Does anyone have that game on DVD? Aye- I wouldn't mind a look at that again ! Highlights are available on YouTube, but the game itself is a lot harder to find. :-/

Was anyone here part of the 25,989 that saw his goal that saved the day? I was right in line with shot in it went what a goal. I was there - in the Scoreboard. Sheer bedlam (and relief) when he scored the winner.

I've got a fair few - got the Supermac 70's one with No.9 on the back. It's still in good shape (had it 2 years) and I machine wash it. Also got ; Italy World Cup 1982 with no.9 on the back Escape to Victory with n.6 on the back (Bobby Moore's number) Brazil 1970 with Pele's no.10 on the back Sampdoria 60's Used to also have AC Milan 1950's, but gave it to my friends son as it was a bit small for me. Toff's stuff is good quality and worth paying the extra few quid for, IMO.

Yup - I've read that piece which is supposed to be from today's Times. I wonder if there's any truth or whether it's malicious rumour-mongering. I suspect a bit of both.
-
Was that before or after the game ? It's probably a fair bet that there'll be some post-game bother. Won't be anything compared to the bloodshed if they'd met the Mancs in the final - and lost.
-
For me - no doubting Benitez is an excellent tactician, but he got it wrong tonight. Seemed more worried about stopping Milan (and Kaka) than trying to win the game. Had he gone with a 352, then Liverpool may have had more success. Kaka could have still been man-marked, Gerrard would have been in his preferred position, and Kuyt would have had some support. Instead, lots of posession, with few chances. Dida had little to do in the scheme of things - mind saying that, the same could be said For Reina. With regards to the Liverpool fan - you sound suspicously like a condescending Manc. Not all of us on here revell in seeing Liverpool lose tonight, so pull your wings in a bit, eh ? I'm no great lover of Liverpool, but I have no gripe with them either.

Just hope loads of charvas don't turn up and ask him awful questions.

I'm suprised Roeder lasted as long as he did if players were disrespecting him as much as is now being said. A lesser man would have falled on his sword a lot earlier. Got to get these wasters out of the club. The words from Butt are quite shocking. Fat Sam is gonna have a big job on his hands here, rebuilding the club. First job has to be getting shot of the trouble makers. Problem is that many of them will be on big contracts, so we may have trouble moving them on. If that's the case - let the c**ts rot in the reserves or make them train on their own. None of this clean slate bo11ocks when the new boss takes over. This culture has existed for too long as the club and has to end.

Tremendous article. That's how a football club should be run. Puts many other clubs, including Newcastle to shame.
-
Paul Stephenson looked great when he first hit the scene - pacey and not frightened to take on the fullback and beat him. Never quite recovered from being sacrificed to Millwall (by Jim Smith, IIRC). Ian Bogie - perhaps too much expected at the time. He was seen as heir-apparent to Gascoigne (when he went to Spurs), but again, probably suffered from the pressure.
-
There's a 20minute version ? Did they follow him up to his door in Jesmond ?!
-
Interesting to say the least.
-
Not heard that one myself. Any truth in it or is it just online billy bo11ocks ?

I'd take the Frenchman above Fat Sam and SGE - so yes.

When I met him at a talk-in last summer, he came over as being a genuine and honest fella. That's not to say he hasn' made mistakes in his time here of course - but the players must take a large share of the blame here. It seems that some in the dressing room decided that they didn't want to play for him and stopped doing so. My money is on Carr and Dyer being two of any such clique. Remember, it was ultimately Dyer's antics which paid a part in SBR getting the shove. Whoever the new boss is, they are going to have to root out this element from the club and send them packing. Otherwise they may too end up stabbing him in the back.
-
I wish him luck for the future - a genuine fella who did a good job at the end of last season, but it was a bridge too far ultimately. On the otherhand - I hope the likes of Bramble, Carr, Dyer follow him out of the club. It was his continued faith in these players that ultimately led to his downfall in part. C**ts the lot of them.
-
"We" ? Why! Who said it? Some hack they had on the phone.
-
Basically all was said was that 'we are on the verge' of parting company with Roeder. Nothing concrete yet.
-
Again - I'm not sure about Fat Sam. There is something dodgy about him and I've had enough of such characters at the club. Of course, he may come in and be a success - but the this club has become something of a poisoned chalice since the Keegan years. Most of that is caused by who's in charge at the top - that is where the real problem lies...... Be careful what you wish for lads, because you just might get it. And we could be in exactly the same (or worse) position next year.

I didn't see Dyer, but then again - I might be wrong. Either way - he's still a little c**t who should be sold. -

Dyer didn't joined in the 'lap of thanks' and I'm not sure if Bramble did either. -

Awful today - only Milner and Butt can say they put in a reasonable shift. The rest - notably Dyer and Bramble can just F.O. That 'peformance' has been coming for a while and it's now time for Roeder to step aside and hopefully take that fat c**t of a chairman with him. I like Roeder as a person, but the job is too big for him - and he's also had too much faith in players who persistantly let him down. This is my last season as a s/t holder. It's got too expensive now, especially what you consider we are getting back in return. Dyer worth 80K a week ? Don't make me laugh ! I was hoping to make it to the odd game for next season, but I don't think I'll even bother with that now. I'll be making my way along to Croft Park to watch Blyth. Football might not be as good, but at least the players give their all. Not like this lot. -
I'd take both of them. Distin did a good job when we had him on loan from PSG. Pity he chose to go to Man City.

Did you ever see Roeder play for Newcastle ? I did...... When I saw him at that talk-in, he came over as being honest and genuine and he recieved a good reception at the end. Perhaps this season that has been proved too much - too nice a fella to be a top boss. His continual faith in players who keep letting him down has been perhaps his biggest undoing. -

He might still have them locked in the dressing room, for all the good another ear bashing will do. I like Roeder, but clearly the players aren't interested in playing for him. Tonight, Dyer and Bramble were embaressing and yet we all know both will line-up v Blackburn at the weekend. Roeder should drop Dyer (again) and consign Bramble to the scrap heap. He should give either Huntingdon or Edgar a go alongside Taylor for the last two games. Nothing to lose and at least either one of those two will at least play with some pride. I'm not sure Fat Sam is the man to take us forward. Be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it. Wait another 18months and we'll be back at square one. Our problems run a lot deeper than who happens to be team boss at that moment.
