I think most people see it like that, but are having a laugh about it tbh (most comments are tongue in cheek) Like i said earlier in the thread, he's not worth £65k a week and that is the deciding factor in all this, we wern't ready to push towards that, and i'm glad we didn't, i'm glad SA has been responsible with our money. Ben Haim won't get many chances at Chelsea, but will pick up the odd medal, Sidwell however will have a hard job getting into their reserve team ATM and is a complete sellout and has ruined his career.

Rubbish. It's not like money is all Chelsea have over us at the moment. CL football, a real chance to actually win something, an extraordinary manager, etc. He will have talked to Mourinho or other Chelsea representatives and obviously feels he will be involved in the first team sufficiently. I think this type of comment is very much sour grapes and well strange considering money is what we usually throw in our transfer targets' faces in abundance to compete with potentially more attractive clubs careerwise.. Yeah. And I think it's worth noting that Chelsea were following him for a while, which would certainly mean a lot to me anyway. Mourinho even fell out with RA because of him. Mate i just want to warn you, you've put a picture of Jermaine Jenas in your avatar. Just in case you die of embarrassment or anything.

We we can't be too bitter about the judas cunt selling out to the scum, we must move on and find better, he was no better than Titus, we are supposed to be aiming higher.

They paid £7m or so a couple of seasons ago though, this deal was a way around a work permit IIRC. (i could possibly be wrong) I was just kidding about the £2 bid, but I do think it might be worthwhile making a bid for Alex though, should Ben Haim sign with Chelsea. I reckon a £4 million bid should just about do the trick. Have only seen him occassionally but from what I remember he did look a decent centre back. I know you were kidding about the £2 but at £4m they are making a loss on a player they've never even played.

I'll be shocked if the Spuds pay that much for him. I know AMS just sold his remaining shares to ENIC, so i wonder if he's been holding them back from big targets, but they simply do not need a £17m striker, and Bent is not worth that money to the Spuds. WHU on the other hand need strikers, have too much money so it works out well for them. If Spuds didn't have Defoe & Keane, or were selling Berbatov then i'd sort of understand the bid, however this is just the Spuds having a look as they always do with every player, but offer crap wages and lose out each time. (Parker x2 & Duff for example)

12 million max from us. No mate, you're paying £17m. Regardless of what you make back by selling another (equally as good) player, you're paying £17m. Which, in the words of every sane person on the planet, is sheer lunacy. Takes inflation to new levels. I'll take Viduka on a free, thanks. Paying more for Bent than we did for Owen or even Shearer is fuking laughable. How much did Manu pay for RVN? This is the kind of talent you should get for close to £20m, the lad hasn't even had an International career FFS!

Well, there's another person i hope breaks both his legs on his debut, if he ever sees it.

I thought Spurs overpaid for him tbh, this is just crazy shit, i honestly thought Chelsea's stupid days were coming to a close, obviously not if this is true.

Been costing them for about 2 years but not a single scouser would admit it. You talk some shit Yet again Fins over rating their sports stars. I'll give you the terrible marking in the Benfica game giving a free header away to a fellow defender as Sami sniffs the ground. Classy. Many moments like this happened (although not all punished due to Carragher being a bit handy) the season before last, Rafa cottoned on quickly and why he's been phased out of the team the season just gone, Liverpool fans are just catching up now, Fins i see are still far behind. Wooo..Classy. You proved your point with one goal In fact he's been very solid when ever he has played this season. He's not young anymore and I remember him saying last season that he wouldn't mind a rest once in a while. If you give him a rest now and then he'll do a great job. Exactly the reason why Rafa isn't letting him leave. And you think there might be a reason why the Liverpool fans don't think he's costing them? There are plenty of other times, i just struggle to remember them all as i'm not a Liverpool fan, but yet remember the feeling of laughter on several occasions at some of the stuff the old man was doing season before last. Rafa isn't letting him leave as he doesn't want to have to fork out to buy another defender, at some time, probably before the confusing of how much money he's getting to spend, Sami must of been made aware of Liverpool's intentions to offload him, stories do tend to be made up, but when Rafa comes out and says he still has plans for him it shows no smoke without fire. Yet you seem to think you have better opinion of the player than them ? Sometimes its easier to look in, especially when a hero is vastly on the decline.

I'd hope Ashley continues with the redevelopments of SJP and the surroundings as i see that as a vital part of the clubs future. I'd like to see SA keep building up the squad like he's doing now, then maybe one or two big surprises later on as the window is closing, if not i can wait till this time next year. Equally as important i want to see as many coaches and specialists coming through the doors as amount of players, maybe more! Expectations in the league? Pride 1st and foremost, something i haven't experienced with NUFC for too many seasons now, get that back, get SJP solid again, and finish in a UEFA cup spot and hopefully treat both cups like our euro & cup competitions combined, no weak teams.

I thought Ali Dia now plays for Blyth Spartans?

Which is about what you'd pay Ben Haim over a 5 year contract. Davies Fee: £8m Signing on fee £500k Wages: £25k x 5 years = £6.5m Total: £15m Ben Haim Fee: £0 Signing on fee : £2m Wages: £65k x 5 years = £16.9m Total: £18.9m All guess work, but in the end him at £65k pw isn't worth it imo. A couple of comments on that. Who says there would be a £2 million signing on fee for Ben Haim? Who says Davies would accept £25,000 per week? Davies is s*** in comparison to Ben Haim. Finally even based on your guesses he would only be slightly more expensive if he stayed for the full 5 years. We'd pay more for Davies right from day one then we'd pay Ben Haim for his first two years! It would take until year four of his contract before he'd finally become more expensive then Davies, and that's going by your rather dubious guesses on wages and signing on fee's. These figures are guess work as stated, feel free to guess your own at any time during the discussion.

1st touch of an Ameobi tbh. Very hit and miss, can see him winning them the odd game, but for the other 34 he'd just not be there. I reckon he's need a good team to perform well in, and he hasn't got that.
-
Basically admitting as much that he didn't move for the money. Almost a certain he'd be better off financially staying at Boro, which is an even bigger kick in the nuts for them.

And after 2/3 years they would have revised contracts offered to prevent the spectre of a Bosman walk out a couple of years further down the line. Davies goes up to £35k (no problem), what the hell would Ben Haim be looking for?? The figures you came up with seem reasonable and the conclusion spot on! Seems about right imo, his contract would go up, but even with a steady £35k over the 5 years he's cheaper than Ben Haim at Chelsea's offer. The fact he's younger and English would also see Davies as a better buy for the club in the long term, Chelsea may come in for him at £30m with Ben Haim as part ex desperate for 1st team football So, end of the day, no real worry about losing out on Ben Haim at £65k, if that's what Chelsea are offering then he'll just be adding to the near £300m debt their in and rising.
-
I wouldn't either, not at his age, silly money.
-
I think Taylor will have something to say about his u21 partner being paid more than him. I think you are over estimating his weekly wage, but even with a £10k a week increase (which would be silly money for someone so young who had a tough time in the Championship last season and desperately want to get back in the EPL) the point is if Chelsea are going £65k, then Ben Haim is not worth it, and i stand by that, and it would work out cheaper to sign Davies, who also in 5 years will hold better market value than Ben Haim simply as he's English and younger.

Well that would be a first, and very unlikely imo. We could easily offer 40k a week which would be about double what he was on at Bolton, if he wants 65k to sit on the bench at Chelsea then fook him. About the size of it really. Not worth £65k, i've got issues with £40k tbh, so lets look elsewhere, i hear Curtis Davies is mulling over if he should hand in his transfer request. That would be interesting Very considering you'd have to pay Ben Haim about £2m signing on fee, as well as £65k, i reckon Davies would settle for around £25k at his age, especially if he want the move, so thats £2m a year (x 5 year contract) less in wages, should cover any fee for Davies tbh.
