shows why we should play the advantage rule like in rugby union.

i'd like to think in a few weeks we wont see him as a midfielder. He wasn't really one today imo. nor the last 15mins last week. to get the best out of him he shouldn't play midfield.

For the CL spots you do but for Europa League, we were living proof that you don't need to spend vast sums. You do, however, need to kee investing to keep on top. Try telling Mike that though... slightly contradictory that mind, we can get into the europa doing it our way, but we need to invest more to stay there ? And the following season without spending in the summer...? Any club well ran with decent players can achieve a hig league position, be it the Europa or even CL as Wullie points out with Arsenal, but to stay there you generally have to keep investing money because over your shoulder is another club wanting to be where you are and they will more often than not throw money at it. many were saying we had a squad good enough but the management wasn't up to it.

while I agree we should be spending more, the "20th largest income in the world" argument is silly. looking at a high turnover is pointless if you don't take notice that the outgoings are similar. same as when people confuse turnover with "richest".

yeah but in their usual way of claiming their team was right and blame pardew for not training them right/telling them punt it in the air instead of passing to an open team mate/players deliberately playing shite because ashley pays them to be crap etc etc etc.

not really, it's aone off game. a bit like saying buying shearer was a mistake becasue everton beat us 2-0 in his first game. things have to be given time and I'd still be fairly sure that would be the way forward even if it didn't work in that one game. if it had been given half a dozen games and looked like it was going nowhere then I'd think again.

The worst manager that we've had. Get a grip. That's not even what I said. I said that he's the best player under the worst manager. Neither one, nor the other. Although Pardew takes some beating for being the worst in my lifetime, that's still between him, Dalglish and Souness. allardyce ?

i've been on and proven them wrong re sir bob many times before and to be honest most admit he was black and white, however there is a hardcore that will let it die for a bit, then raise it again when they think no one will say anything. for anyone questioning it, listen to him on desert island discs on i player.

the caulkin piece is not actually the slating piece I was expecting.

You are wonderful. I love you O proper fan. Think on though if REAL proper fans hadn't boycotted stopped away from the games in the late 80's and early nineties and caused the organisation of things like the Magpie group which led to ousting the likes of skinflint McKeag and his cronies from the club and resulted in SJH taking over at the club, then, proper fans like yourself would never have had the Keegan's entertainers years to enjoy etc etc. Carry on puckering your rustybullethole and giving your money to "Mike" if it makes you happy. Just don't bother crying when he sh*ts on you ... again! Yeah, the failed share offer (with the cash injection it would have delevered, to counterbalance dwindling gate revenue) was the tipping point which forced SJH to make his final move/get McKeag and his cronies out. The club was heading for the shitter if wasn't for the offensive actions of supporters who were prepared to & ultimately did turn their back for a greater good - by first voting with their feet by boycotting games enmasse & the failed share offer was the most powerful 'no confidence' motion available at the time. Alot is owed to the actions of what Nut believes to be the antithesis behaviour of proper fans. thats not quite how I remember it. there was a boycott for the leeds game (didn't affect the gate much).

Couldn't disagree more. One of the few countries who'd take a lot of fans plus any chance of a repeat of a Maracanazo is always good in my book. Not too mention the players. At a World Cup I want to see the worlds best/most entertaining etc. and for that reason Uruguay are must with their strikeforce and genius manager. i want shocks, the come from nowhere teams, wanting the worlds best brings seeding and a perpetuation. also the world cup has already started, let the shocks happen now.

now that you mention it.

got tickets for my mam and one of her mates, stawberry cornerish. so, word of warning, if you are sat next to two 70ish year old women, don't slag off james milner or peter beardsley or she'll claw your freeking eyes out.

france tonight were so like us last season, very rigid, no movement and lacking in ideas.
-
took france at half time (france v belarus under 1.5 on tuesday has to be on) and switzerland after going a goal down. fluked portugal to win at 1-1 as I wouldn't have bet on that had I knew they were down to 10. down on the night still.
