  1. I love nothing more than a good old Man United bashing but why wouldn't they be competing with Tottenham and Arsenal this season? They are probably well ahead of Spurs in 2019 calendar year league table too despite Ole being the worst manager in the league by a fucking mile.
  2. Mate, you have Ritchie as a RB on a back four.
  3. Seeing Wijnaldum or Sissoko ahead of Tiote hurts.
  4. Only reason he has the job is because he played for them which is just ridiculous for a club like Man United.
  5. Aguero 9 goals, 2 assists. KDB 2 goals, 9 assists. What would it be like if they turned up?
  6. This is just stupid, where do you draw the line? 5cm, 10cm or 30cm? Then we would be back arguing about the same thing again. No, it is definitely not stupid. It is by far the most sensible way to use VAR for offside decisions seeing that VAR objectively cannot make accurate judgements due to limitations in frame rates. There 100% has to be a "referee's call" margin for error applied just like they do in cricket with LBWs and Hawkeye. That frame rate thing has been debunked and it was completely made up by Daily Mail. Games are broadcast at 50 frames per second but the cameras VAR use go up to 300 frames per second IIRC. I can't find evidence of the debunking. First reply.
  7. Nah, I don't think that is all too necessary. But the actual justification for the decision should be explained clearly to the fans in the stadium and fans watching on TV by the referee who is overseeing the implementation of VAR. It would make things so much clearer to all. It's pretty obvious by now that for some reason the VAR team can't or doesn't want to change the referee's decision. Fouls and red cards are subjective, why isn't the head ref on the field making these decisions with the help of video evidence?

One way to make it instantly better is if VAR isn't making the subjective decisions but is telling the ref to go watch the screen if they see something dubious. The lost time argument is just stupid when VAR team looking at it and probably arguing between themselves takes just as much time. On top of that, there's absolutely no logic to the decisions that have been made lately. When the head ref makes the subjective decisions based on video evidence, there should be at least some consistency.
  10. I don't really understand HTT's point. Both are good to very good passers based on limited showing and both have a great shot. Extremely small sample size so at least I wouldn't be able to have an opinion on flair, drive and instinct so far. They won't be massive dribblers but I don't think anyone expects that and at least Sean has been really good with the ball (at least last season) in very tight spots.
  11. This is a bold take. I've been happy with their attacking/creating play in any case, both can play a killer pass.
  12. VAR decided to give ManU a penalty for absolutely nothing.
  13. It’s the sort of tackle you make where you don’t want to hurt yourself. Easy to use going for the ball as an excuse. It's not like, completely accidental.
  14. I'm not watching Sky but made an assumption. :dontknow
  15. Are we doubting this guy just because of the Sky commentary? There have been tons of terrible VAR decisions just this week.
  16. It's shambles, English referees are not better than everyone else but for some reason they get this special treatment.
  17. This is the biggest problem with VAR in the Premier League. All penalty decisions are subjective and the ref who made the original decision should watch the screen. Right now it respects the original decision too much and seems like the VAR team can't overturn decisions just by talking to the ref. Can't the ref just look at the replay on his phone or something. Doesn't even need to go off to the side I don’t see why it matters that it’s a different official. For some reason it absolutely does matter.

  19. Hockey goalies are pretty tall now, average height on NHL is close to 190cm IIRC.
