  1. hope poch brings back chris houghton as asst manager.
  2. Have you been declared bankrupt. Have you been convicted of a crime. That is all.
  3. His post could have been made in any thread regardless of context. Had nowt to do with the purchase. The regimes are only comparable because someone has to be the worst at any given moment. Like saying NUFC are the north east team closest to Liverpool in quality. Okay, sure. But we're still fucking light years behind, it's just a technically true statement that's unproductive.
  4. The Saudis bomb civilians and execute journalists man, it's not that ridiculous a comparison! uhhhhhhh
  5. Nevermind that we have no reputation to protect or try and fix, we're just dickheads forever and we don't care
  6. seeing lee getting his greasy pink tooshie spanked online is alternative porn
  7. You're 100% wrong here. Yeah? You think people who'd abstain if Murdoch took over because he's a worse cunt than Ashley would be taking significantly more or equal guff than people who are now abstaining over SA? Eat 100% of my colon's inventory.
  8. I mean, say it wasn't Saudi Arabia. (FWIW I've absolutely made peace with the deal and look forward to the future. ) Say it was Rupert Murdoch. Through a series of hilarious blunders by his aides and minders he ends up spending a fantastic Friday night in Bigg Market and wakes up the next morning on full horny for the city. Boom, buys the club. No one would be batting an eye at someone who found his ownership to be as odious or worse than Ashley's and took a pass at worst or distanced themselves significantly at best. Absolutely no one. Except'n if you're a cunt what's being contrarian for the sake of it. So why does a state-level actor get all the equivalency and whataboutism for inarguably worse transgressions?
  9. Saudi Arabia's stubborn, ponderous trek into human/civil rights modernity will be neither hastened nor delayed by this purchase. The good I can extract from it is MA out of the club and better fortunes on the field. Won't be chanting MBS's name or explaining the shahada on my saudi flag t-shirt.
  10. god just to be a seagull for one day so i could shart right on that shiny bald pate
  11. the server got tired of serving loki's food pics and self immolated
  12. And we're back. Well done everyone.
  13. Still fubar on me desktop in the states and through both cox and charter.
  14. It shouldn’t but sometimes it do
  15. Same. Tried a few vpns but nowt on desktop. Mobile 5G is fine.
  16. They've been part of Staveley's attempts since she started, Saudi Arabia hadn't, so think it's just that they didn't want to get cut out/Staveley didn't want to cut them out. Reubens have clear interest in the region, and could be Staveley wants in on that for instance, so a bit of a quid pro quo. Could be anything, absolutely nothing I would worry about in the way you suggest. What did I suggest? People reading some strange shit into what I write lately Their involvement seemed unnecessary is all but your explanation and mojo's make sense.
  17. Was it discussed/explained why the Reuben brothers were needed to go in on this when the Saudis have more money than god?
  18. This is the most watched sports league in the world. Their reach will be a bit further than match going fans. Maybe a while down the line their reputation within the game leads to a world cup in Saudi Arabia. The question wasn't really about reach. I'm still questioning how the purchase of a club changes national perceptions. You're going from "lots of people will know they own the club" to "people will soften their stance on saudi arabia" without showing the work. Also, why do that to get a world cup when Qatar got one through corruption and bribery at likely a far cheaper price than a club?
  19. I don't understand how image cleaning works with a purchase like this given that 99% of match going fans aren't in the kind of social/power spheres to really apply change to UK policy towards Saudi Arabia "Say what you will about the murderous regime that owns 80% of the club but they do put on a good halftime show. Let's talk about easing sanctions like." I'm oversimplifying not to paint that as anyone's actual argument but to say that's just how I see it in my head and it seems ridiculous.
  20. people thinking saudi ownership is a low point appear not to have considered the fact the takover has given Lee Ryder's professional career a new purchase on life when surely the doldrums of suspended football had it on its last legs
  21. This is absolutely moronic and damn right thick. Not in the slightest, if MA could get away with the things the Saudi's have done to advance himself and his businesses, I have zero doubt he wouldn't think twice. yeah but in terms of non-hypotheticals there's a demonstrable, incontrovertible difference between a shady national businessman with bad jeans has done and what someone wielding the full economic and military force of one of the richest countries on earth has done
