If that's what he wants then he should be given it to remove the clause. I've just read a story he wants to match Owen's £100k wages

If Martins wants £100kpw then its goodbye from me, and good riddance. £13m, at least we made some money, were losing out on a at times fantastic player, but there's a lot of hard work to be done with him, and if he's trying to take us over a barrel, its time to move him on and find someone better. If he goes for £13m, we should spend £25m to replace him, show our intent that we actually want better than him. Its a shame to lose him, the future is bright as long as he really is 22 I'm sure Wenger can release that talent as well.

Holiday? From what i gather he's as excited as most, and hopes these are the people to take this club forward.
-
Why? Why would we be signing them if you are lying about this? I hope you are right, but why would he fly over here, when our staff flew out just to inquire about a couple of players from Barca? Why in the middle of a tournament would he be discussing his future? Why not wait? Is he in that much of a hurry to sign for us? None of it adds up tbf, thats why i smell bullshit, sorry if you are offended by that. A spade a spade n all that.

He's playing for 4th at a struggle. If we signed him, Heinze an equally good RB & Deco then i reckon we've got just a good a shout as Arsenal at 4th spot. Wouldn't underestimate Arsenal that badly. Providing they don't lose Fabregas they are still the same team as last seasons second half of the season which created a lot of chances that they didnt convert in most matches they didn't win (that i saw anyway, obv exceptions like game v us etc.) and Van Persie was just starting to hit top gear before he got crocked, plus Arsenal seem to perform better when they are being criticsed. Arsenal are falling apart, if Wenger does stay it looks likely only for a year, remember how our squad reacted to knowing SBR only had a year left. (dyer anyone?) Henry gone, Wenger going, Cesc uncertain, unknown replacements, Gallas kicking off, fans down hearted, Dein leaving, its not all rosy for them right now, they are more vulnerable this season than last even though their young players have another year under their belts.

Nah, they've got a manager who has been in the job for a decade and knows the club inside out. You've got one who has just arrived and has a shit load of work to do before you can think about getting 4th - unfair expectations on SA imho. Unfair expectations if we signed Heinze, Gallas, a equally good RB & Deco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to see him here, he'd be just the big name at the back with experience and legs that were crying out for.

The £23m comes from Wiki, which any old soul can edit. I'd read nowt into that. I think if there willing to sell him, they'll let him go for about £14m imo.

The question on my mind is the figures. What would everyone rate as a reasonable offer to Barca for the player, and how much should we be paying him? Since Barca signed Henry for £16m, we certainly want to be looking lower than that, and since Barca has a wage limit (or so am told) then really his pay should match Owen, no more. What's everyone's limit, or do we not have one anymore due to Ashley coming in?
-
Yeah, I agree but the Deco stuff certainly isn't. I wonder if this means that we have been discussing Deco with Barcelona all along and therefore what does this mean regarding Edmilson and Gudjohnsen? Was there really ever any interest I wonder? We will not sign Deco this year unless we make a mental offer to player and club. Is that like a verbal agreement, only using telepathy?

We should go for Cannavaro as well. Too old & too small. Point being though, we need to sort out the defense 1st, even Bridge/Baines/Shorey/Riise/Heinze & Naldo/Luisao/Davies would be a great start. Do you really think if we signed Deco it would mean we wouldn't be signing defenders either though? Big Sam's not daft, he'll know what he needs, but at the same time, if the opportunity to sign someone like Deco comes along and we can afford it, it would be daft to not sign him. I don't know. Were getting linked to expensive attacking mids, and even strikers (which currently we don't need) but then linked with Beye and cheap alternatives at the back, it just isn't balanced for my liking. My 1st thoughts were that SA was getting in the cheap signings 1st, they'll be rotation, then bring in the big names, but nothing seems to be happening back there, and am desperate to put my mind at ease with a back four of strength and quality for next season. We seriously need a LB.

I know where you're coming from but I think it's the other way in terms of which players would have a greater impact. If we had a balanced team then aye, your right, goals win you games, clean sheets earn you points. But were bare at the back, and a couple of semi to big name signings would spark this team into life, and clean sheets is something you can build on. Both would be great like, but right now we should concentrate on defenders, but maybe the Deco thing is a now or never and we've got to go for him so Barca go for Lampard.

Glad were looking at these huge names, but i'd of preferred us looking at huge names at the back. Zambrotta & Nesta would have a greater effect on the club rather than Deco & Eto'o, and for less.

I'll take a portion of that!

If you check it every 5 days you'll never miss a transfer but for some reason it screws itself for transfer completed.

Or 5 spots.

I don't think it will be neccessary to reach those heights to qualify. Playing more attractive football than Newcastle next season will only involve encouraging the midfield to join in occaisionally. And you've brought in a proven attacking coach haven't you? Remind me where you've seen your manager manage an attacking side?

Do they let you have access to computers in there? I thought it was just crayons. But he does look like a sewer rat who's inhaled a bottle of poppers. You simply cannot deny that.
