reply no19. he's a long time toon fan. can anybody remember the match, think it was in the 80s when Norman wisdom was running round the pitch at half time? Man United at home in 87 I think (on my 14th birthday) We won 2-1, with Goddard getting the winner. Was a full house, and 10000 fans rumoured to be locked out. I remember seeing folk in the trees in Leazes park, as well as on top of the Uni dorms, next to the East Stand. Brian Blessed is also a massive Newcastle fan. He met Jackie Milburn on a family holiday up here as a kid and it did it for him.

Results going for us so far tonight. Need to take full advantage of it tomorrow if things stay like this.

I think the kid has done great for us since he first came in. He's improving game by game as his confidence grows. It's hard to know what to do with him now that we also have Harewood available. I'm gonna go with Carroll and Ranger again for Weds again though. Keep faith with him.

To be honest, I thought Roeder had done well enough to be given a shot at the job full time, with that run at the end of 2005/06 (I think it was) He did take us on a good UEFA Cup run, but that 2nd season was blighted by rotten luck with injuries too. However looking back, it probably wasn't the right appointment given the damage done by Souness - which took a while to unfold fully.

Leaving the choice up to the fans is an equally dangerous road. Since when has NUFC listened to it's fans, anyway?
-
The Richard Dinnis situation (as mentioned above) is something we have to be very careful of. The players may want Hughton in charge, but it shouldn't be left up to them as it's a dangerous path to head down. I'd still have a punt on Shearer once the takeover hopefully goes through. One thing he can do, is unite all of the fans behind the club once more - perhaps even the bizarre pro-Ashley lot.

I'm gonna stick my neck on the line, because I reckon the last time a midfielder got a hatrick for us, was Rob Lee in Antwerp back in 94. -

Excellent (and slightly unexpected) performance even though Ipswich were pish. Can only beat what is put in front of you. I thought Keane would have had them up for this today, but they just fell apart after the first goal. Nolan MoM today, but everyone played well despite Enrique with a couple of brainstorms that could have been costly. Thought Carroll and Ranger put themselves about really well and Ipswich just couldn't cope with the power, height and pace. Bring on QPR on Weds - more of the same please. Only hope those who picked up knocks are fit. Suspect Coloccini and Ryan Taylor may be out of a few weeks though. Oh - and Keane getting dogs abuse off the Ipswich fans as he walked back along the touchline at full time. -
Perhaps it's from younger fans who don't remember his first two spells at the club (as a player and a manger) He's been accused by some of cowardice for walking out last year, but if he is proven right tomorrow (as many of us suspect), what will his detractors then say? KK hasn't been without his faults in the past - getting rid of the reserve side was a massive mistake, but he took this club from near extinction to almost PL champions inside 3 years back in the 90's.

Forgot to add, with regards to the Independent article, Ashley does have friends in the media - one of them writes for the NotW.
-
something like,... Ashley wont put anymore money into the club, Thre club dosent have £10 million working capital,. The Bank wont allow another £10 million on the overdraft,. Again - it doesn't make sense for him to place us into administration because he would lose far more cash this way, than if he sold the club to someone like moat. Unless of course, he is prepared to write off more millions to wreak more revenge.
-
The current regime - which until this point have been totally incapable of any sort of media management - have contacted a reporter at The Independent and planted a false story about the club's finances in order to discredit Kevin Keegan, days before they apparently intend to sell the club. For the purposes of affecting the outcome of the tribunal or fooling the supporters? In all honesty? If that's true then it's a last ditch attempt to blacken Keegan's name because they must know that they (the club) are going to lose the case. Keegan gets his pay-out and it's countered that it could push us into admin. It's a dirty trick and a poor one at that.
-
Re the admin story - I'll side with .com's take on this; Scaremongering Those club insiders have been busy again, coming up with a tale that the soon-to-be-known outcome of the legal action brought by Kevin Keegan could be a payout so large as to force Newcastle United into administration. Our interpretation of this is a final attempt by the current powers-that-be to demonise the former United boss and divert the blame for the events of 2008 and subsequently away from them and their former hired hands towards KK. The automatic 10 point deduction that administration brings would drop us back to thirteenth spot in the current table, but leave Mike Ashley just one of a list of creditors, rather than the recipient of the proceeds of a sale. In short, it sounds like blatant scaremongering. It's less than six months since club MD Derek Llambias went on the record to deny press reports that relegation would see the club enter administration, saying that: "There is absolutely no truth in the story whatsoever. It's ridiculous, it's usually based on a rumour and I don't know where these things are hatched. "We'd have to restructure our own business plan like everybody else. But our finances are strong, and there would be no threat of administration."
