Probably because we were playing Tottenham and Liverpool Away last year. I'm pretty sure a Shearer team Away at Scunthorpe or Leicester would be different. And Stoke and Villa. The Villa game, where we needed to win, still rankles with me now...after being on top for about 20 minutes we sat back and invited them onto us,and once they scored,we had no momentum.I mean, inviting the likes of Ashley Young to attack David Edgar..... Probably more to do with player Morale than his tactics. I dont see Shearer the premierships top scorer being a guy who sets his team out to play defensively really. Footballing talents and mind set don't always transfer over in to management as easily as that. When the pressure for points is on, playing for draws will happen to the best of them.

Proved nothing in his time here. Scared Ashley off with his big plans and hard sell.
-
Well over rated, one of the most over rated players in the last several years. Wouldn't say no though, twice the player of Harewood.
-
So this fuker was out of contract as well? Seems that's all we'll go for, players with contract issues. At least they are cheap and young, something the squad has needed for some time, though i don't think much of him as a player; hope to be proven wrong.
-
Maybe they need a kick up the arse? Certainly not playing with the same urgency or tempo as we had in the first part of the season. They all need an illegal death-grade Chinese rocket up their arses.
-
Aye, though you wouldn't dare say it to his face.
-
Aye the board should have held Ken Bates out of a window by his ankles and made him sell Beckford to us. You'll be the first to moan if we buy a sub-standard striker on deadline day which is obviously a panic buy.
-
Wigan lol, chances are he'll be coming straight back down. We'll take him off them when we pass them.
-
Hopefully this picks up a bit after the game, don't want it to go cold.

So has this finally gone through? Hope so, like Macca suggested Geremi's wages off the books goes to some way to pay the players we've brought in, i'd guess a little more but the principal of the point stands; Geremi was a massive drain on wages and you could get half a squad from what we paid him for a couple of games a season. Just Butt, Smith, Colo & Jonas now, though the last two at least resemble footballers these days, still not worth the coin were allegedly paying them.

It's like 'Shit, i've been kidnapped. Their demands are for me to play football for them; help!'
-
So has this not moved on at all since lunch time?
-
Depends, maybe Hughton always saw Kadar as the 2nd LB and why we've never gone for one, with Enrique out he simply cannot leave everything on his shoulders, just like we thought it was with Jose but really held Kadar in higher esteem than we all imagined.

You're a visionary TT. Oh yes. I'm fuking great I know.
-
Honestly though Newcastle, how the fuk am i going to get any work done from now till Monday with all this going on?
-
That just makes me want him more. FFS!!!!

So if we bring in this little list: Simpson Williamson Van der Left back (loan) Fizt Hall (loan) Routledge Moses Then Ashley sold Colo or Jonas for £7m+ on deadline day, would people still see that as a successful window?
-
credit where credit is due, he is backing his manager clearly. clearly it is to make sure we go back up, whatever his reasons for doing so, im not overally bothered as long as we get there. I agree, it's just some people seem to be thinking of Ashley in a slightly positive light. I think some people are just excited were getting bodies in as the football on the pitch hasn't been great and were clinging on to the top spot which could easily slip away from us. Also most of us believe if we fell to 3rd or below, we'd not have the stomach for a play-off. Ashley is just doing what he should be doing, whether that is for selfish reasons (protect his investment) or not, it makes no real difference right now, everyone wants the club up, and no one wants to take a chance with the squad we had at the start of the window.

Like a throwback to Joe Harvey. Fitz is 29 though. But fills a hole, hope he takes his chance know nothing about the other lad. Credit to hughton - can't believe a transfer window that hasn't been a huge and irritating disaster. All we need now is Moses, and its not been bad at all. Can Fiz play DMC, or was that another former Palace player im thinking of? I gather he can play a few positions. See what he can do I gather we had been watching 3 QPR and lost interest in this feller. Maybe our recent aquisition asked for his mate ? Though not a great signing i guess he's emergency cover, but i was hoping he could play DM, if so bye bye Butty.

Well it looks like all we need to do is match top bid. If they 'considered' a £1.5m bid then there is plenty of room for negotiation, hopefully Ashley is just going in low knowing how desperate they are (especially if he's heard Moses has us as his 1st choice) Anything less than £3m is a bargain.

Good news we've brought in cover, even better news it seems like a small injury. Is Fizzy really coming in?

Could you link me to these posts bumming Ashley?
