Fron the Boro forum - "Nice to see how the Jawdees have kept their interest in him quiet and then completed the deal for him very quickly, unlike us who have been linked with him for weeks and done sweet fa." Makes a change. Love it! -
But...but... he has no role in transfers?

Great stuff. Shows up those who seem to think they have the inside track on the club. Well done Derek, Hughton etc. -
Fail to see in a million years how they'll be able to afford his wages. City will pay part (probably a large chunk) of his wages and Santos the rest. But why? I don't see how that move benifits the Mancs at all.

I never said Llambias and Ashley were picking the players so I don't know where you got that from, but I do think they will have hired an agency to do the job Wise was supposed to do and Hughton will have little say in who the targets are (but will probably identify the areas we need players for). You do realise the 2 players you highlighted as Hughton targets are Simpson who was loaned mid August and Williamson who we were linked with back then too. 2 months before Hughton got the "manager" job and 2 weeks after he said: Or was he just lying as he masterminded it all? It was Chris Hughton who was caretaker manager at that time right? In which case you would think he might have made suggestions as to who he would like within Ashley's budget? Or are you absolutely certain that Hughton has no input whatsoever and just trains the players who are expertly bought in by Ashley/Llambias through this agency? People at the time were wondering who was responsible for the signing. No-one really thought it was Hughton and some thought it was Ashley nicking ideas off the ex manager: More likely Ashley picking the cheap options from Shearer's list and quietly sidelineing the ones where he will have to pay a fee. So like I said if it was him in charge of transfers, he did a good job of keeping quiet and pretending he knew fuck all about what was happening. That quote from Hughton doesn't suggest anything in terms of who had the say on transfer targets, just that the clubs future was up in the air and who could say who may have to leave depending on what financial decisions were made by the current or future owners. Hughton has been pretty up front about his interest (or indeed lack of interest i.e Nol Solano, Davis etc) and has been open about the persuit of Perch, Beckford, and in terms of Williamson, he has stated his interest in bringing the player in was there before he moved to Portsmouth. The idea that he has significantly less say than the vast majority of his fellow managers regarding possible targets is balls imho.

Nobby Solano signs for Leicester City until the end of the season

If he's a shit coach, give him a role on the till in the club shop. Win-win situation IMO. -
Exactly. Everyone seems to assume it's easy, but I have been won over by his atitude and interviews and that he has through all this kept our stars happy; If he can see us through the second half of the season, he is up there with the best we have had. The negativity against one of the most honest and impressive employees our club has had in many a year is frankly disgusting. If we make it up, fantastic. If he stays on in his role then he will have deserved a shot. Good luck Chris, I hope for all our sakes you can prove these fuckers wrong.
-
Clearly not. /fun comp from the club.

Jinxing motherfuckers.

I'd be relatively pleased with Hughes. I'd like to see Hughton remain on the staff, but he's proven over and over he's not a Prem quality manager. Care to expand on that?
-
Man management in recent times (results + press love ins - mental episodes, divided by fatal fallings out): Hughton > Robson > Keegan > Allardyce > Shearer > Roeder > Kinnear > Souness
-
Fecking 'ell. Yes, until we are in any position to expect better, and hopefully by then he will have proved he is up to it. He speaks sense, shown a steady hand, and has turned a struggling team into a winning team with a strong showing of commitment and togetherness; Could hardly have asked for much more considering the circumstances. Long live King Chris!

The Sunday Sun thing said they "flew to the States at the start of the week" which would fit, but tbh they could have gone to Bognor Regis for all I know. I'm sure Decca must have run a bingo hall there at some stage.

http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/football/Leeds-Utd-Exclusive-Beckford-deal.5973687.jp Good to see them back in time for the Plymouth game Would be f***ing amateurish if Del boy was not at a home game. I reckon that well known saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" will deffo be in force with these c***s. According to the article, one of the things they did in Vegas was put in that transfer bid for Beckford. The c***s!

Player sales? Has to be. Something that should see us through this to as long as we don't lose any more and bugger up promotion.

I just worried whether Ashley has cut costs enough so that he was willing to keep us going until a buyer could be found if he wanted out. That's why the £7 million figure that Peasepud insists has some validity is pretty interesting. May mean that even if he pockets it and we are still run into the clarts, we would somehow still be increadibly secure.
-
Why don't you offer to get involved at the top level? Seriously. They'd be over the moon to have any assistance people can give. Why would he want to do that when he can just sit and hide behind a computer and jump on any mistake and have a go! Which applies to quite a few on here. Why let him sit behind a computer and jump on any mistake and have a go? Pop round his gaff and join him for a bit. He might not agree with you initially but keep hassling and he might be receptive to any encouragement you can give to make him change his life around.

So he is hopefully heading again then. Glad that's sorted.

(2) would win by a country mile. On the whole the NUST have been organised, earnest and effective. This is clearly a mis-step but it's a long term, well backed campaign amongst fans and the media. Such clangers hurt them all the more having built up the level of momentum they have exactly because they're a far more well publicised and organised group than whoever knocked up the pamphlet on powerpoint that no-one outside of a couple of message boards has any clue about. The latest in a long line to be fair. And still they keep going. Like the previous mistakes, I'm sure this one will not lose them all credibility as so many seem eager to insist will be the case. Lots of impatient fans who insist on things being perfect immediately will hoy their toys out the pram and denigrate what has been the most succesful enlistment of fans into a single collective voice in my lifetime. But there are too many fans that realise if it falls apart it's a wasted opportunity that nobody else will feel compelled to try again because there are too many naysayers. The NUST is what everyone was crying out for for years so they won't call it a day because of one badly worded statement amongst many. See, I always supported the idea of of some seriously improved channels of communication with the club that all supporters can feel part of but. But right from the start this group started out with childish threats and insults, and still can't wipe the chips from their collective shoulders and move on from the playground politics. While I'm still a cynical git, I have been impressed by some of their achievements, and genuinely wanted them to demand credibility (to keep making mistakes like this I can't help feeling (silly I know) reflects not only badly on themselves, but all of us who support the club), which is why shit like this is just so sodding irritating.
