  1. I think it's quite a smart tactic to use on a set piece because the keeper has got to make sure he holds the ball because Nolan is on top of them within a second or two of the save being made. He did it quite a bit last year and it worked on a couple of occasions. He was sliding about on his arse far too much for me today. I'm all for getting stuck in but he seemed to have been taking lessons of Smudger. I know he does it a lot, but it was the hiding behind the defender, and 'peeking' out from between the legs and arms that made me go 'oh dear'. Also his 'dive' in the area later on, where he looked up towards the Gallowgate with a cheeky grin, before staying on the ground for 2mins with the game happening just behind him. God forbid the tried and tested tactic upsets you I'm not complaining that he does what he does in blocking the keeper's view and sweeping up any fumbles, its more the acting a fool during a game part. Ho'way man. I just think it's an extremely trivial thing to get worked up about. He's done it before, he'll do it again, the only difference this time was he was indulging in a bit of a needle with one of the lads in the wall and had a smile on his face. It's a friendly, man

  4. He does that in competitive games to good effect. I wouldn't call it playing up to the crowd although Nolan was off the pace. I don't want to over analyse it because it was just a friendly and we were missing a few key players but Perch was shit, Smith hasn't improved in the midfield role at all and Shola was Shola. Raylor, goal aside, was awful too. In the second half we were much better but far from perfect and on the balance of play were probably fortunate to come away with a draw.
  5. He's a Premier League quality centre half. There's a dearth of them at the club. Good move.
  6. Just switched it off, fucking robbie williams , rather swim in my own sick Same here
  7. What about europe then...... f*** Shearer, what about Shola? Shola - 19 Sunderland - 5 You must be shitting me. Shola Ameobi has 19 European goals? Course he does, he scored a few in the Champions League and many more in the UEFA Cup.
  8. What about europe then...... Fuck Shearer, what about Shola?
  9. I'm not going to mention it in case I tempt fate and he fucking joins.
  10. Has anyone else heard the Kenny Miller rumours?
  11. It's clearly not just a shirt because of the people who have worn it. Okay, a lot of shite has been handed it over the years but when you look at the class of some of the names who have pulled it on you'd have a pretty tough time arguing that it has no gravitas. I do think it gets over played by the media mind. I don't know many of our fans who treat it in the same way Sky Sports do for example.
  12. Until he starts talking about himself in the third person and coming out with quotes like, "Well, Glenn Roeder never likes to talk about anyone elses players but if you saw Glenn Roeder at their stadium watching a game which this player was part of then Glenn Roeder may or may not have been there to watch them" he's not Glenn Roeder.
  13. I'm pretty sure the transfer window was invented just to keep Jim White on SSN.
  14. I dont really think such a thing was ever set in stone. Loven, Williamson & Routledge are some recent players to join & I dont class them as younger players. Routledge had just turned 25, in fairness. Still 25. Tbh I would not class a 24 year old as young player either. No chance of the fuzz nabbing you on a statutory rape charge.
  15. Taylor said he's leaving it in the hands of his agent because he wants to get on with playing.
  16. It's a wind up, man. TalkSport are always at it.
  17. That doesn't really tell the whole story. He was prone to flashes of brilliance and bursts of form but those were eclipsed by barren runs where you'd put your money on him missing if he was standing on the with the ball on his toe facing the goal.
  18. We're not talking about playing badly and winning more often than not though are we. We're talking about setting out not to take the game to the opposition but to to stifle their attacking threat nearly all the time, mostly failing in that task and losing, but getting enough 0-0 and 1-1 draws, and 8 or 9 scrappy 1-0 victories mostly against other bottom of the table sides which we "deserved to lose", with only the prospect of more of the same the following season if we do manage to stay up to look forward to. That's the reality of a "I'd be happy to finish 17th playing poorly" "consolidation" season. Are you really prepared for it? Have you read the title of the thread?
  19. im the same... i bought it online today... i never normally buy newcastle shirts, i ask me mam to buy me the home top every couple of years (being her first son she usually does buy it and drop it round my house)... i feel slightly ripped off now..... like ive just wasted 35 quid. totally forgot about the toonarmy bit.... fuck. thats my biggest hate going... sky sports presenters / reporters saying 'the toon army supporters'... arrrggghhhh.... hot iron and it might peel off? you try it first and report back with results I hope you burn your house down. It's a joke mods.
  20. I remember there being a load of empty seats when we got relegated, which is what you're effectively advocating with your "rather lose in style" bollocks. Can't remember there being a comparable drop off when we've played poor football in the top division.
  21. I don't care how we play as long as we win and quite frankly I think this discussion is ridiculous as no fan supporting a team in our current position should. You also seem to think that dull football equals a constant struggle against relegation which is bollocks.
  22. How is hypothetically maximising our chances of getting relegated again going to help that?
  23. Aye, I bet he loves it when I wave a banner around calling him a rapist
