I understand that but what use is Modric to Spurs if he doesn't want to play for the club? Surely the best option would just to be to get the best possible deal rather than feed him the 'we will let you watch the season from the bench or stands'. Phil Jones signed a 5 year deal last summer and a 1 year extension in January yet why should Blackburn hold him back from Man Utd when that's where the player wants to go. Don't really want players that don't want to play for your club. should the player think of that when signing his long term contract. maybe he should say "just make it a 2 year deal, if i'm good i can f*** off, if i turn out to be cack you don't end up paying me for 3 years of turd" truth is the players want it both ways and it would be nice for some club to have the bottle and bank balance to say "no, you agreed to that contract, if you don't like it you can play in the reserves till your deal is up" And how would that help anyone? Certainly not the club who have effectively lost the player and any future financial benifits, yet are still shelling out wages. It seems to me, the only reason you give a player a long term contract is to give yourself a chance of recouping a greater amount from the transfer if that player ever opts to leave. None of it is about loyaly, from either side.

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea
BottledDog replied to clintdempsey's topic in Football
Showing a distinct lack of ambition there Ian. Well actually I did think that as I posted it, I guess if the club really do think we will finish roundabout a Europa league spot then he is someone we should be upgrading. It just doesn't seem like we have that many options for the right. Options? Barton, Gosling, Jonas, Kazenga Lua Lua, Sammy Ameobi, Marvaux, Ben Arfa, some of the other youngsters, and if we can't get shot, Raylor can all do a job there surely? Seems completely pointless to me keeping Routledge as well if we feel he's had his chance and will never amount to much. -

I think I'm resigned to just getting shot now and putting in a decent sell on clause. As long as he's on our books we're going to have to deal with whatever shit he get's into, and it's rare for a striker to end up a great if he's quite as dumb as a box of rocks as this lad.

Thank you both. Let's get this fucker back on track. Have this twitter bollocks - Apparently we've been sold!!! DazWilliams Darren Williams OBE @nufcfans a very reliable source tells me there is a going to be BIG news at a press conf before a sporting event on 15th July #NUFC v #DFC? I asked scale of excitement of news 1-10..answer was 9.9, make ur own mind up!

Same with there user-names etc. You not find a single SAFC related username on this site (I havn't seen any anyway). FTM is quite common with them. Can you lads stop bumping a twitter/bollocks thread with you SAFC obsessions, cheers.

Is that a Power Rangers head (or a guy in a ski mask)? Looks suspiciously like a Power Rangers head.

Is Mike Ashley the worst person ever to have been associated with NUFC?
BottledDog replied to AlanSkÃrare's topic in Football
Not being picky like, but for one thing, only one of those quotes is Ashley as far as I can see (about his kid where he says nothing about the police advising him in the first place, hell I would have advised him the same at the time), and two, without going through them individually, a number of them have a pretty misleading lack of context and to be frank you'd be hard pushed to call lies as such in the first place. /Obligatory Disclaimer: Not that they're not eejits sometimes, and of course dealt with Keegan very poorly indeed. -
That's what I initially thought, it happens quite often too. Man U have only just gotten around to spending the bulk of the Ronaldo money. Can you remember if the Manc Reds were similarly up in arms the next transfer window demanding receipts after Ronaldo left?
-
Just don't think we're interested. King Kazenga is a fuck sight better than the Zog anyway.

A very good question.

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea

I'd say an important first team member of 2 Championship winning teams was quite a decent squad player for a lower table Premiership club to have tbh. He's probably at the height of his marketability now though, so selling him off to free up some window space for new product would be a good business move from the club. You are just precious. -
Planking, eh? Besty just looks like he's just been shoved on top of the locker and set on fire.
-
We view on that is just that I would rather have him play for us for a season, added to the fact that we might end up good enough to keep him at the end of it. You're right though, I fully expect the club not to take that view, and understandably so. Love Jose to bits but have a problem with any player playing in the team if I know he's gone at the end of the season. If, he doesn't sign a new contract (and yes I realise that that doesn't mean he wont be off anyway mind ), I really feel he needs to go asap (whatever money he brings in) if we still have M'Bengue on the burner ready to come in.
-
No. Not in the slightest anymore. We should already have put aside a slice of money for this and the last window so focusing on that figure doesn't make much sense to me anyway, it all comes from the same pot in the end. All I know is that it is a good chunk of money that will be invested into the club and will have given us an increased budget to invest in players, and beyond that I think its is pointless trying work out where it all goes. As for those adding caveats that, well we we hoped it would give us a chance to really push the boat out, I would agree. That would be great. With a gambler like Ashley, fingers crossed we may still be surprised, we are already on a more interesting road with the type of players we bring in and the football philosophy than the likes of Sunderland and that is important in my eyes. Were not just playing it safe. Beyond, looking at the accounts and checking that nobody is making a fast buck (and hell we're not even being bummed by the bloke with interest on his loans at the moment), I don't see the point in getting hung up on not being able to see exactly where that £35m goes if we're still see progress on and off the pitch.

Sits it out til Christmas, opens talks with Barca to toddle off on a freebie.

Then it's settled. If we don't buy him we're fucking stupid And yet Douglas says otherwise. I don't care how far apart their desks are, there is only one way to sort this shit out.... http://cdn.caughtoffside.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Harry-Hill-Fight-AP-WDC5.jpg
