  1. Employing someone he has got to know? Not ridiculous. Employing a manager because he might want to recoup several thousand pounds worth of debt and Pardews managerial ability has no bearing on the decision? Sorry, yes that is indeed an utterly ludicrous suggestion.
  2. Care to paint us a picture of how this scenario may have played out?
  3. Think that's a no-brainer TBH, question is would you take relegation. Not that I think it's actually a choice to make, but that's the argument if you believe in prioritising the league. What! To spend a season watching games knowing whatever happens you end up 17th, but get a chance for a day out at Wembley every other year in a staged semi/final where we'll most likely be embarrassed by a team actually used to winning a few games over the preceding months? That's a no-brainer? That sir... sounds like hell.
  4. Give credit to the FA for a rare sensible outcome and it turns out not to be them making it. Awesome. Look forward to the retrial sheduled for 2018.
  5. What's to struggle with? I recognise he needs to be punished for his stupidity, but think anything over 8 games is complete overkill. 5 sounds about right with a fine, especially if it's a full stadium ban.
  6. He'll hopefully be a better manager for the change of perspective. 5 (stadium) to 8 (touchline) games strikes me as reasonable.
  7. And so it begins. The uncross-able lines have been drawn. /plus bonus grammar Nazi opportunity.
  8. Worse? Ok, he's managed like 4 months in the top tier football and I can say I'd rather have him here than Pardew who has been managing for the past decade without success. To say Pardew has been managing for the past decade without any success is a bit of liberty.
  9. "I have watched from Canada with bemusement the hand-wringing over Alan Pardew's Glasgow handshake. No matter what the hacks at Big Paper claim, Meyler did not 'brush past' Pardew, but pushed him. If this were an ice hockey game, Pardew's response would be considered mandatory. As we raised his name on a banner to the rafters, he would be quickly making a line change [it's a substitution - Fiver Ed] to put a gentleman, defined as the 'enforcer', on the ice to further explain to Mr Meyler that the next time he should find a more polite way to approach the head coach. Ahhhh … finally got that off my chest. Howay the Lads. Hats off to you, Pards" - Allan Barless.
  10. Pfft. Still see bot all wrong with the reply. The only part of this that is pathetic is the Chronicle and anyone else making hay out of it.
  11. "I have to advise that Mike Ashley must politely decline your invitation, and I would kindly ask that all future correspondence be directed to me here." Aye, blunt as fuck that from Charnley. Bordering on verbal gbh. What a ridiculous story.
  12. Very tempted to pop down the Green Market and see if there's been a version released for my C64.
  13. Interesting. "At an FA hearing he was fined £350 and handed a four-match suspension." Right so. So since Pards has previous, if they don't get all Billy big bollocks a fair outcome should be that they bump it up to 6 match ban and a few grand fine.
  14. You actually mean prior to the match Carver changing team after Pardew's picked and trained with it during the week? If so, that would never happen. If you mean during the game, of course he can, he'll be in charge. I kind of assumed Pardew would be down the pub watching some dodgy foreign satellite stream with his iphone strapped to his 'shell like', barking orders out through a pitch side loudspeaker. Is this wrong? Does a stadium ban mean no communication whatsoever?
  15. While I was seriously pissed at the atmosphere and so many bogging off at the end, I can't say there was any over the top grief coming from around me either (east stand right upper).
  16. Eh? I'd say Ince's actions were considerably worse than Pardews nuzzle if anything. A fuck sight more aggressive for a start.
  17. He is. That says more about the quality and quantity of decent English managers than anything else mind. Edit: What Semtex said.
  18. moronicle more like To be fair, this place can be a bit of a rarity when it comes to the vehemence of its opposition to the manager. Over 2000 have voted on nufcblog.coms version of the poll, currently it's 74%/26% in favour of Pardew.
  19. Blimey, the results of this poll are almost the exact opposite of the other polls I've seen this morning.
  20. Decent from Barton that. Doubt it'll help though.
  21. Reckon this forums collective and sustained propensity to project and wallow in woe is me misery hasn't helped to be fair. wat Chin up sonna.

  23. Eh, not sure that's true. Had a look through a fair few ex players quotes and most were remarkably positive. Not that that means owt if the football is bollocks mind.
