Commentating, not commenting. Big difference which maybe I didn't make clear enough. My point was specifically about the main commentary gig where I think tone of voice plays a part and many people are more likely to have a preference for one sex over the other.
-
I certainly agree with this FWIW, and I don't agree with the initial point in bold, for clarity. Nobody's mentioned Kelly Cates who I think has been the best football anchor on British television for years.
-
Since you've accused me of being "snide", do you prefer watching men's or women's football? Venkman claims he has no preference whatsoever, would need therapy if he did, and that my assuming that people on this Newcastle United forum have a preference for one over the other is "bizarre". I certainly think this thread has gone bizarre.

Sorry not sure what you mean here exactly, probably my fault. My point was that you took issue with @St. Maximin for saying that there was "nothing misogynistic about preferring male commentators to female ones" but I think you (and I, and everyone else on this forum) have a preference for watching male footballers over female ones. Why is it misogynist to prefer watching/hearing a male commentator but not a male footballer? My disbelief was your claim that you don't prefer watching men playing football.
-
Fair enough. I'll leave it up to everyone else to make their mind up who actually believes that.
-
Do you have a preference for men playing football or women playing football, or no preference?
-
Sorry like, I'm going to start issuing bans for anyone praising Karen Carney, Jesus Christ. Still makes me laugh thinking of when John Murray said to her on 5Live that Arsenal had recovered well because "things had looked ominous" when they'd conceded early to Man City and she said "Ooh I don't know John, I don't know what ominous means"

You should be able to see it by now. If you click the Newcastle Online banner at the top, what does it take you to?

When you say "answer a bit smarter", what you mean is that instead of offering his incredibly milquetoast opinion that women's international football and men's international football isn't particularly analogous, he should instead answer like a politician and essentially ignore the question in case someone goes on the internet and tells the teacher on him, even though several hundred people in Bristol have paid £40 a ticket to hear his genuine thoughts on a range of things.

I suspect he was asked a question about it, such is the nature of these events.

I believe so but one for the nerds @Rich

Yeah I thought that when I saw our xG was exactly 1.00. Between Burn, Almiron, Isak (before the Almiron goal) and Longstaff that just seems bizarre to me.
-
Probably one of the biggest disconnects I've ever seen between possession and performance. We controlled that game from start to finish despite having the ball for little over a quarter of it.
-
I don't know who's more surprised every time I see him performing in the Champions League, me or Jacob Murphy. Must feel like he's won the lottery on a weekly basis.
-
We should have seen the writing on the wall and got rid after the Brighton game.
-
Why do you keep saying the wrong decision was made? That's not what happened. The correct decision was made but wrongly communicated to the referee. That is not the same thing.
-
It's not Michael Oliver btw, it's some guy from PGMOL called Oli Kohout.
-
Oh I realise that but the laws of the game also say that if a goal is onside, it should stand. England had the choice in that moment to choose which was more important, Liverpool's goal or Spurs' defensive free kick. Is anyone really going to criticise or discipline him for stopping the game and giving the goal in that situation? He's in enough trouble for not giving it so he might as well have done it.
-
The initial mistake is one anyone could make. The real fuck up is Darren England's bizarre refusal to right it on the basis of "oh no, Spurs have taken a few kick and 5 seconds has elapsed, we can't possibly go back now"
-
I give him a week.
-
Wonder if we might hear the audio tonight on MNF.
-
Saka hasn't trained at all this week and after tomorrow they've got Man City home and Chelsea away. I think there's still a decent chance he'll play tomorrow but he's definitely the one I'd lose of the four if I had to.
-
Think I've talked myself into wildcarding this week.

Poor Callum only got one there as well.
