Love seeing Carroll play for Liverpool knowing what we got for him - can't wait to see that cash score the winner on Saturday at Stoke!
-
Not sure there's any punishment in football more pointless than the touchline ban. I respect him for what he's done though - I'd love to go in the papers and tell Martin Atkinson what a brainless dickhead I think he is.
-
No they wouldn't, if they'd got someone in who didn't work out for whatever reason they'd have sacked him and tried someone else. Just like Arsenal did until they got Wenger, just like Man U did until they got Ferguson, just like we did until we got Robson, just like every other club does. We certainly don't have a monopoly on poor managers, and it isn't the reason clubs go bankrupt. Btw, what's your source re it being pretty much inevitable that we go the way of Leeds and Portsmouth? Genuine question, obviously I have a vested interest and it seems to me that we're doing OK. He's being sarcastic.

My point is that Redknapp won't be selling any of his best players and nor should our manager be so saying it's a Spurs policy is a total lie. Yes in the past they've sold good players, that's why they were shite and that's why the managers who made those decisions were sacked.
-
Which players that he wanted to keep has Redknapp sold? Why is what a past manager did there relevant in any way? They sold their best players and all ended up sacked. Great. I can really see why we're aspiring to that model.

"ALAN PARDEW feels Joey Barton can fulfil all of his career aspirations at St James’ Park" Mustn't want to win anything then.

Because he's as much a no.9 player as Harper. How's that like? Because I'm a traditionalist. I think the no.9 should be worn by a proper centre forward. I wouldn't give Martins the no.9 just like I wouldn't have given it to Bellamy. I don't understand how he's not a proper centre forward? Because he's quick? He's nothing like Bellamy, Martins' game is all about goals, even if he's not brilliant at it.

Not to mention some of the rubbish that's worn the number 9 over the years (although admittedly not since squads were introduced). It's not been all Shearers and Milburns. I liked Martins anyway.
-
What was stupid about giving it to Martins?
-
Does anybody know when our game with Man Utd will be rescheduled for if they win this (and would a replay possibly disrupt our game too)?
-
Hope Gateshead batter the fucking twats in the second leg.

Hadn't a clue Dyer had gone back to Ipswich.

Nah, we played Portsmouth the day they won the World Cup. EDIT: your memory's better than mine. Pompey was the home game prior to that.
-
It is if you're not paying them.
-
I like the club peddling Carroll's injury as an excuse for taking the money and yet he's on the field long before the temporary bloke they got on the same day. Never heard anything so stupid as signing an injured loan player. It's practically an oxymoron. Cheap though.
-
Presumably it's a list of how much the entire squad cost instead of Redknapp's signings.

Not so much funny as pathetic, but yeah.

I'd be wanting our players to ask for the red card if one of them was chopped down when clean through.

It's also 2 defeats in 10 in the league. Stats mean nowt man, they can be shaped in whatever way anyone wants. Yes but he's a centre forward, he's there to win us games. Could understand using that side of the statistic if he was a centre half. Drawing every game over the course of a season will take you down, we need to win games man and we totally unable to do it at the moment. We've also scored 15 goals in those 10 games, 10 games that Carroll wouldn't even have played in if he's only just making the bench for Liverpool today. We didn't fail to win most of those games because of failure to score. We didn't win because of poor defensive mistakes (Sunderland, Spurs, Everton, Fulham at least). Are you only allowed to score one goal a game? No, but we threw away leads in three of those games. Er... yeah, we also missed a load of chances to kill the game off. Who else was going to put them away like? A one legged Andy Carroll? Eh? Forget it, we're not going to agree. You think we're as good without Carroll, I don't. Fair enough. Where did I say that? What point are you making then? I'm saying we're not as good without him and you're arguing with me! The point I'm making is that having him at the club would have made no difference as we're now into the second week in March and he's still not fit to start I know that. Other people are interpreting this as "we're alright without him after all!" We're not.
