  1. In your opinion. I think we'd have done a lot better with Bellamy in our team, especially after Souness left. For one we wouldn't of bought Owen, that alone is a huge reason why Bellamy's sale was a massive mistake. Benefit-of-hindsight-tastic. Regardless of the miserable saga his signing has become since, surely you can't be pretending that you weren't excited by the prospect of Owen & Shearer up front when it became a possibility? Isn't that what this thread is about? Every sale is in the past, don't have a go for a fact i cannot change.

  3. Half the get rid votes are from Mackems like. More likely to vote stick with tbh.

    Dean Ashton

They've only got his WHU injury record.
  5. I like it when you get angry. Happy (no more) Face. Agree with Ashley in the crowd bit, Sam has said nowt about that, others have though.
  6. Shows you what listening to the fans can produce.
  7. If we sell him we'll only replace him with a Kevin Davies type player. Sam has no imagination, we'll end up with some utter utter utter utter utter shite in his place. Be careful what you wish for.
  8. In all seriousness. I fail to see why people kick up such a fuss, and have it in for people who have ambition for the football club and are prepared to show it. [i'm talking about the board, in case you don't realise] However, Dire was a talented player. I was watching his early few years a few days ago on video, and a Birmingham supporter who I knew at the time we bought him assured me that he would play for England and be a good player, sprung to mind. Fact is though, he failed to fulfull it due to a shit attitude, injury problems, and in the end, the club are better off without him because there was basically no way back for him. We should of sold him to Manu when we had the chance, for everyones sake. Players like Dyer thought very little of the club, at Manu there would be no way but down, he'd of shipped up under Fergie no problem and would of been lethal. I see Dyer the same as i see Cole, if we didn't of sold Cole to Manu and kept him he'd of turned into an injury prone lazy dickhead as well, he was heading that way.
  9. I really cannot decide (why i made this poll) but there are a few clear candidates which strike out. Most recently it has to be Bellamy, but i think the board underestimated the importance of Gary Speeds contribution and looked at his age alone when accepting the £500k from Bolton, and we missed him badly. Back when you could say we were at our best i think Cole stands out a mile. It confirmed to a lot of people the club wasn't as mighty as we though, and when a club like manu comes knocking we answer the door. We replaced him poorly to make matters even worse. Ginola wanted to go, but i put him in there because of his talent, it what sad to see a true entertainer leave our club before the end of his career. Ferdinand however i agree with. It was good money at the time, and made financial sense. We had Shearer and we were looking towards a brighter future. It would of worked if Shearer didn't knack himself in that friendly, which left poor Thomasson to battle it out for most of the season as a main striker instead of a support. The idea was good imo, the result because of unforeseen circumstances wasn't. Thomasson & Shearer would of been lethal that season, Dalgeish could of got it spot on. (that's how i remember it anyway, i could be muddled with dates and times etc) So after all of that, and having a think about it for a bit, i'm going to go with Bellamy. His passion, his ability, his age, the reasons we sold him for and the price we received makes him a stand out candidate for me. The fact we could still do with him doesn't go a miss either. Bellamy it is.
  10. We never signed Sir Les though till six months later, so how on earth you can justify that as understandable. Well i don't know. It was a few years before i was old enough to follow football, but that's what i thought. But Ferdinand did replace Cole and replaced him effectively, with no great fluctuation in the prices received/paid, so you could say it was always in the pipeline. No, we replaced Cole with Paul Kitson!
  11. They saw getting the same fee they paid for him back too good to turn down at his age, i think he was 29 at the time.
  12. I'm going to stick (at the risk of being lampooned by certain posters!!) with the Premiership era (dun dun duuunnnn). 1st off its more relevant and a couple of the old time sales would certainly win outright anyway. So which sale of a player had the biggest negative effect on the club? (if you think of any more please say and i will add them)
  13. Cacapa & Rozenhal do nothing for me. Cacapa makes too many mistakes, however he's either a very lucky man, or his experience gets him out of a few jams, Rozenhal is a passenger, just what you want in central defence. Faye & Beye are solid defenders, but Faye picks up knocks left right and centre, and Beye can only play one position. Both are away for the ANC, its going to sting a bit. Taylor is rough and is not suiting Sam at all. Contract wrangle has seen him lose valuable support off his fellow fans, needs to step up, seems very down and out of it atm. Carr is a cunt. So right now Brown would be out RB, otherwise it means playing an out of position, out of sorts Taylor, or a cunt. After the ANC and looking towards the future, Beye would be RB, and Brown would be CB alongside Faye or Taylor. For me if we could get Enrique fit, ready and able, that would be a very good defence to go for the rest of the season. Wes Brown out of that lot would be out best CB. He'd be our most experience, most talented, and would bring a lot of pace to the central defence, something every team could do with. He does make the odd mistake, usually slips, but the quality is there, Fergie offering £50k a week tells you its own story. All IMO of course.

I wish it worked out for him, it didn't so its time to get rid. We'd be crazy not to take Boro's money off them, especially if its anything over £2m. I doubt he'd come good and come back to haunt us, but he'd do a lot better elsewhere along with all those types of players who simply cannot cope with the pressure of NUFC.
  15. Its not praying on my mind.
  16. Possibly, I'm hardly a big fan of Brown's but I think it's safe to say he would be an improvement on Rozenhal and Cacapa even if he has a little dip in form after leaving United. He's be our best defender by a mile imo. Doesn't take much though. Bollocks tbh. Not bollocks tbh.
