  1. Neither did the early booking (which I thought was harsh). He was always likely to be quiet after that. Fair point. If he hadn't been booked I think he'd have tripped Diouf 35 yards or so out instead of pulling out of the tackle as he had to in the build up to their 2nd goal. Never! I enjoy stating the obvious Surely time for a username change after yesterday, by the way? Your lack of knee-jerkiness is most disappointing. Wullie gave me this burden in the hope it'd see Duff fuck off (like it did Woodgate, Parker & Bellamy) but so far it's been to no avail. Typical.
  2. Can't hurt to venture some qualified thoughts - you weren't over the moon, I take it. I was pretty happy with him, myself. Barely put a foot wrong but I'm feeling a little uneasy about the hype of our new players on very little evidence (other than Coloccini who I think is proven class), simply because when they underperform slightly or make one rick, that then gets pushed to the other extreme and they're shit/not adapting/not developing/whatever. So you're not saying he looks possibly good now so that you can take the moral high ground when someone starts saying he looks bad if/when he makes a mistake? That approach never bloody works, man, it won't be remembered - might as well just go with the flow No I just think making any judgement of a Premier League centre half against a poor Championship side is inevitably going to be flawed and people inevitably build themselves up for disappointment. He played very well tonight and that's as much as anyone can say. I think some of the stuff written about Jonas and Guthrie has been daft too. They've both looked quality but it's what they do season after season that matters and I think a lot of people will end up disappointed because early on, everyone judges a player as a whole over a couple of games. If Michael Owen has a shitter, no-one mentions it and it's not a problem because he won't next week because he's a good player and has been for a long time. If Jonas has a shitter next week or Coloccini makes an error that costs us a goal, it'll be panic stations on here (OH NO THEY WON'T ADAPT!) and it's ridiculous. Thought I'd bump this on the back of the slagging that Bassong and Guthrie are getting. Build 'em up, knock 'em down.
  3. Shite , i was making a dossier for him and a website . Who are you then? That's not an answer.

    RIP DOF TBH?

Spurs needed a striker though, Mido was as good as gone and that left them with Keane, Defoe and Berbatov, you can't go into a season with only 3 first team strikers on your books. They also signed Bale who was their first choice left winger until he got injured. When you've got three top class strikers like them, not one of them prone to injury, spunking £16m on another one who's not as good as any of them is idiocy.

    RIP DOF TBH?

Spurs' malaise didn't start this summer, it started last year when Comolli started taking the piss and buying players they didn't need (Darren Bent) instead of those they did (solidity in midfield, a real left winger) then he did the same this summer - for a bloke with his supposed football knowledge, he seems to just buy whoever is that month's particular flash in the pan.
  7. They remind me of us in 2001-02. A mix of exciting young players and quality experienced campaigners, incredible pace, power up front, goals from all over the park, absolutely lethal from set pieces. He's put together a fantastic team and they're the model for how any foreign owners coming in should be running clubs. Usually I'd be jealous but I'm not, I have nothing but admiration for them.
  8. Personally I don't think Keegan would have lost yesterday but if he had come out when he resigned and said that he hadn't been backed in the transfer market but was staying for the sake of the fans then I think he would have been supported by most of the fans, that's just my opinion, I would have supported him under those conditions. He couldn't possibly say anything man, we've talked about untenable positions, that would have been the worst of the lot. Remember Ashley's huff when KK said we couldn't compete with Chelsea? He'd be admitting we couldn't compete with sunderland ffs. His choices were: a) walk or b) pretend to be happy with this squad and pretend to have compiled it. Bugger that.
  9. Then it wouldn't be winnings would it? Howay man you're not Huggan.
  10. If Keegan had taken an NUFC side containing Taylor, Duff, Butt, Geremi and Shola to sunderland and got beat, who would have gotten the blame? People expected him to put his head on the block and rely on Nicky Butt and Damien Duff to save the guillotine from dropping while all the time having to pretend that he'd put the squad together and was happy with it? Howay. I wouldn't rely on shitbags on Duff to feed the fucking goldfish while I was away on holiday never mind save my job.
  11. Given my recent appalling efforts at betting on football, I'll do the decent thing and do exactly the same. That's us safe, then. Winnings, chaps? £30. That's never failed before.
  12. Ie the success spoilt players like Butt, Geremi and Duff? I think it will just happen without saying. We need a manager with real balls. It'll be buzzwords like 'experience' and 'work-rate' which means precisely fuck all if the players are shite. I would fully expect Kinnear (if he's still here) to bring Smith back in.
  13. How long will it be before we hear "he's the type of player you need at the bottom" said about players that are exactly what you don't need at the bottom?
  14. SSN saying he has told them it's a definite.
  15. I can't see them getting four points like.
  16. We can't write Xisco off and both Owen and Martins are good players (so's Viduka but chance would be a fine thing). I'll not pretend the strikers are playing well but at the moment, the main problem is comfortably the midfield. We're not creating chances, not getting any moves going, just failing miserably in everything a midfield is there for.
  17. But can you see my point Wullie. Colocinni is having to adapt to a faster pace of league, he needs someone he can count on next to him, instead he has a young guy of 22 , who is failing to eliminate the flaws of his game and in turn making it harder for him. You won't find any argument from me mate, I think Taylor's a poor defender at Premiership level with no real positives to his game.
  18. It wasn't a hand it was his chest, you could tell by the way he was rubbing it. Like Tooj said in the pub, he does it so often that as soon as you see the chest rub, you know he's handled it. The refs might be stupid but even most of them aren't that daft.
  19. I've just remembered his handball as well. Moron.
  20. Niall Quinn's a nice bloke tbf. He'll take you out for a drink and even give you a lift home. Put your seatbelt on though.
  21. Despite everything, I can't wait for Fulham in a fortnight. No better feeling in the world than going ballistic and hugging some stranger when an away goal is scored.
