  1. Speculation based on nowt. Please don't compare Allardyce to Fergie and Wenger, it doesn't help your point. His signings as a whole have been a disaster. Point I'm making is that, every Manager gets some of his signings wrong and I certainly wouldn't be presumptuous saying Sam is better than those two. If he'd had more money, he'd have gone for more turgid dross. Creativity and pace are dirty words in the Allardyce household it seems.

  3. Great reply Wullie, good to see you countered my post with solid debate. Jesus wept. How can you offer solid debate to the idea of a point at Villa Park, given his shambolic away record up to then? So what, one point difference? We still would have strengthened in the window, and be about 7 points up on where we are, putting us about 12th. When he was sacked I laughed, when Keegan appointed I cried. We missed the boat here lads. Why would the board give money to a manager they didnt want ? Since Allardyce was sacked hes came out and said he didnt get as much money as he wanted so on so on. I cant believe so many people voted no here, the man took apart an average team and made it shambolic, and if he was still here it would have continued to be shambolic. Arsenal would have put more past us, bolton at home would have been suicidal instead of mind numbingly boring. we wouldnt have even threatened blackburn For the simple fact he wasn't their appointment, which was bit stupid, either they should have backed him in the beginning or sacked him there and then. They did back him. Not as much as they should have done. Aye, I wish we'd had another couple of Alan Smiths for £6m apiece.

  5. I think luring players in the summer will be the least of our problems.
  6. Ginola? Albert? They said that did they? "I've heard of Kevin Keegan so I signed?" Maybe we should get Madonna in as manager.
  7. What type of player signs for a club just because they'd heard of the manager?
  8. They're in nearly as much relegation bother as us tbh.

    Today's other games

I enjoyed him moaning about the injury time. If they hadn't had 9 added minutes against Wednesday in 1993, who knows what would have happened over the next 15 years.
  10. Most of the points gained by Allardyce were gotten by players who Keegan hasn't had available to him, particularly the wins. We'd never have beaten West Ham without Viduka or Everton without Emre. Or Spurs without Martins for that matter and KK has to start picking him or he's signing his own death warrant.
  11. We're on MOTD now. Watch Butt run away from the header for the second goal.
  12. Shak, if you think you're having your honeymoon night on my sofa, you can think a-fucking-gain, sunshine.
  13. I remember some of the easy games we had, notably against the mackems and Reading, where if the opposition could finish, it could easily have been three or four.
  14. Finally, someone without their head up Keegans arse! Form the outside its different, my housemates all feel similar to the above (arsenal, Blackbuurn and Tramemre fans). And they don't watch us, so what has they think got to do with anything? I've been at every home game, I was at Wigan and Fulham. I know exactly how s*** we were under Allardyce. Don't really give a toss what casual outsiders think (no offence intended, 1878, or indeed you, SpinS. I'm not trying to play the soopafan card or anything.) I agree, SA football was shit, but we were more solid and probably wouldn't be in this mess. Casual outsider I may be, but a bit of realism sometimes hurts. We were not more solid, sorry. We just hadn't played that calibre of team as much. Didn't mean you as the casual outsider btw.

  16. I don't see how he is. Isn't everyone just saying that Keegan isn't an improvement? Doesn't mean Allardyce was good enough though does it. People are saying we'd have conceded less. I really don't feel like our defence is any worse, just that we're playing teams who won't sneak a win due to poor defending, they will annihilate you.
  17. It was still Allardyce's players and Allardyce's system that got a hiding at Old Trafford. Pompey put four past us and only an off day for Torres stopped the home game with Liverpool from being a cricket score. Allardyce is getting away with murder thanks to the fixture list.

  19. Great reply Wullie, good to see you countered my post with solid debate. Jesus wept. How can you offer solid debate to the idea of a point at Villa Park, given his shambolic away record up to then? The man took us to Pride Park and we didn't have a shot.
  20. The problem here was the timing of SA sacking, which wasn't really needed until the summer, but lets forget all that.. Wasn't it? You reckon Allardyce would have done better than KK has with these players? I don't think he'd be doing any worse (technically not really possible). I think he'd have beaten Bolton though. On the run of form he was on? Couldn't beat Derby ffs. Changing the manager hasn't really helped though has it? The whole change process is complex, getting people onside, new methods of doing things, if anything it caused more disruption and more negative impact on our results. Sure SA football was dire, but I would have had confidence in him leading us to ~12th, and being replaced in the summer. I never said it had helped, but the run of results we've had makes Allardyce look better than he was and Keegan worse than he is. Bet Keegan wouldn't have gift wrapped 40% of Derby's points.
