  1. Must mean Nolan's not getting a new contract then, eh Joey. Ah well. Seems a bit mad that we're just going to let his contract run down rather than get some cash for him if it has reached an impasse though.
  2. Thanks Shefki! Would have love to have seen you score, hope you can get a local club for next season.
  3. "Lorient's French international Kevin Gameiro is also on Wenger's list of potential strikers." Aaaarrrrrrrrgggggggggg! Not your lot n'all. You do realise the world and his wife have been linked to Gameiro, right? The world and his wife can fuck off as well.

  5. A highly rated French talent that was shown the door at Lyon for fighting with other players, missed training sessions and openly rowed with Didier Deschamps on several occasions at Marseille. He started only 17 games the season before we signed him on loan. We then only permanently signed him when he had a broken leg. Not quite the same as signing a player like Gameiro or Gervinho ... Not like we were a newly promoted club or owt at the time, but aye, I get your point. Just breathe in the sweet smell of ambition though, and enjoy.......
  6. High horse? Gervinho - The French league champions' most effective player, has said that he'd only leave Lille for another Champions League club. Gameiro - Has said he wants to go to Spain, placing preference on Valencia and Villareal, who guess what, have both qualified for the Champions League. Would either of these players fit into our current wage structure? Call it negativity, it's common sense man. Yes, we may not get anyone decent, but if we are being proactive and have an offer on the table, then that is good news, no? Shy bairns get nowt as they say, and I really cannot understand why you seem to think we should be some coy cunt only up for courting the lesser players of the world like, say, Sunderland.

  8. So wait a sec, it's already got to the stage where Pardew is actually going to meet the lad, and we already have one in the bag? I fucking love this is the kind of wham bam thank you mam transfer policy!
  9. As a replacement for Kuqi/Ranger away on loan?

    Alan Pardew

i'm sure ferguson limped off. Pardew told the Chronicle: “We’ve got to get him stronger. “Fergie hit the wall against West Brom on Sunday. “But he’s still young and developing – that’s where these players are at. They’re not there yet. “If they do the work, they’ll threaten the team.” However, Pardew could not grumble with Fergie’s contribution against the Baggies, with many fans opting for the once-capped Northern Ireland international as man of the match. Pardew added: “Fergie was brilliant. It’s such a shame he couldn’t see the game out.”
  11. To be fair, I think that's just been taken from last nights Daily Mail article.

  13. They'd only be mental to accept if it was likely to turn into a bidding war, which they'd have a handle on pretty quickly if there was other serious interest. Considering he's in the last year of his contract the offer sounds good to me, and all we really need to do to get things moving, and know whether we need to move onto other targets, is stick in a very reasonable offer of a few million more than the club he wants to go to is willing to do. If true, well played by the club frankly. It would certainly seem to fit in with our semi regular strategy of getting a bid in before other clubs, then moving on if the selling club starts fannying around.

    We're buying 14 players? Awesome.

So every other signing he made for us, all of whom did something decent counted for nothing, what a fantastic bunch of cunts. No. Besides the fact that this is the express, and there are zero attributable quotes, there is, to be fair, a good deal of difference between a 'factor', and 'largely down to'. I think the point is that unless you expect a manager to have a 100% track record with transfers, 1 or 2 low cost/free transfers which don't work amongst a fair few transfers which have been decent to good value for money shouldn't even be a negative 'factor', if anything the record for transfers while he was manager (if he had much/any say in it) should have been a reason to keep him. Will Kuqi be a 'factor' in getting rid of Pardew if he falls out of favour? Anything a manager does is a factor when it comes to his dismissal. I would have thought getting Sol would be a pretty small factor in the scheme of things, unless it was an indication that Hughton was less inclined to follow the transfer strategy the club had laid out. Not that I believe that that would be the case (I think the stated claim that we needed more experience at the helm was reason enough for the change), but then I don't give much time of day to unatributted quotes in an inflamatory story in the Express either.

Another Talk Sport interview where he says that with the squad we had this year it was dificult, but aiming next year to have 20 quality players to allow us to challenge in the cup competitions. http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/7581/6/exclusive-pardew-newcastle-targetting-gascoigne-esque-players

You know who else blamed the training ground surface for injuries.... I don't recall there being so many injuries in the harder Winter last season, and haven't most of our training ground injuries come post-Winter. The problem with the training ground was that they couldn't use it and had to train indoors, not that they were training on it while frozen. Yeah, if Souness thought it was a problem then clearly it's a pointless decision to go ahead and actually get the chairman to spend some wedge on wasteful undersoil heating for the lads. Poor show Pardew. Poor show.

  19. I don't think anyone really classes him as worth £35m, the fee was just a result of the crazy Torres transfer. Dalglish and the Liverpool board did. Only because they got £50m for Torres. Still deemed it worthy of spending £35m on it on a striker who'd only had one half season performing well. The Liverpool owners craic was the Torres deal had to be £15m more than what we were asking for Carroll (meaning they could buy Carroll and Suarez for £0 investment). It wasn't Liverpool that paid the £35m it was Chelsea, via Torres. So what you are saying is that we refused to even discuss a transfer unless it was for something insane like £35m (fair play to Ashley for that then), the bin dippers then wen't to Chelsea and Chelsea said, aye, no bother, we'll just go up to £50m then, gave Liverpool the dosh, who then despite not valuing Carroll anywhere near £35m said to us, here you go, go nuts. Brilliant!
  20. Sold at any price? Not sure you can promise something like that tbh, especially if clubs get wind of such an agreement and take advantage. That said, I still think the national issue is the primary problem, which I don't think changes whoever we manage to bring in... ...barring an established Spanish International.

    Nile Ranger
