Not really a public thing though is it? He's not parading in front of the camera's holding a shirt up with Barton on it etc... He's just greeting his new player to the club, that's all, which shows his interest, he's probably really enjoying himself, any football fan would no matter what club.

Another thing i noticed in the article is it says Ashley was at the training ground to meet Barton. I think that's good news he's here and being involved and FS isn't pushing him out of the picture or being stroppy. I guess a deal will be done soon enough for the club.
-
But Arsenal can only offer him a one year contract which he'd throw in their faces. (i guess your talking about Giuly not Parker) Not sure about Giuly, was mint 1st season at Barca, done next to nowt since.

Scored a whole 8 goals in his career.

Aye, i think our clown prince has got his figures wrong, he's added them up wrong. Must of failed maths as well as English.

Loving this close season so far!!!! Its simply been the best closeseason since i've cared about transfer dealings & managerial appointments.

They're from NI, Belfast as far as I know. Even though I'm from NI myself I don't follow the 'Carnegie Premier League', my team, Derry City, are in the Eircom League (in the republic, it's a long story...) Aye, sounds like an Irish whiskey or Liquor.

Aziz Y?ld?r?m Canny name.

Glentoran, who i've never even heard of have the right idea. Nothing OTT, just a nice looking woman in a decent pose.

Why do lower league football clubs go and get any old oranged faced, dyed blond hair scrubbers to do their modeling? I'm sure they can find nicer looking that that. If they are going down the 'sex sells' route, then get some sexy fuking women, you see better everytime you leave the house than them two. Average at best.

Its a sad situation but i'd rather give it to Barton over Solano who should be used as back-up only next term, Given who can't communicate with his own defense properly nevermind a whole team, Owen who is a cunt & Taylor who is way too young and bullish. Butt is probably the leading candidate, but if both him and Barton had been at the club the same amount of time, Barton would be the 1st choice for captain, so should effectively one decent season from Butt allow him to be captain? My problem, so i'd probably go Barton for a fresh start and new ideas, it should also give him a huge boost and hopefully keep him in line and leave his problems behind him for good.

That did actually cross my mind today funnily enough but surely not. I'd be happy for us to keep Parker cos i think Allardyce could get the best out of him and use him effectively, but i think his days are up tbh Would be a great ploy, or us know saying since you tried to hi-jack our bid for Barton its now £10m for Parker.

Crazy fukers, they dont deserve the money if they are going to waste it like that.

and he actually had one leg shorter than the other! (fact) Aye, specially made boots! Goal line clearance king, Darren Peacock.

Did you grow up watching guys like Wharton,Davie Mc, Peter Jackson etc? i was already grown up Luque, Babayaro, Dyer etc could learn from those people mate Peter Jackson was better than some of our recent centre halfs, and Dave McCreery would show people like Jeanarse what tackling is all about, and Parker how to stay on his feet trying to win the ball. Wharton would show Babayaro what a heart looks like too. The Tin man could show Babayaro what heart is too. In fact the cowardly lion could do wonders with Dyer, the scarecrow could help Carr & Ramage out with the brains department and Dorothy could give Martins some new shiny red boots which would take him home in a flash, and he wont keep getting lost in airports.

Sorry mate, forgive me for this, but that's absolute toss. Nobby did well at right-back because he is an experienced and organised defender, who sorted out the defense when it was constantly all over the place. He had a calm head and didn't panic when facing his goal in his first third. He's certainly not pacey anymore but he is effective at roaming forward and playing from deep, and with Nobby playing back there - viewing the whole pitch - you're just about guaranteed atleast one cutting pass a game. Fucking Ramage man? Come on. Nobby is not a defender, and if we play him there next season were fuked. We got away with it as it was a novelty, manager couldn't judge it and his experience held him together, but there were times where he was exposed for not being the real deal. Well he sure as hell ain't a winger anymore, and if that's the case then we may aswell peddle him cos he's no use in an advanced position - he ain't got the legs. Nobby was a very competent and assured right-back, i'm surprised anyone can argue with that tbh. The performance at home to Arsenal stuck out for me. Superb display. If we could get money for him i'd sell him, as it is we wont and he does as good backup all down the right handside. I dont see him as an asset to the club, and wasn't as impressed as everyone else with his performances overall at RB. They were better than Carr, but thats a low limit to pass and i think everyone judges him on it.

Yep. As it stand we have 4 strikers (as long as viduka comes in) 2 right wingers, 2 left (1 injured) 4 central mid, 3 keepers and one defender in Taylor. Carr & babyaaro do not count as footballers, Edgar & Hunty need to be loaned out and Ramage is purely backup. Exactly! The only difference i would add to that is that i would now count Nobby as a legitimate right back. Although we should be signing one. For me Nobby at RB was a joke, not on his part, just on the fact we had a fit player in Carr who was worse in his own position than a lightweight aging winger. Nobby will be made mincemeat out of next season in that position imo, extreme backup, i'd rather put Ramage in there than him. How on earth we got away with playing Nobby at RB i do not know, but this club is crazy not to sign a £5m+ RB along with a £5m LB in the coming months. Someone comfotable like Luke Young or Geremi would please me. Both players that would cost very little and would do a good job. I was a fan of Young until i saw the Liverpool game, and i dont think i've seen a worse performance from a player. But since he's picked up form again, but if we were to get Young, Carr must go, and we must be also looking to bring in another RB, maybe someone younger with potential, maybe that bloke from France? Good fullbacks are really fuking hard to come across, and can make a team for me, they open up and close down attacks when working well. Its a position we've neglected for far too long, most if not all of our defensive problems stem from shit players out wide allowing the centre back to deal with too much continuous pressure. If we go for Baines for £5m, we need someone to match him, price, age, style & quality, then forget about those positions for the next few years.

Yer, thinking twice i think your correct but the problem is i wouldn't want to play him on his own either. It would either be 442 or nothing with the lad. Which is handy considering his injury problems. Sell him, best thing the club could do.
-
If just one of Martins or Owen can play behind the striker/widish - we'll be cumming in our pants. Out of Martins and Owen i'd be more inclined to suggest that Martins would be better out wide. As you said in the otehr thread Sam and us have a fantastic headache. Aye, same. But that'd mean a case of whether or not Owen can play as a lone figure. It's a bit of a merry-go-round. Like i say, i'm glad i'm not Sam. Thing is its all good fun but highly irrelevant as after about 4/5 games in he'll be struggling to put a team together due to injuries.
-
Playing him for the sake of playing him, that would be. He can't play central. At all. Whatsoever. Agree about Milner though - he has to be in there. Its not really central though, its not outwide either, it would mean him being only yards out of position, which is better than Emre on form in his natural position imo. Also h'es never palyed that position before, he might be able to adapt, especially in a winning team, you just don't know, he'd me more adaptive to that role than having either Owen or Martins far wide on the 4-5-1. I refuse to put Emre in any future plans, thoughts of line ups as he's crap, zoggy is the best we've got in that position imo.
-
I was going with an attacking 4-3-3 with all the strikers, which could be our home setup, and would be interesting. Defensive i'd go 4-5-1 -------------Butt--------- ----Barton---------Zoggy Milner-----------------Martins -----------Viduka--------------- I'm not adding Duff into this as he's out for half a season. For me Milner has to be in the squad somewhere, arguably our best player last season, i hope SA has a big future from him here.
