A thread in which to converse about the other 19 clubs in the division with us.

How the fuck has it come to this
-
No just in general. I wonder if we are seen in the game as a good place to develop.
-
Need to develop them first. Are we showing any signs of that ?
-
Wasn't there a story that we met with his parents before he went to Madrid ?
-
It's using the broadest stats though to try and come over scientific. Aerials won ? Does that mean clean headers away ? Ones where he's won the header but it dropped straight to a forward ? Is an aerial duel a draw if the defender is 2nd favourite but does enough stop the forward getting a clean header ? Andy Carrolls stats at Liverpool for winning headers outside the box must've been great but he had no idea where they were going and mostly benefited the defending team. Passing accuracy etc over what distance, what phase of play, teams with different styles of play will produce CBs for example who will produce differing stats even if the CBs had exactly the same skill sets. Add to this the pro analysts ete test will consist of hundreds of gour of footage from more angles than we have access to. The one stat I do like, particularly for defenders (and I've forgot the name given to it) is that of the amount of opposition players taken out the game by a pass. I think in time Lewis Hall (who I'm still wary of defensivly) will absolutely kill that stat.

That's the reason I'm looking at my phone.

My point is there is more than "heading ability". My guess is the other teams not in for him either don't need or have other priorities. I'm not saying your point is invalid just that there's more context to stats than a cold reading and why teams if analysts are employed on a full time basis. More so it's a posting style thing, people read and get "I'm right, this isn't opinion, it's fact"
-
Yeah but I'm going to work later.
-
Makes you wonder why we are going for him then if someone working outside the game can easily see, probably without the depth of data they have access to, that the player isn't all that.
-
I think we're more of a "fantastic player who didn't have a good tournament so we'll get some value there" type club.
-
Chelsea always need everything.

With the mystery Right winger wearing a mask so no-one knows who it is until he comes on the pitch V Southampton. Proper Roy of the Rovers style

I'm still not used to us being seriously in for players like this. Fingers crossed it cones off.

My post was about last season and it seems like he was rotating until the injuries and suspension kicked in. He brought Murphy in for Miggy in Milan (so the front three had all been rotated) then Tonali got suspended, Willock was injured so Midfield was harder to rotate. The one where people have a point is there were opportunities to rest Trippier when he started looking tired but maybe he wanted him in there because we were so short and needed the leadership and structure he gives.
-
More people demand a team that wins than a one that tries.
-
Is that based on rotation of Isak and Wilson last season, Barnes getting injured when he was rotatednin for Gordon, then losing Tonali and Willock in short order.
-
If you think this is the worst you haven't followed us long.

I know we'd have had to sell a purple ....but we didn't. Re having plans, plans are there (ie if a 150mill bid comes in for Isak) but they aren't plans really as you don't know if they're coming or not so they are only preparations for scenarios.. ..if we hadn't done "shady deals with Forest" then it may have been a purple....as it turns out it wasn't. We can't say if a purple had been sold what we'd have done with the cash, so as of now, I'm happier with those purples still here and Minteh and Anderson paying off our debts.
-
Eales said we would possibly have to trade, probably a purple......we didn't need to. I'd say the plan (which isn't really a plan, more a preparedness for differing circumstances) worked. It was always going to be tight given the situation we came from (little in the way of saleable assets we can survive without) but we gambled and got through with the purples intact.
-
Really ? Brunos clause didn't have to be activated, we could've sold him for 80mill before his deadline had we wanted. I don't think there was "a plan" in that way. They knew they had certain assets they could cash in if needs be and while it was tight given the choice of losing Bruno, Gordon or Isak for less than optimal, or Minteh and Anderson going for what they did.......it's an easy choice for me.
-
Probably about a dozen on TV. I also kepted check on Kuol when he played. I wouldn't have been too pleased if Minteh had belonged to someone else and we paid 35mill.
-
I thought you thought the plan was to sell Bruno ?
