for all we could improve in every position (as could all clubs really) i'd be happy with no outgoings, a remy/aubameyang type, for the starting line up, after that it's squad stuff.

How does that square with him gambling then ?. Why can't he gamble with his own money? He's not set a roulette wheel up on Percy Street for f***s sake. Against his religion, so he can cherry pick then ?. So if we were sponsored by a betting company who prey on people with addiction, what would he do then ?. You can't have it both ways, you back him up yet overlook obvious contradictions. Fair enough for f***s sake. There is such a thing as a moderate Muslim, yer kna? Indeed there are, that's the five or so who have no problem playing in the shirt. bee cha !

it was rhetorical if that was aimed at me. Nope. I aim my farts in your general direction, but nothing more. i'd been blaming the dog.

apparently carragher is a "souness". no matter how much you dilsike him he's a cracking bloke in person and wins everyone over, apparently, i've never met either but was told about carragher off some mancs.

does it matter if the services are directly advertised to the public ? you'd be ok with union carbide being our sponsor then, vodafone, etc ? all morally objectionable. if you want to stertch it that way, pay day lending and loan sharking are different things.

just seems a lame thing to take a stand on given he's been ok with it in the past. I think we need to realise that Wonga are a lot worse than Virgin Money. and barclays ? Obviously big banks have done more widespread damage than Wonga ever could, but you know that people's moral systems don't always work like that. I mean, we were raging about Wonga but I can't remember many posts saying we shouldn't be in a league sponsored by Barclays. Anyway, you could argue that he's not endorsing Barclays by playing in the PL... it's a much more indirect link. I just don't see any evidence from the guy and how he's been that suggest he would be making this up to force an exit. i did, i brought it up straight away. i just think people only see the problem because of the position we were in. had we been top 3 and recently broke the world transfer record with the money bot all would have been said. as for endorsing barclays, all he's doing is wearing a badge on the top he gets paid for wearing, just like the wonga one.
-
they are upfront, barclays wear a mask and have more effect that has repurcussions for everyone, ALL OF US, not just those who bank with them.

More sympathetic maybe but with the same end result. He'd still be in a no win situation where he would end up leaving. He won't wear the sponsor (which is in all players contracts that they have to wear it) so he leaves. The 'Charity' or 'No Sponsor' idea is a total none starter for all the reasons given in The Mag article on the previous page. or a win win depending on what he wants.

or wasn't deemed as better than benteke for the way villa play. like saying micky quinn wasn't good nough for us when he left.
-
Can Gouffran not play on the left? was supposed to at times last season and never seemed to get into the box. getting someone else in there was last seasons biggest failing for me. it's why we need an aubameyang/remy type. still possible i suppose as it sometimes takes a while to settle into a new style like the prem.
-
lucky i'm old, thats the way it was always done (and should be imo).
-
people would say "barclays have done far worse, are you saying you have to leave the premier league ?"
-
would the fans have been so quick to back him had he been a reserve we were looking to offload ?
-
uefa/players unions have to step in to sort out this sort of crap. players have to realise it cuts both ways, they'll still get paid till the end of their contracts if they fall short and turn out to be crap, in return for that they should honour their side.
-
embarassingly he's a player i've rarely seen and know next to fuck all about (apart from what i've read) even though he's one of the currently most famous in the game.
-
i've said for a bit i'd see him as a replacement for cisse (or rather if he came then cisse would be sold). originally i thought it would be because of a semi-carroll type bid but maybe this wonga thing has been rumbling on for a bit longer ?
-
thing is the cliche used about strikers is that the best take their chances when they come along, last season he didn't. (crikey, reading at home in particular which seemed like a turning point we could/should have been at least 3, hat trick for cisse, by half time)
-
I think he's using it to leave, did he look happy last season to you? that wouldn't really matter, only a better offer usually makes players get itchy feet.
-
nobody denies his ability to score goals, it's if feeding him is to the benefit of the team overall.
-
thats exactly what I've been saying. only tiote was not known to many. cisse,ba, cabaye, mapou, debuchy, sissoko, santon (missed out haidara as I'm just thinking of those expected to go into the starting 11) were all reasonably well known to most.
