Apart from the best ones :-( Aye, but the could get drawn against each other in the next round, while we sail to the final. I'd be happy with a final loss, it gets us back in Europe as long as its a euro placed team we play against.

And he nearly scores. Class player, we should go for him.

Could be our year, all the prem teams dying in the 3rd round. Kyle Lafferty on the left wing? Thought he was a striker.
  5. TOON WON'T TAKE A CHANCE ON SHEARER Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has reportedly ruled out sacking Sam Allardyce to replace him with Alan Shearer. Toon legend Shearer is a massive fan favourite on Tyneside, and the popular choice to take over if Allardyce were to pay the price for yet another under-achieving season by the St James' Park side. But Ashley says it's not the time to panic, and believes bringing in managerial rookie Shearer is not an option. A senior source close to Ashley told The News of the World: "Mike wouldn't employ an undergraduate fresh out of business school to run one of his companies, so why would he trust Newcastle to a rookie? "His view is that you have to trust people. Mike's not here as a flash in the pan owner, he's here for the long term and knows there's no point creating instability by sacking a manager every five minutes." Meanwhile Allardyce is confident he can turn around Newcastle's fortunes if he is given enough time. "No. Why should I?" Allardyce told the News of the World when asked if he would resign should the Magpies lose their FA Cup clash with Stoke. "It is 53 years since they won anything domestically here, so it is a big job to turn this club around. "I said it would take me three to five years - and I have only been here eight months."
  6. Rather spend the £6-7m on sacking Sam Allardyce than bringing in this nothing player. Poll time. Sack Sam for £7m Sign Nolan for £7m One or the other.
  7. I wonder why no one has ever thought of doing this thread before?

Since when have Espanyol been a cracking outfit? Murdering Villareal right now.
  10. Codswallop. He is moving back to Europe. I have it on good authority was sounded out for the Spurs job before Ramos and the Chelsea job when Mourinho left. He's played with and under some great managers and players and he's also reagarded as the man who turned around the German public who were fast losing interst in a boring national side. He loves attacking footie. "Besides playing for German clubs VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich, Klinsmann played abroad for Internazionale, AS Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur and Sampdoria. During this time he was under the tutelage of such coaches as Arsène Wenger and Giovanni Trapattoni, among others." Shearer might be able to do the job who can tell. But imo a silly and unnecessary risk to take given our new found financial stability and club management and behind the scenes ongoing improvements. I'd accept the French grandad (Houllier) rather than Shearer. Now he's moving back? So i was right! I'd have Houllier, but i'd prefer the board go for someone we've never heard of, take a massive chance on the worlds most up and coming whoever that is. Ideally they should take strong advice and 'look outside the box' before the next appointment I agree. I'd like someone from South America, bring a bit of samba style or Argie technique to our club, maybe even a Mexcian magician. Sao Paulo have won the league in the last two seasons, no idea who their manager is though, how old, previous record etc...But it would be nice to bring a totally fresh approach, not just to our club, but possibly the league. Having Julio Geordio as manager would be excellent Should be in the management game by now
  11. Merson is shite like. "That bloke" "whats-his-name" "him who managed that club" "The defender who headed that ball in the back of the net" "Where am i?" Sobriety is certainly working for him.

  13. That does piss me off. Me too, but they comment on so much, they cannot possibly know the true feelings on everything. None of them have any links to NUFC so really its just an outside uninformed opinion. Le Piss & Tommohawk nose are the pits mind, anti NUFC and its plain to see.

  15. He has holes in his education, he certainly wasn't the finished article when he came here, but really we've done him no favours. He's a confidence player, its easy to say but he really is. There's no confidence in the team, in the manager, in the formation, so how is he going to shine in that? He's a young lad who isn't ready to carry a club of this size on his shoulders, he should be the one sparking games, providing the magic moments not doing the bread and butter points scoring. We've got no one doing that, but that doesn't mean its his fault or he's a bad player. Put him in a team with a settled formation, a settled squad and a purpose, then he can bring to the table what he's good at. At the moment he doesn't know where he's at, and that is not his fault. Even if City bought him he'd be magic, if we swapped him with Elano i reckon due to the mess the club is in we'd make the guy look below average and people would be picking up on the bad points of his game and not looking at the good as the good wouldn't shine through as much here as it does at City.
  16. But he was our tit. He was a petulant child who needed to be kept in line, but he'd die for this club, and he had a talent too. Sometimes you can forgive as long as it doesn't go too far, i don't think it ever went too far when he was here, or at Liverpool, Liverpool saw a chance to make some money and put it towards Torres, can't blame them. But he couldn't be kept in line, Robson's attitude of letting him and the rest of the young lads get on with it as long as he performed on the pitch caused his eventual downfall, none of them respected him in the end and it was the main reason for him losing the dressing room. He had a mouth on him, but even Shearer (IIRC) said he's a player you want playing with you not against you. Dyers disrespect took on all new levels, Bellamy was petulant, Dyer was a total cock end. SBR lost the dressing room for one reason, FS coming out and telling the world this was Bobbys last season, after that the players went akka. Dyer, Bellamy, Robert, Jenas and the rest of them were as bad as each other you could see that Sir Bobby was losing the dressing room before Shepherd said anything, he let these players get away with anything and eventually it came back to haunt him. Its a fine line he walked, he knew it but FS pulled on the line when saying SBR was in his last season. Robert was crying when SBR announced he'd been sacked, that's the mark of a man with no respect for him isn't it? There's a difference between not respecting someone's authority and not caring when they leave. You can't tell me those players I mentioned didn't take the piss towards the end, the more Robson let them get away with the worse they got. I think they did, but most of it was after FS comments. Before then it was being dealt with, maybe not perfectly, but balanced out towards their contribution.
  17. Klinsmann just wants an easy life in the USA, wouldn't even move back to his home Country to manage his own nation IIRC. So its a non starter really, and i'd have thought Shearer is held in great light across the footballing world, just as much as Klinsmann if not more so as only Germans like Germans.

  19. If you take the time to read most of the sensible arguments about Martins, you'll see that the judgements are more based on his glaring weaknesses as a footballer (which haven't improved one iota since he joined) than his recent form. His only answer is to score goals, of course, which he hasn't been doing recently. I do understand what your general point is, but it doesn't necessarily apply in this case because a lot of people have been saying the same about him since last season. Like I've just posted though, if this forum had their way then I'm not sure we'd have a manager, an owner, a chairman, any staff, a single player in the first team, reserves or academy, a tea lady, a box office, etc. Nobody is good enough. If Martins did go, then this place could become very Bellamy-esque, unless Allardyce bought a quality replacement. He's had two very shite managers coaching him, neither with any idea of attacking football nevermind translating that into training methods and ways to help improve his game. We've next to no coaches at the club, none of them with any attacking experience. He needs to be taught the finder points of the game, but what he's getting is basic lessons in fuk all. Yet in all that he's stil managed to score goals when starting, and looks a better player when he's had a run in the team. Send him to Arsenal, see what happens with him there. Maybe people are right, sell him so he can save his career, lets not ruin another player with obvious talent.

  21. I love it how this forum will jump on a player for putting in a few bad performances and shout get rid, even though that player last season was the reason were still playing Premiership football due to his goals, yet want to give the manager time, the same manager who benches him over an over rated crock, then plays him out of position and or doesn't play to the players strengths. Fickle if you want rid of the manager. Super fan if you want rid of a player the manager is ruining. Classic N-O logic.
