Giving this man money to spend will be the biggest mistake we ever make.

Would love to be able to avoid all other results and see MOTD but it's a bit difficult at the game. Fingers in my ears at half time for a start.
-
Blackpool have still got every chance tbf if they can keep the score down. They only need to better Birmingham's score and hope Wigan get nowt.

Van der Sar ©, Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Fletcher, Scholes, Anderson, Nani, Park, Berbatov Ouch. That's considerably stronger than I expected. Damn.

it also says he's based in continental europe. it'll be some african playing in france or holland whom no-one has heard of then many profess to have watched for years (but really will be going off FM,youtube and whatever else can be gleened off the net in 10mins)

I disagree, like every footballer who gets caught out there would have been a bit of chanting at matches etc, and he would have been called a bit of a c***, but ultimately no-one would realy be that bothered. He would have been off the front pages/tele after a day or two and it would have just been 'another footballer shaggin about'. He looks an absolute pleb now though, and it's been dragged out right to the Champions League final. Except Ferguson made a series of comments earlier in the season about how Rooney's form had been decimated because he couldn't handle the press intrusion. He's done everything he can to stop that happening again and fair play to him. I didn't realise you we're one speaking terms with Fergie like, fair play Seriously though, it may have started as such, but the last couple of days have just been stupid. Theres no way trying to sue twitter was a good move. I don't need to be on speaking terms with anyone, it's absolutely f***ing obvious man. So Fergie, whilst swigging a bottle of whisky, called CTB into his office and advised him to sue Twitter? I'm pretty sure most of this has been instigated by his lawyer tbf. Any legal wrangling will take time, and the more time wasted the better.
-
It's not the week it had been done though when he should have admited it, he should have done so when it became obvios (withought doubt) who CTB was. It's no longer rumours and gossip, and the pressure of all these legal battles cannot exactle be good, especialy now he's just a laughing stock. A laughing stock? He won the Premier League last week. Wish our players were laughing stocks like that. Like he'll give a shit man. He's actively mocking it, that's why he's still giving interviews like this today: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/football_focus/13487373.stm

I disagree, like every footballer who gets caught out there would have been a bit of chanting at matches etc, and he would have been called a bit of a cunt, but ultimately no-one would realy be that bothered. Now we're talking about a player who hated the press interest in his life in the early 90s, as opposed to someone who courts it a little bit anyway, like Rooney. He's done everything he can to stop that happening again and fair play to him. If this story had broken in the week it would have done, taking their eye off their ball for a second might have been enough to see them out of both competitions.

Can we win the Premier League minus the 'Big Six' next season?

I disagree with believing it's a closed shop and I certainly don't believe we should 'aim' for that. -
I don't know the ins and outs obviously but I know that legal stuff takes a lot of time and the more time wasted the better. I very much doubt public pressure will make the slightest bit of difference to the High Court. This story originally ran in the Sun on the 14th April. That was the same week of the CL QF and the FA Cup SF. Even if his manager thought he could put the story off for a week, there's no doubt in my mind he would have tried it with the power and money of that club at his disposal. I can't believe people seriously think this is just about protecting a footballer's identity. He will know that everybody who uses the internet already knows so his reputation is tarnished anyway but as long as it remains the elephant in the room that TV, radio, papers can't talk about, that is good news for his club. He probably hasn't even got a say in it, he'll have had a hairdryer for doing what Rooney did and jeopardising the club and had to agree to trying to soften the blow.
-
I couldn't agree less. This story will hit the papers sometime around the 1st or 2nd June, when the legal team mysteriously cave in.
-
He/they're not interested in internet freedoms man, they're interested in creating as much legal wrangling as possible in order to keep it out of the public eye and out of the reach of journalists until at least next Sunday so the club/players/fans can focus on what they need to be focusing on. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/sep/23/wayne-rooney-form-suffers-media-glare "He cannot move without the paparazzi on him" "The siege of the tabloids can wear anyone out" This whole saga has got Alex Ferguson written all over it. A billion Twitter users aren't as powerful as one headline on the front of the NOTW, even though they would like to think they are.
-
And none of them are allowed to ask him about it. And none of them are allowed to stand outside his house and follow him round and harass his family members, like they did with Wayne Rooney. The player won't be getting dropped because of the focus on him like Rooney did... what focus on what? There's nothing to focus on. The focus on his life and on his club in reality is non-existent. The fact that everybody knows is irrelevant because there is currently no platform for it to stand on. He/they don't care that everybody knows. Can press intrusion and spotlight affect performances? Absolutely. Does everybody knowing something but not being allowed to actually shout it out or print it or lather it all over the television? Not in the least. It's really very clever. Oh it'll all break eventually on the front of the News of the World and it'll be 1-0 to Twitter and all the sad cunts who've got nothing better to do with their time than read about someone else's personal life will think they've got one over on him. I almost hope he wins a Champions League medal so they might realise what a bunch of knobs they are.

No he didn't! As I said a few weeks ago, he only stayed because no one would take him. Fair enough, he was amazing and has been for about 20 months but that doesn't mean he wanted to stay, just no one would have him. If he wants to fuck off let him, ungrateful spic. Club doesn't revolve around a left back, man. Even if he is a class one. My vote goes to PVA. Prophet, I'd say it's more than barely anyone, and I think the number will grow in time, but all the same he's been a very big and positive part of this club for years - and could have been even more so - for me so I still think the point should be made to anyone who's started knocking that. It's a tradition thing, club loyalty and such - history shouldn't be rewritten. It's like sticking up for Hughton when people start rewriting history about his management, too - nothing to do with Ashley, just doing the right thing and putting in a word for a good servant to my club who's being denigrated. Enrique has had some of his BEST games for us since January, whereas a number say he's been a good bit worse ever since he had his head turned and clearly was less bothered about us. Others have started saying he only became particularly good last year in Division 2 in the first place. Bollocks, I say. We should have a "nail on the head" smiley coded :80:
-
He needs to have a read of this. Actually, looks like he's recently made the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect Completely missing the point. If it is who you all seem to think it is, it is an absolutely superb piece of judgement, probably made by a manager who specialises in that sort of thing, still hurting from the last time one of his players hit the front pages instead of the back. Be surprised if the club aren't paying the legal fees. Expect this story to break the week beginning the 30th June.

Making it worse for himself ffs the whole thing's an absolute stroke of genius.

I'm in favour of a Twitter ban on footballers, anything to lessen my exposure to the wretched thing. Re: Jonas - a) judging him solely on what you see as "end product" is ridiculously simplistic because of his ability to run with the ball and his work rate, at the moment he is an absolutely integral cog in our team, football's not a spreadsheet, played by numbers and b) his end product has really improved. He's getting more goals and has 5 assists this season - that's more than, for example, Arteta, Lampard, Berbatov, Lennon or Modric.
-
Only one interesting thing happened, when Bowyer hit the post, and I'd had to go for a piss and missed it because I'd had a skinful. Absolutely dreadful game.

Get in Clarkie lad.
