Needs to rotate more. The team looks spent. I understand he wants to keep a winning or unbeaten team but I don't see the milage of that when players are hanging. The small pool of quality squad doesn't help, especially when you throw all your eggs in one basket and he's then out for weeks/months (twice that's happened now) but we've got to get fresh legs and minds into the team quicker than we do. Our fullbacks are both liabilities at present and one of them, their quality cannot be questioned, therfore it's got to be fatigue. God help us if we qualify for Europe.

We've been playing like the season is over for some time now. Poor January window has cost us massively.

They've done really well this season, especially considering their injuries and managerial change. However, there is a massive difference from being an actual promotion threat to just being in and around it. IF they have patience and follow this current model, I think they'll get there, but it'll be yo-yo for them with hope of stability, and I think there are too many serious owners who when in that position of coming up will take greater advantage than the lot they have now. Whether that's enough for their fans, I'm not sure. The longer you stay out of the top flight, the harder it is to get back there, unless significant investment + time, is spent changing a club top to bottom. It could happen, but like you say, too many big clubs in threat for next season, plus several decent clubs will miss out this year, all with better starting points & resource. It's a tough league. Looks easy 1st few months as teams get used to their new status (coming up & going down) but when the dust settles and the run in kicks in, quality, managerial experience & squad depth all kick in and its always the ones who have recently been in the prem which have the best chance of seeing it through. The other thing to consider, is it's much easier to come up, make a noise, then become unable to replicate it again next season. We've seen that more closely in the Prem, but it happens further down. There's probably more chance they finish below their final position now compared to next year, than above it. Lose that buzz of promotion, teams take you seriously, best players get poached and successful loans return. They'll feel all that next season.

Gordon has a real chance of coming good. Mctominy is as good as he gets and isn't a much different level from Longstaff. If we're shifting Longstaff to the bench then it has to be for someone clearly better than him, or just stick with what we've got. Even better. Bring in young talent like Alex Scott and let him work his way into the team.
