Of course we won't, we don't have the time, or the resources to do so. That sounds very close to an offer to piss in a cup and sup? Care to add that surety to back up your certainty? Double dog dare ya.

Unimaginably badly if the Gods be kind.

Money well spent. Hopefully. Yes.

Yes it should give us an advantage with other clubs that we are willing to pay a fee in full (though obviously we'll try and use this to drive down the fee). The benefit for ourselves is less clear to me but I vaguely remember someone explaining that Ashley preferred a simplified method that put the players initial costs onto one years accounting, especially after coming into a club where he found we were still paying for players brought in under Shepherd which to him seemed a fairly dangerous practice considering the inherent instability of a football clubs finances based on league position.

Except it wouldn't be, it would be £30m (the fee we get this year) plus the year of wages (2 to 2.5m) so £32.5m. Strangely for an article looking at it from Ashleys point of view, while it includes Carroll, it doesn't include HBA (which is £5.75m plus the £1-2m loan fee, plus agent fee, plus 1 year of wages) totaling at a guess £11m, leaving our commitment for the year at over £40m if we bring in those players.

L'Equipe: Modibo Maiga fails medical; transfer 'abandoned'

It is quite the pisser like. -
How hard is it so understand that he writes what he gets told? The situation changes from day to day apparently, but no reason for shooting the messenger like. Everyone should know how it works by now, and stop whinging about "he knows nowt". Why on earth you think he is being fed lines is beyond me. Do you think it's in the clubs interest the bullshit he come out with? Here, Mark, tell them we're close to getting Cissoko, then when we don't, we'll all look like goddamn heroes!

A disgrace! How very fucking dare we sound out a player. -
Cheers for that, good little insights.

What else can he do? Sign the cheque to get the deal done? Puts more pressure on the board Del boy will not like that! Good. There are a couple of things he can do to relieve that pressure if he finds it upsetting.

Love that people at the club are now calling him Hufty.

There better be. There's absolutely no excuse for being in-profit and having Ameobi as 2nd choice 'proper striker' come September 1st. We've made like £39m profit since January from transfers. You wouldn't f***ing know it. From transfers possibly, but we've no idea what actual profit has been made overall. By the look of our possible bids I would say we are looking at around £15m profit that we can put into the pot for the remaining transfers. That's great if you like buying penny shares and think it's a wheeze if you hit the jackpot. There's also an alternative method of investing in decent potential and backing it to produce a return. Ashley has apparently lost interest in investing. Make money and we have a chance it'll go towards players. Thank fuck for the Carroll windfall, otherwise we'd not be a million miles from Evertons ability to invest in players imho. -

Every interview he has had would dispute that idea, and I see no reason to question him on that. Seems to love his role at the club, and that role is simply to organise the numerous scouts, watch a hell of a lot of games himself, draw up recommendations for Pardew, and organise (apparently up to 3) trips for Pardew to see a player. His name just seems to be something for people to invest some hope in, but there is no reason to think he is anything other than what he is; a very good head of scouting.

segunded If we're locking the Ashley thread, might as well lock this as well.

Ramadan partakes in Tiote.

Ah, sorry, it was sarcasm (apologies). I know he's an arse in many ways, but I enjoy watching the team we have built over many if not most in the league, and just can't fathom how that tallies with the view that we are at the very best tinkering with oblivion under the bloke. Fine Golfmag has his opinion, and while I find it dificult to accept I understand why people might agree with him - but then I also find it difficult not to find positives in what we are doing.
-
Yeah, it's shit following a team like ours with Ashley choking the club towards a slow painful death. Never felt so down about the team we send out on the pitch.
-
Probably way to early, but given some luck I think the staff, first team, and reserve squad we have put together over the last year or so is one of the most likeable and promising we have had, or at least has me more hopeful for the future in a long time. Again, happy to accept that it maybe just the high of the weekend still kicking on but fuck, I just can't help love most if not all of them. Even Andy Woodman is a funny fucker.

End of the striker hunt then? Fuck knows who else might be left on the list, but can't imagine them being that much better than Best, Shola, Ba, or Obertan now. -
I got the impression that Erdinc didn't want to leave PSG, and said as much - so not sure that is the clubs fault, other than maybe pursuing it a bit too long. He's signing for Rennes isn't he? In which case he is prepared to leave PSG. What I heard was that we couldn't agree terms with his agent and he's now going to Rennes who didn't have that problem. Or, like Gameiro, would not leave the French league for anywhere other than Spain. Maybe. Was it Luke Edwards who said we could have signed some of our targets including Erdinc if we'd been prepared to pay a million or two more? Doesn't ring a bell, but you may well be right. /that said, I'm pretty cynical when it comes to believing that Luke Edwards would be privvy to such info.
