Ashley admits talks are exclusive with one party’ He has literally said the opposite. He literally hasn't said the opposite like.
  3. Personally don't think it's got much to do with todays protest. A lot to do with the upcoming transfer window.

Got to be happy for them. They've battled through the early rounds to be in with a chance of being in with the big boys and, should they beat Walsall, have a chance to be giantkillers.
  5. It's December............ Trees up....check! Pubs packed with people who come out twice a year.........check Buying 3 months worth of food to get through 2 days...........check NUFC about to be sold.........check.
  6. We bought Shearer for a world record fee then the next window what happened ?Then Ferdinand was sold the following summer to start balancing the books.
  7. Agree with all that. He humiliated defenders in ways that made us giggle. That Bolton away game, his second for us I think, gave so many moments when you looked at your mates and just "wow" in a way you didn't with Robert. That Arsenal league cup when Winterburn was walking thinking he'd been sent off but no a s*** ref booked Daveed instead and even Winterburn couldn't believe it and between him and Dixon they realised they could foul carte Blanche, then Ginola wanted away in my eyes. That Arsenal match was the moment when it changed for him IIRC. He'd been accused of diving, but 90s diving in the sense that he'd be considered robust by today's standards, and as you say got kicked all over by their players without any protection from the ref, probably assuming that he was play acting. I've never been able to like Lee Dixon since. I think that time aswell he realised we weren't going to strengthen and like Keegan before him, realised the money wasn't there
  8. I clearly remember the booing. It was embarrassing. It's happened to other players too when it seems bizarre and unjustified. I suppose we can reconcile that by realising that if 500 people in a crowd of 50,000 are audibly booing then that becomes the story. It's the 50th time I've made exactly the same point, but James Milner was booed. A player who always put in his all and didn't even want to leave. If he's getting booed you've got no chance. It's not just us either, it's the modern football fan going blindly tribal and it's a right shame. The Steve Watson booing was hilarious mind. I think Sir Les got booed on his first touch for giggles aswell.

  10. Ferdinand had to go to balance the books, I've always personally thought that's why Keegan left, he saw a massive rebuilding job (Sir Les 30 and didn't play for Spurs for monthsHowey and Albert with long-term injuries that would continue, Beardsley getting older and was shot towards the end of the previous season and thats before the Shearer and Asprilla injuriea) and the money wasn't there.
  11. Wasn't Robert dropped and called lazy defensively? I still don't think Robert would've been as good a fit as Ginola 8n that team mind........and my problem with Ben Rafa wasn't his work rate defensively but when we had the ball. Can opened and there's worms in there.

They look nailed on man.anyhoo minimum 3/4 seasons out of the PL will put them so far back they will struggle to ever make an impact in the top flight, they have missed out on £400 million or so , can’t wait to play them though. They've missed out on 400million compared to most premier teams.......but us?
  13. Seen a debate on Twitter a while back and I think this'll spark another one here, but regarding your own all time NUFC XI, who's on the left: Daveed or Robert? Depends really. Favourite/better footballer: Ginola. More effective: Robert. Also this To throw something else in I think both were more effective in the teams they were I in, by which I mean Robert wouldn't have been as effective in Keegans team and Ginola wouldn't have been as effective in Robsons. For me Ginola wins purely cos he was a better watch.
  14. Eh?! Yedlin's been one of our best players this season for me. We only have one left-back. Anyway, we'll sign no fucker Tradition dictates we'll sign a loanee who will play for 37minutes.

They drew with Wallsall I've been following Newcastle for 35 years and I can never remember us being so bad that we had to play against Walsall. We have had to play the likes of Shrewsbury,Cambridge,Southend,Port Vale and Grimsby and also lost to Stevenage in the cup. Still never been as shit to be in 3rd tier though It must be galling for them to have had such a run and not be clear by any means As I say I still can never remember us being bad enough to have to play Walsall. Im sure they beat us in the cup in the mid 70s when we were a lower mid table top flight team and they were a middling third tier team. I wasn't born until 1978 and my first recollection of NUFC matches is from around 1983 so I'm 40 and can never remember us having to play against Walsall before, nor Wycombe Wanderers for that matter who they also failed to beat last week. I'm depressed following Newcastle but it must be utterly shite being a Mackem! 25th January (ha my dad's birthday) 1975, they beat us 1-0.

They like their lists of how they’re better than us, things like, ‘first to win 6 derbies in a row, only club to qualify for Europe by winning a trophy’ (why is that a thing? ). They can add a few more. - First to have to close full sections off for league games. - First to play a Championship team’s U21s in a competitive fixture with their first team squad. - First to enter the FA Cup while the Metropolitan Police were still in the competition. You forgot the most important one - First to play in the third division They’d already done that. So they were first twice
  18. Got a feeling this is the game where we have a man advantage for some of it and hold on for 0-0.

    The Magpie Group

Fair play to the 20 who bothered going. It was always going to be the case that this would lose momentum once we got a few wins. The worst part about it was that Keith Bishop was right.. It didn't lose momentum because of wins. It lost it because they wanted people to travel to London and there was no match. Had we been playing in London on that day there'd be more there. I still think in ground protests will get more attention, that includes the boycott as it will have an affect Inside the ground.

Best centre half I've seen play for us.

    Kevin Keegan

Can't see why, famous ex player and manager and the banner says nothing bad about club or ownership.
