Of course, but it's not easy for a club like Lille to replace a France international and probably their best player. I have no problem with the way Lille are doing this. It's what we have said about our club earlier. The the replacement in before selling the player. The only way to do it. They're not a club that can attract great players and at the same time their best players want to leave. It sucks for them but it's reality. The last two seasons they have brought in Roux, Payet, Kalou, and Marvin Martin. Honestly, they've replaced their outgoings quite well. It is a very well-run club. Promising young players yes (except Kalou) but not great players (yet). That's about what they can expect as a club. Buy promising players and develop them. A bit like us then really.

Levy and Ashley are mates - no suprises they seem to adopt similar tactics then!! Seems AVB has a couple of players who want out, could be good for us. Although I cannot really see past Man U/City, Arsenal and Chelsea for the top 4 this season. Us, Spurs and maybe Liverpool for 5th.

I think it would be good to get him back, just not sure £20M is money we should be spending on him alone, especially considering the value we have managed to obtain elsewhere. If we did spend £20M on him and he did not rediscover the form he was in whilst here before, he surely would become the laughing stock pretty quickly (at our expense).

Would be a better use of money than spending £20M on Carroll IMO. How a club in their financial position can turn down a genuine bid I am not sure, they are clearly playing the game. He will leave this summer for sure. To us? Not so sure.

3-4 years would be my projection as the minimum time it would take to get CL football for Liverpool - thats if they can even do it all. They have wasted so much money and it will take some recovering from - look at us as a very good example. Their squad really does not look that good . Unrealistic expectations will surely make the job even harder. I personally think we will finish above them again this year and will be very disappointed if we dont.
