If we had to choose I would have this kid now and Sissoko in the summer. At least we would have another attacking option to reply on in case of injury or continued loss of form to Cisse. However, if we do end up with both this month, I might even let Ashley sh*g my wife!

I really don't think Gouffran is considered a Ba replacement by the club tbh so i do expect another forward to come in at some point, but i would be surprised if that is in this window. It would be madness IMO if Ashley waited. All of these other signings are really what we needed in previous windows. Now we are paying for it so i would like to see if he would be willing to get a quality player through the door this window. If reports are to be believed there is a £20m kitty and these signings make up £10m. I just hope Mike sees the real figures and spends the other £10m rather than looks at the RRP and thinks we signed £30m worth of talent at knock off prices and thinks that'll be enough.

I hate statements like this. The player hasn't played 1 minute in the Premier League yet and is a totally unknown quantity. He could easily flop or struggle to adapt. If he is bought as Ba's replacement he will need to come in and score goals straight away, and even if he is brought in as a squad player only he will still have to contribute meaningfully. So it's not a step in the right direction? Its a total step in the right direction but one(s) that should have happened in previous transfer windows. I share the sentiment, this guy is our only attacking signing this window. I'd like to think that Ashley would be willing to shell out a bit more cash on a second attacking option this window just to give us the best chance of beating the drop. We have needed left back cover for way too long and by all accounts this new kid is still a bit raw, Debuchy is an upgrade on Simpson which has been needed for way too long. CB needed cover too and if Colo goes then the gamble is Taylor stays fit for the rest of the season. So in reality assuming Sissoko comes in the summer we have only replaced one attacking option when we need at least 4 striking / forward options withShola being in last place for me.

I know people will see this as being greedy but if Sissoko isn't joining until the summer then I still feel we need a Ba replacement. Gouffran will give us a different attacking option but I am not sure if he will score the goals that we badly need. I just hope that one more attacking option comes through the door and crosses that line before the window shuts.

Bringing in Anita has not made a difference and he plays the same role. If we sign Sissoko we'll have him, Tiote, Anita, Perch all cabable of playing the DM role. Too many purple players.

I think his needless fouls and silly bookings are a bigger weakness.

Gouffran doesn't look like a left winger to me. For a start he's right footed. Looks more like a straight swap for Demba from what I've seen. Not a winger for me either. His club play a bit of hoof ball in to the box and he has a canny knack of finding space in the box and scoring with his head. Can play it on the deck too.

Adkins is a far far better manager than Poyet. What are his attributes? I can't say I took much notice of Southampton so some insight would be good. His wiki page is a good read and shows he has sure been a decent manager getting results, just not long at the top level, for that long.
