  1. I can imagine the conversation. Cabella: "So whats Newcastle like lads?". Frenchies:"Well, we play atrocious football and the manager is a dipshit. However, we get paid a shit load, play in a nice stadium, with good fans and theres a good chance you will get a move to a big club within a year or two." Hopefully meeting Marvaux and Obertan doesn't send him into a spiral of depression.
  2. Good lad. Sounds like we got our number one target replacement for Debuchy, which is good news. Am getting over Debuchy way better than I thought I would. Adding this fella to our Dutch ranks definitely helps mind.
  3. Obviously didn't speak to Pardew then. Why would Pardew be less positive than the players (or anyone else)? I would think Dave means Pardew's constant, we're just a mid table club, can't compete etc etc, not interested in cups or the Europa, that type of thing. I reckon Dave is just being uncharacteristically negative for the sake of debate. We probably weren't competing with top clubs over this lad, but still reckon it shows good intent. For Cabella to make this move after taking advice is nothing but a positive for me. Even if he sees us as a stepping stone, he's been convinced by everyone he's talked to that we are a positive step. For that to be the case, we'll also hopefully be seeing some good times for him and the club in the coming seasons. While i admire your optimism, the last 3 years have told me all i need to know about good times for the club supposedly coming. Fair point, and I'm not oblivious to the fact that Cabaye and (potentially) Debucy didn't need good seasons to get their moves. But still, I really like the look of this guy and if he can give us something to shout about this season, when it could have been so much worse in terms of signings, I'm going to take the positives. I used to love signing and if you can't get excited by this lad it's not good, but that's the problem isn't it. We've been beaten down by this regime to expect nothing. It's not trying to be miserable or anything but we know there's no intention to build a team, a long term project we can all see unfold. It's solely about profit and future sale value. It's just hard to get up for the new season, that and throwing Pardew special brand of retard in. Just frustrating is all. Yeah, I get ya. But there is this odd dividing line where generally we're not going to get a profit unless we buy well and the players individually or collectively give a good account in the Prem. I guess this shouldn't be a concern, but it is for the vast majority of clubs, and while we don't have much faith in Pardew currently, we are still buying shrewdly and that is a fairly big positive considering it's much easier to get shot of him than his squad of players. If that sacking happens (and lets face it, it's not unlikely barring some Damascene moment for him) then by Juno, then I'm all for maintaining a decent set of players on our books. Fkn love it in fact. Edit: sorry, bit drunk and on windows phone so forgive if that's unreadable bellocks...
  4. Up to £16m depending on clauses apparently.

  8. Still seems a select few 'ironically' suggesting he's made a mistake, that he'll be misused, that we've got him on the basis that he'll improve under Pardew so that we can cash in. Fuck that. Delighted to have got him, and really looking forward to seeing what he can do for us this season. The only worry for me is who we sell to 'balance the books'... Think we might be ok in this case though.
  9. It's been a massively thin squad for the past two seasons though AND we've lost proven first team bodies. Is it that demanding to expect 7 replacements for 9ish first teamers leaving an already short squad? 9ish first teamers leaving?
  10. If only we had the TV money and Cabaye etc. money sitting in the bank so we could spend before selling. What's the point in buying the player before selling? Arsenal could then just offer us tuppence to get a pissed off Boosh off our books. The fact that Debuchy has yet to sign indicates we're trying to at least not be caught short this time. Being lumbered with two good players > having no players. Aye, but that's not what we're doing (having not finalised the Debuchy sale yet).
  11. Far prefer this angle. The less excuses for him, the better.

  13. Ah, go suck on a lemon man. Good player is good.
  14. Wish Laundromat would get a wiggle on. Reckon he's the first domino in the Debuchy, Cabella chain.
  15. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHA. HA. Well there has to be one per player per thread like Just the one?
  16. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHA. HA.
  17. Eh, where did you hear that? Pretty sure that has to be bollocks as it's absurdly damning if true (you'd have thought there must be a club somewhere out there that'd be willing to pay something for him surely).
  18. Quickly? These cunts are taking forever.
  19. Well it does if you take into account Debuchy is back and Jmatt is probably not even on the plane yet.
  20. Add a beast of a striker to challenge Cisse and that doesn't look too shabby.
