  1. The administrator said in his interview on sky that we could be talking "millions". From his lit up face I'd say.... £2.5m.
  2. Not really. Couldn't even get a run out for Portsmouth ...
  3. Be happy? The past two years have been will have been a lesson to all how not to go about running a football club - lies, underhand deals with agents, employing mates, employing yes men, selling key players at silly times, taking huge gambles which could've potentially ruined the club etc. I could go on. The club isn't financially strong either. It's on a precipice. We're relying on the parachute payments and we need promotion, hence the reason they actually need to spend. They're not exactly cleaning up a mess they inherited any more, they made this mess for themselves. The players deserve credit, Chris Hughton deserves credit, the fans deserve credit. MA and DL deserve f*** all. lies.....name 1 manager, owner, chairman who doesn't. i wouldn't want the truth most of the time. underhand deals with agents........still curious as to why fifa/uefa/fa haven't investigated this further. employing mates...............who doesn't employing yes men..........se above selling key players at silly times..................i take it you mean n'zog and milner, players whom many claimed weren't key players and we have a long history of doing that. taking huge gambles etc...........................some would say freds transfer and wage policy was just that aswell. Both put in transfer request didn't they?
  4. Fuck that. It's their job to back their chosen manager and they're doing it 12 months too late. They're getting no pat on the back from me. Pretty sure keeping as many of the Premier league squad together as they did was some decent backing and the main reason we didn't fulfil the gloomy predictions for this season. Surely that's more to do with the resolve of the players we've got rather than the ownership? I don't think Mike and Dekka were dishing out the golden handshakes to convince them to stay on, do you? The players can want to stay as much as they want, but if the club want the cash and them off the wagebill I have never seen a player fight it. And yet the only players we got shot of were the ones that wanted out (nobody was forced to leave for the sake of the short term finances iirc) which was fairly unexpected. Doesn't make up for the gamble they took which saw us down, but a small mercy nonetheless.

  6. Very. Never got off the bench for Portsmouth either, which nobody has given us an adequate reason for. Not sure but I went to OT with a few mates (they're united fans) when they were playing pompey so I agreed to tag along, Routledge was on the bench that night and pompey were s***, however he came on 2nd half as a sub quite early on and he was easily their best player by quite some distance.. No idea why Ferguson got rid of him tbh.
  7. Nope. Still crossing the teas and dotting the eyes.

  9. "This is a dream move for me, and I can't wait to make my debut at St James's Park," said the 26-year-old. "The fans here are incredible, and now I just want to go out and do my best for them. "It's a great move for me, and I just want to get on with the challenge of promotion." Boss Chris Hughton said: "I've spoken to Mike, and he's delighted to be here. He's desperate to make his debut tonight, and hopefully the deal is finalised by then." Meanwhile, Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has confirmed United's interest in the club's Ashington-born defender Martin Taylor. McLeish said: "Newcastle approached his people and said they would be interested in a loan deal – they've certainly declared an interest." http://www.sunderlandecho.com/nufc/Newcastle-new-boy-Williamson-itching.6018546.jp
  10. The Times is going with £900K , elsewhere it is reported: "But flush with the £2million they made on the Routledge deal" If Boro offered 1.5m, then the 900k figure has to be a tad optimistic, but who knows I suppose. /that's the same price we paid for Kadar!
  11. Pancrate's trousers. :colo: http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20100127/toon-in-training-eagerly-awaiting-eagles_2240137_1946075 What's with Butts forfeit? Everyone gets to line up behind him and flick his freckley ears?!?!
  12. He's actually been our best player in every one of our last 4 games. The curse was ridiculous though tbh. Could someone lift our curse of never winning fuck all Eh? We always win fuck all.
  13. and Better than what we have by all accounts and will hopefully make our team more balanced. An intelligent signing whether or not he is shite in Brummies eyes (and no disaster if he doesn't make it in the Premiership if we get up). See no reason to put a downer on the signing before he has even played for us. Hope he does well.
  14. But surely if we played him we would invoke something and have to pay Portsmouth more money for him? I like the lad, and am happy we are getting bodies in, but I don't see why we should waste more money by playing him. Just doesn't seem a sensible course of action in the current climate. was talking about Tavernier fwiw. Ah, sorry, fair enough. I have no problems with Taverniers clauses.

  16. Pancrate's deal expires this Summer. It was only a "to the end of the season" deal. Aye that's what I meant. Either way he'll be gone, and Ambrose would be a good replacement imo. What I've seen of Ambrose this season hasn't exacly made my heart race, so can't say I've any interest in seeing us splashing money on him if we make it up to the Premiership tbh. He's only scored 11 goals like. Just going on the games I have watched him in. Would you want to buy him in the summer if we went up?
  17. Slightly off topic but was pretty surprised to head Kadar cost us £900,000. Really pleased that we got him and rate him massively, just thought it was less than that at the time for some reason.

  19. That's a whole lotta 'fat cockney bastard' banners right there.
  20. Good point, no satisfactory answer to this yet. I'm bombarding Caulkin as we speak. Caulkiiiiiiiiiiiin!!
  21. Some papers saying about £2m christ ashley must be having convulsions 2.7m out so far There goes our Puma and Northern Rock money. Aye, nightmare. /Good to see the Smoggies laying into their fucking supa dupa chairman.
  22. Rather strange imo.. I doubt Ashley would pay more than a million or so.. so it's not like we've made an offer they can't refuse.. maybe their board are as clueless as they seem It's pretty much nailed on that he's paid more than a million or so considering Middlesbrough had a 1.5 million bid turned down.
