Yeah ? Will be interesting to see how he fits in. I reckon though that the show producers have probably made a critical mistake in getting shot of Gatesy - it could be the end of the show, which is a shame, IMO. I enjoy listening in, though I appreciate it's not for everyone.

I'd be interested to hear. Any chance of a PM please ? Ta.

Yup - Supermac does seem reluctant to speak out against the board and Freddy Shepherd. Perhaps it's because if he does, he'll be barred from the ground as with what happened to Chris Waddle (if memory serves).

yeah they did last night thats why im asking. If that's true, then there must have been a big falling out somewhere.

Yup - they are good foil for each other - with Supermac being the straight-man. Supermac might be a gob-$hite, but he's still a legend.

Did they ? Doesn't sound good - guess there must have been a falling out ? I know Gatesy has fallen foul of the powers that be, in the past - think that happened when he was with Metro.

Yup - he's not been on the show the last couple of nights. Perhaps he's on holiday for a week or two ? Gatesy is good craic - for a mackem. Brings a lot to the show, IMO.
  8. As I've said before - I'm worried that Glenn will make a move for Ferdinand and Reo-Coker in the summer. I sincerely hope this isn't true as they are poison.
  9. Comes across as being a very genuine, honest and likeable man.
  10. I think for some of the youngers fans - it's hard for them to empathise with us older lads who watched football before it became 'fasionable'. (My first toon game was in 81/82 aged 9). They've probably never stood on terraces, in god awful weather, watching not that fantastic football (in the main) - but feeling part of something that isn't there today. Football has removed itself from the fans - no doubt at all. In the end - it will come back to bite them on the arse. Perhaps that is already starting to happen now ?

The always used to interview Cardinal Basil Hume around FA Cup 3rd round day. If memory serves, he always said he'd mention us getting some luck in one of his sermons.
  12. At present, I won't be renewing. It's getting too expensive for me - I had to borrow money of my folks to buy this season's, and I haven't even started paying them back as yet, due to having to buy a new car. I'll be picking and choosing my games next season.
  13. Anyone got a link of the David Hirst goal ? I don't remember that one.
  14. I've said before - I think Sibi is something of a echo of David Kelly - a fella who has come in and not really been expected to do much, but has won fans over with his effort and honesty. I think he's earned a new deal and he'll be good to have around the club, even if it's only from the bench next season. Mon Sibi !
  15. First-half diagnosis? Liverpool in clear control, but we hung on and battled our way back into it. Second-half diagnosis? Thought we were marignally the better side - but we wanted it more. Full-time diagnosis? An unexpected win, but I'll take it. Well pleased with the fight that the team showed today. Star man for United? Gooch - was a tower of strength at CB. Worst United player? Probably Bramble. Opposition comment? Played some good stuff, but they didn't seem to want it as much as we did. Toon-pros? Effort, character and determination to drag themselves back into the game. Toon-cons? Bellamy gave the defence a hard time with his pace, but that was always gonna happen. Post-match feelings? Over the moon with the win ! 8)
  16. 1. At the start of the season what where your expectations, and are things going as you expected? Yeah - pretty much for me, though perhaps we have exceeded expcectations a little given the injury crisis we've endured for most of the season. 2. Who's been your best performer this season? James Milner - has come in from the cold (nearly being sold to Villa) - to make the right wing spot his own. 3. And your worst/most disappointing? Carr and Babayaro 4. You had a quiet January transfer window, if you where the manager, who would you have tried to sign? Upson, Warnock and also had a go for Dave Nugent 5. What are your best and worst memories of our previous meetings? Best - the 3-0 (Andy Cole hattrick in 93/94) - worst - the first 4-3 6. Do you have any favourite/best chants (and perhaps any that require an explanation)? Blaydon Races 7. What’s the banter like between Newcastle and Liverpool fans at St James, would you say that the 2 sets of fans get on? Sit next to the away fans in Leazes Level 7. There does seem to be a respect for each other, and that's good enough for me. Looking forward to some good craic on Saturday ! 8. In the summer, Liverpool and Newcastle are told to swap 3 first team regulars, who would you send to Liverpool, and who would you like from us? Would like - Gerrard, Kuyt Carragher Send - Carr, Babayaro and Bramble. ;-) 9. Liverpool have become the lastest club to gain new owners, Newcastle have been mentioned as well as a likely candiate for a takeover. How do you feel about these take-overs by foreign owners, and would you like to see it happen at Newcastle? I'm wary of the motives of foreign investors, but then again - our chairman has held back the potential of this club for too long. The club will never move forward whilst he and the Hall's have influence. 10. Care to predict Mr Roeder’s starting line up for the game? Harper, Solano, Gooch, Taylor, Huntingdon, Butt, Parker/Emre, Duff, Milner. Dyer and Martins 11. And finally, let’s have your score predictions for the game: Head says a Liverpool win - heart says Newcastle to pinch it 2-1.
  17. Good read - I don't disagree with a lot of that, though it's perhaps being a bit harsh on Roeder in some aspects - not the team selection on Saturday, I might add though !
  18. Well - just been reading on ToTT - he's not deciding on his future until June, so Boro don't have him permanently yet (by all accounts).
  19. I wish him all the best. Top quality centre-back if he can stay fit.
  20. Roeder's defensive selection cost us today - I know we are short of experience at the bacl, but playing Carr at LB, and the awful Bramble at CB (Taylor having to move to RB), and putting Nobby on the bench ? Need to have a rethink here, Glenn.
  21. I still maintain - Roeder is working with one hand tied behind his back - by Shepherd. That man is the real problem, gentlemen.
  22. Well - will take the 3 points tonight, but Villa can consider themselves very unlucky not to have taken something away from the game. I won't regurgitate what's already been said, but we are in need of two quality fullbacks this summer, and a top class centre half. If we continue to rely on the likes of Carr, Babayaro (where was he tonight?) and Bramble - then we are knackered.
  23. It again confirms that contracts mean very little in football, nowadays.
  24. Has that link above been lifted from here then ? Bloody lazy hacks, if they have pinched it.
