    Midweek Games

Not a Barry assist by any chance? Fuck's sake, why wasn't Young picked for England? Absolute class.
  2. Was looking at this earlier, I knew it would be Shearer but I don't agree. Noticed the "25 best ever", There's no fucking way in the world Figo was better than Maradona like.

    Midweek Games

    Fucking get in. Double points.
  4. Have the Premiership introduced some sort of award for using the highest amount of different back fours in a season or something? If he drops Enrique, well, time is ticking Sam. You cannot keep fucking about like this and hope to get away with it, not at NUFC.
  5. Fair comment from Mort imo. Allardyce has to earn backing right now, because he's brought a lot of his own players in and they're not doing it. We're not asking for miracles, just not the disgraceful performances of the last month and Mort is right, get them playing as a unit and we'll climb the table because we do have good players. No point giving him loadsa money in the current situation, because it's not the ability of the players that is the problem at the moment.
  6. The reason N'Zogbia was having fuck all luck, apart from the fact that he did just generally have a shit game, was that there was two men on him every single time and no opportunity to switch the play because there was absolutely no-one on the other flank. Liverpool therefore could easily afford to double up on our left with no danger of being caught out with a switch of the play. Regardless of how he'd been playing, we should have gone to two wingers on the correct sides and tried to stretch them.
  7. We have to keep him until the end of the season, difficult as that seems to comprehend right now. I reserve the right to scrap this opinion before New Year.
  8. Howay lads, keep the faith. We've beat them last two seasons under Souness and Roeder ffs! Who am I kidding, they'll roll us over without breaking sweat.
  9. Chris Bascombe writes for the News of the World now? Jesus, I bet that didn't go down very well with the "Justice" brigade. I'm not quite in the "Sam Out" camp, despite my grave concerns over what he's doing at the moment, mainly because I think it would be self-defeating and do us no good, but if Benitez became available then maybe we'd have something to think about. Mind, with his daft rotation policy and oft frustrating league selections, he might find the NUFC impatience bug bite him on the arse too. What a mess.

    Jose Enrique

Crap today, particularly second half when (not just his) head went down, but apart from Given and Beye, so were they all. If anyone thinks he's playing long ball because that's his game, then you're an idiot. He's playing it long because he's being told to, not to mention the fact that there's no fucker to pass to. I'm totally confident that he'll be a good player for us, circumstances permitting (circumstances being the manager sorting his fucking self out). Jose Enrique is the very least of our worries.

    Owen Recovery

England's Michael Owen who missed England's biggest game in months? Rather blows that idea about him smashing his own knees with a sledgehammer before Newcastle games out the water doesn't it?
  12. N'Zogbia better be on the left of midfield with Jose behind him or we are going to get F'd in the A.
  13. .cock don't say anything about Viduka being out. If Smith is picked on the right, well, on Allardyce's head be it.
  14. If Smith starts up front, midfield or in goal, it'll be a shocking decision. Most of the positions pick themselves imo, the only decision to make (apart from in goal actually) is two of three in central midfield, and Alan Smith should not even be one of the three.
  15. That article by Samuel is excellent btw.
  16. While I'm certainly not making excuses for tonight's debacle, Alan Green made a great point on 606. The FA knew a very long time ago that tonight was the date for England vs Croatia which could, and did, decide whether or not we go to Euro 2008. So who the fuck sanctioned a game of American Football on that pitch less than a month ago and subsequently turned it into a mud-bath? Did they expect we would already have qualified by this point, forgetting that they had appointed a man with no brain? Or are they just as dense as the ginger joker and were looking at last year's calendar or something?

    Bothered?

Am I allowed to say I'm gutted that a team I support has gone out of a major tournament or will I have my soopafan badge revoked? Why some people wear it as a badge of honour is beyond me.

    Steve McClaren

It's not in the least surprising but it is genuinely frightening. Football management seems to be one of the only careers where you do better from failure than success.
  19. As I said above, how can he be expected to be in any form when he's not getting his game in blue? Fair enough if he was genuinely the best left back in England and behind a foreigner at Chelsea, maybe you have to try and get him in, but he's behind the genuine best LB in England who was on the fucking bench! It would be funny if it wasn't so bloody tragic.
  20. And another thing: why the fuck did we sit back after equalising??? Home advantage, back from the dead, we should have been on cloud nine and fucking annihilated them. No, let's stop playing, go for a draw AGAIN with a back four that's been all over the place for 70 minutes and with Paul Robinson's shit cousin in goal.

    Steve McClaren

Neither of them were particularly good England managers. Sven could have gone the same way if Beckham hadn't come up with the goods in the 93rd minute against Greece.
  22. Not just Gerrard and Lampard, but the entire WC 2006 midfield with them and Cole and Beckham. Genius! There was one Aston Villa player tonight who should have been one of the first names on the team sheet (not Scott Carson). Joe Cole's like that Mr Woo, all style and no fucking substance. Hasn't done it for Chelsea for about two years but still gets picked for England as soon as he can fucking walk. Same for Wayne Bridge, he doesn't get a game at Chelsea either yet he's playing today? How can he be expected to be in any sort of form, especially when he's being picked ahead of the player who is ahead of him in the Chelsea pecking order!? Disgusting.
  23. Scott Carson conceded a similar goal in June in the U-21 European Championships against Italy which cost us the match, his positioning on long rangers is all over the place. For him to be picked tonight in a game of this magnitude is criminal and McClaren wants shooting between the eyes, not just for that but for the rest of the team selection as well.
