Isn't Newcastle twinned with them?
-
UNKNOWN Newcastle new boy Joan Simun Edmundsson has been backed to make an impact on Tyneside. Faroe Islands starlet Edmundsson is understood to be arriving on loan at St James’ Park from his local club B68 Toftir until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move. And Faroe Islands’ national coach Brian Kerr believes the 18-year-old forward can earn a long-term stay in the North East. “I don’t think he’s going to be in Newcastle’s first team this season, but I’d expect him to make a very good impression and maybe look to break into the side next year,” former Republic of Ireland boss Kerr told the Sunday Sun. “He’s a biggish lad who has good ability. He can beat a man – he has a trick – and he knows how to score goals. “He’s scored in three Under-21 international matches in the last year, including against Russia, when (Newcastle coach) Colin Calderwood was there to watch him. “He was playing out wide in a 4-3-3 formation then, but I think he’s better playing through the middle, which is where I picked him for his full international debut against France. “I spoke to Chris Hughton about him and we had Edmundsson and another lad – Christian Mouritsen – go on trial at Newcastle before Christmas. “Chris liked them both, but felt that Christian, at 21, needed first-team football, which Newcastle couldn’t offer him. “But Edmundsson has a chance. As well as his ability, he’s incredibly enthusiastic, honest and willing to learn, as the players in the Faroes and across Scandinavia tend to be.” Although B68 are in the Faroes’ top division, Toftir is a village with a population of less than 1000, meaning Edmundsson is set for a culture shock in Newcastle. But Kerr added: “He won’t be interested in the bright lights. He’ll be there to learn. And though he’s quite shy, he looks the part when he gets out on the pitch. “Because it’s so isolated, people don’t tend to go and see the players in the Faroes, but there is real talent there, particularly among the young players. They are honest, determined, speak excellent English and are absolutely obsessed with football.”

Hughton's season so far (i know people won't agree) Off field - 9/10 On field - 4/10 Transfers - 7.5/10 Communication - 5.5/10 For me he doesn't communicate well to the fans (or just me) and needs to work on that. It might just be I don't respect him enough to take him seriously. He's not someone you want to listen too either, he doesn't have the charm and enthusiasm of Bobby or Keegan. Really the only real weakness in his managerial time here is on the pitch, which really is where it counts. He's learning, but will he be ready for the Prem? It's a big step up and so far he hasn't shown he's capable tactically. He's done an amazing job getting the players together, team spirit is at an all time high and he's managed to put the relegation disappointment behind them and focus on getting us back to where we belong. His transfer dealings have also been solid considering his shoestring budget and had identified key areas of weakness and bought accordingly. But where it counts, on the pitch it really isn't good enough ATM and most of the season we've played crap football and he's picked unbalanced and defensive teams while sticking with players who are not performing well enough, mainly in the centre of the park. In the coming months points are our number one priority (of course) but i would like to see some performances that give us some hope that we can actually do it next year if we go up.

How's the fuker doing these days?

He's having a laugh... (Alan Carr's dad to be NUFC Chief Scout?)

I hope so. I'm not supporting Ashley here, i just think we would do better having him here than him trying to sell the club during the summer, and probably failing. If that happened chances are we'd go straight back down as no one would be brought in and no real plans for the future will be made. -
I'd take him. Probably our best realistic option.
-
Anyone else we could possibly get from Spain that could do a job for us?
-
Think he's had his day as a manager.
-
Don't think we can afford to go foreign with Ashley in charge as he'll see it as the first step in getting the Continental system back in place; DOF's and all that shit that worked out so well last time.
-
Not saying we have a chance but Mourinho is apparently ready to buy himself out of his Inter contract (£5m). He's had enough of Italy, doesn't love it and finds the Italian game boring and bland. He wants a return to England which has apparently alerted Citeh and Liverpool. I'd be gutted if he went to Liverpool. Who knows, maybe Ashley will sell up to some mentally rich foreigner and JM fancies the challenge. Aye, whatever.

too many injuries imo, players that are injury prone will always drop off like this i.e. dyer, owen etc Injuries certainly have played in his stop start career. Still hasn't effected his pace, if it does his whole game goes right down the pan.

For a team which usually excels in bringing youngsters through they've done a right number on Walcott, you think he'd joined NUFC the way he's turned out. Still think there's a massive potential there, would be buzzing if he played for us.

Are there no vids up on yootoob yet?

He tried to header the bin? What a fuking moron. I wonder how many pints he had to think that was a good idea? Worryingly I know of several people who would probably attempt to do the same thing in a pissed state, I'm just not sure if one of those is me.

My optimism for the rest of the reason has taken a big shift up, like i said at the start of the window, go in to Feb with the same squad and we won't get promoted. Feel like its all possible again. Win at home, draw away and were back in the prem. He won't drop the Smith/Butt/Nolan stranglehold on the centre straight away but if results go our away (both ours and others) we might see more creativity later on in the season, especially if Barton gets back fit.

Bad tackles, sendings off, stitches, sounds like a good old derby battle out there.
